Ebony was seated in a comfy chair at her local large scale book store, pouring over a novel to see if it was worth buying. A few of her friends from Cirque had highly recommended the series, so she had decided to give it a look and see how it was.

On her lap, a pile of much thinner books sat. Most were collections of music and dance she'd picked up for some practice outside of work. However, on top was a magazine about some of the latest fashions in interior design. Her apartment had been very drab and the girl wanted to give it a bit of a flair at a reasonable price.

Lirona hummed softly to herself as she perused the shelves of the large bookstore, gnawing at her lip as she scanned the shelves for that book that Tykier had recommended not long ago. 'Harper Lee, Harper Lee... Come out, come out wherever you are~' she thought to herself, golden eyes steadily checking each and every title that she saw. She knew she didn't have the name wrong, but where was it...?

With a gasp of delight she finally located it, stuck in the shadows between two much larger hardback books. She hugged the book to her chest, not really bothering to contemplate why finding it made her so unusually happy. After a quick check of the money she had on hand, she headed towards the check-out counter, fingers already playing with the pages. Perhaps she could go back to the store that Ty worked at and they could talk about the book after she was done...

As Lirona walked, a flash of purple - well, a lot of colors really, but mostly purple - caught her eye, and she turned to see a purple-skinned young woman with smiling eyes and... wings? After pausing for a moment and accessing very old memories, a small smile decorated her face, and she approached with a timid air. "E-Ebony? Hi. I-I'm Lirona..x." She winced at having to say her old name. "Well, L-Lirona now. I, uh, g-got a little different, you could say." The teen laughed awkwardly, hoping that she wasn't wrong.

The woman looked up, eyes still their usual fully lashed and closed selves. "Lironax?" she said before recognition dawned on her face. "Lir! It's so good to see you!" she said, jumping up to hug the girl, leaving her books selections in a pile on the table.

"Wow, you've changed so much!" the dancer said, looking in wonder at her old companion. She'd met Lir once, back when they were both small...and one of them was male. The girl distinctly remembered the day on the moon bounce and the little lust spawn with the single teddy bear.

"You say you're called Lirona now? What a pretty name!" she said happily, her wings fluttering a bit as she surveyed her friend. "So are you all the way a girl just yet?" it seemed so natural to have this discussion, for some reason.

Lirona was immeasurably relieved that she hadn't gotten the wrong person, and that Ebony wasn't all awkward about her... change. That would have been kind of terrible. Laughing gently, she started a little at the rambunctious hug, but returned it gratefully. Jake in particular was happy for this contact, and squeezed Ebony's waist happily.

"Th-Thanks..." she replied bashfully when her name was complimented, stepping back and fiddling with her hair nervously. She smiled gently and shook her head, trying to keep all of the emotions that surrounded that decision from showing on her face. She didn't want to spend this happy reunion talking about depressing things; it wasn't fair to her friend. "N-Not yet. Just... Just waiting, I guess." That answer was unsatisfactory even to her, and she winced mentally.

In an effort to get the conversation away from her and her problems, she smiled and looked Ebony up and down. "Wow, you've changed a lot, too! I like the colors. They look pretty with your skin." She beamed, wing fluttering slightly.

"Ah," the other nodded understandingly, "That's okay. There's no rush, I'm sure. Operations like that are tricky anyway, you'd wanna be really ready beforehand."

Ebby smiled, playing with the edge of her skirt. "Why thank you, I'm fond of them too. I've been wearing lots of stuff lately because of my job - I'm a dancer these days."

Lirona grinned gratefully when Ebony made clear that she understood her hesitance, wing fluttering happily once again. She had missed companionship like this, ever since Adhara had moved out. That is, she was really close, but it wasn't the same as being able to just walk down the hall, knowing that she'd feel better when she left. And ever since she'd become more reclusive, contact with her best friend that wasn't over the phone was practically unheard of. However, here, chatting with Ebony like everything was just grand with the world, Lira was beginning that void closing more and more. And it was nice.

Delight and interest shined in her golden eyes as Ebony mentioned that she was a dancer, and Lira straightened up a little. "Really? That's wonderful! What kind of dancing...?" Lira let the question hang in the air a little awkwardly. She didn't want to think the worst of Ebony, but she was a Lust spawn. And when a Lust spawn said 'dancing', she couldn't help but think of... a certain kind of dancing.

