There are different kinds of magic locations in the human world; blessed, cursed, and somewhere in between. Mary Lennox's garden was one of the places that are in the middle. Although originally belonging to her late aunt, Lily, Mary took the charge of caring for the plants when she found a way to get inside. Creatures from all over Yorkshire came to partake in the beauty that was the Secret Garden. Mainly demons, who were attracted to the natural magic being extruded from it. Many demons came, but one stood out from the rest. Yuri was her name, which is ironic because it means lily. Strange was Yuri, for no one knew where she came from. She didn't know herself, nor did she have a clue where to go next. She made the garden her home, much to the delight of Mary.
The two girls became the best of friends; Yuri took care of the garden when her 'mistress' wasn't around, and Mary provided company to the demon girl. And so the two most unlikely creatures grew in the loving bonds of friendship, along with Mary's husband, Colin. Although, after Miss Lennox delivered a set of twins, she caught sick a week later. Knowing that her demon friend dared not venture outside the garden walls, Mary requested to be taken to Yuri. With her last minutes of life, the dying human told the demon girl to care for the garden. She agreed to do so with her very soul. And so it was done. Only when Mary's last breath rattled in her throat did Yuri realize what she said, when it was far too late...
Years later, Cal, Mary's youngest son, took the position of grounds keeper, as he calls it. Although he kept far away from his mother's garden. He claimed he heard singing from beyond the wall, even though no one's been in there for many years. Colin grieved over the loss of his wife and his friend, but tried to not dwell to much on it, for he still had his sons. Speaking of which, Atticus, Mary's eldest son, married an Irish woman named Faylinn and, later, they had a daughter. This was Koi. She got her name due to her bright orange hair and pale skin, resembling a koi fish of sorts. She currently resided in her grandfather's manor after her mother caught a pretty nasty case of the flu. She was recovering alright, but the teenager was bored. One day, she decided to take a walk through the maze that lead to the walled garden her uncle spoke about. Little did she know that this walk would lead to a great adventure... With only her heart as a compass.