Ebony laughed lightly, "Come on Lirona, let me buy you a coffee and we can sit down for a bit." she said, directing the other towards the in shop cafe with a carefully taken arm and a point of a finger.

"Oh I dance in theatrical shows - musicals and such. They're very artsy so I get to wear all kinds of costumes. A lot of the shows are for charity too so it's neat."

There was no way that Lira could have resisted Ebony's invitation, so she merely nodded with a wide smile, hoping that it was enough to convey her gratitude. Even though her old friend was personifying her virtue to a tee, she still felt awkward; so much had happened since their last meeting that it was almost impossible to comprehend. As the source of most of those changes, Lira felt a very acute need to not say or do something that would insult the older girl. Hence the slight rigidness in her body as they walked to the cafe.

Thankfully, Ebony's description of her work was enough to break away a few of those inhibitions, and Lirona smiled in delight. "Omigosh, really? That's amazing! Oh, I wish I could do that. You must be wonderful." Lira paused a bit in her gushing, thank a moment to imagine herself singing in any kind of show, and enjoyed the resulting warmth in her stomach. However, these fantasies were dismissed by the appearance of the cafe counter, and the Patience spawn puzzled over the options for a long moment before turning to her friend. "What do you want to get? i can't decide..."

Ebony blushed a bit as the other complimented her and the elder girl shook her head, "There are plenty of people who can - they provide training to beginners. I'm sure if you wanted to even learn a few steps, you could take a class and have a good time." she assured her friend.

"Hm. How's an ice coffee sound? I hear they're good with chocolate." the other said with a smile, "We can cheat on whatever diets we're supposed to have and drink one then giggle about it and tell no one." she joked, trying to ease Lira up a bit.

Lirona smiled when Ebony mentioned the possibility of classes, glancing at her feet and fidgeting. "Ooh, that sounds interesting. Maybe I'll just have to take you up on that." Of course, that probably wouldn't be for a while; despite how things had been on the up-turn, Lira still had trouble imagining herself doing anything so... social.

The spawn brightened up at her friend's suggestion, nodding happily. "Mm, that sounds great! Good idea!" Giggling at Ebony's joke, she placed their orders, then turned back to the other while the barista made them. "Like either one of us need diets. Dancing probably keeps you in perfect shape, and I'm, well, a stick," she said with a smile, gesturing to her very lanky frame.

The older female snorted but nodded, "You have a point there. Though I usually do have to watch what I eat anyway - dancing is great exercise but it can't fix everything."

Ordering drinks and going to sit down didn't take long, and Ebby was more than happy to pick a somewhat out of the way table so they weren't dealing with a crowd.
PostPosted: Fri Jul 02, 2010 10:21 pm

Lirona smiled warmly at her friend's comment and shrugged shyly. "Yeah, that makes sense. I guess I'm lucky though; I barely get any exercise, and I'm a stick," she said with a small chuckle, gesturing to her appropriately stick-like limbs. "A stick with no muscle, but hey, you can't have anything right?" Another bashful chuckle. She hoped she didn't sound ridiculous.

When they got to the table, Lira sipped at her delicious drink quietly. Her golden eyes watched the crowd pleasantly for a few moments, then turned back to Ebony and smiled. "So, anything else new and interesting happen? Any good gossip I should hear?" She giggled to herself. Doing this made her feel so girly. It was awesome.

"Mmmmmm did I tell you I was briefly dating a slightly younger boy?" Ebby offered with a slight shrug. Her memory of what topics they'd covered was a blur - well, time did fly when you were having fun, right? "Humility and Greed spawn like Lu too, but a bit more social."
PostPosted: Mon Jul 19, 2010 12:19 pm

Lira giggled excitedly into her drink when Ebby told her this news, and had a mild and very embarrassing coughing fit behind her hand before she was able to reply. Although there was only one boy that she thought could fit that description, it was still good news. And more importantly, this was further evidence that Vincent was staying far away from Aludra.

"Oh, that must have been Vincent, right? I've met him, he was... nice." She sipped her coffee to hold back any other biting comments, then continued. "But, briefly? Then it didn't work out? That's a shame."

"Yes. Vinny." she agreed before laughing a teeny bit more, "Oh he was nice, that was for sure, but not exactly erm...well versed in dating. Boy called me twice in our entire 'relationship' - once to ask me out the first time and once to ask me over to end it. I think he'd found a new girl by that point." Her laughter was neither mocking nor cruel - it was merely cute and amusing to her how young and naive the boy had been. "I hope they make each other happy.'
