There was a rhythmic beating on the ground as Parade Elegy walked; the young filly would raise each leg high, bending her knees at ninety degree angles before she took each step. Head held high, she marched through the trees, just outside of the area where her parents herd resided, not wanting to stray too far in case there were predators nearby. The feathers on the small filly's head quivered and shook as she placed each hoof solidly on the ground, practically stomping as she made her way through the bushes.
Her mouth was shut in a tight, grim line and inside her head she was busy fuming over the idiocy of the rest of her family, other than her daddy of course. She was obviously the best of her daddy's children, but why didn't her mom see it? She pondered over this as she stormed through the bushes, leaves getting caught on her scales and feathers as the bushes rustled from her movement.
"Too far," she murmured, her marching coming to a halt before she turned around to start heading the opposite direction, leaving a trail of tattered leaves in her wake.

Ivory slowly progressed through the young undergrowth of the area. He was walking away from his family, deep in thought and eyes glazed, not watching where his feet were placed. His head was held down, with his black and pink striped forelock playing on his eyes with every soft step. He was not distressed about anything, as his lowered ears might have suggested, but he was just walking away to find a quite place to think. His rowdy family had been singing their lungs out all morning, and having endured it for most of the morning, he could no longer take it. Ivory slowly walked off from the loud songs still echoing in his ears. He loved to sing, as did his two brothers and father, and he understood their joy for it. But the level at which their voices were could have been lowered without losing any fun. He was not one for noisy events or people. in his soft stride, his back leg tripped on a slightly lifted root, causing him to snap back to reality and catch himself before he fell. He shook his head, clearing his thought-filled head, and blinked. He looked around, having paid no attention to where he had been. Ivy found himself in a quiet little clearing, near the edge of the wood. He smiled delightedly. Here he could stop and think with out distractions. He found a patch of grass encircled by small bushes. They provided disguise for the small pink colt, if he found himself in an oblivious daze once more. He nestled himself comfortably and listened to the sounds around him. Symphony it was to his small ears. But something emerged from the natural song of birds and wind. Something alien and something like a real voice. Ivory perked up and looked for the voice, it sounded as if it held purpose. Turning and looking over his shoulder he spotted a small filly. He hid behind his veil of bush and spoke out. "Too far from where?"

Parade Elegy's eyes widened as her thoughts were interrupted by a voice, Her tail fanned out with surprise, sending leaves flying everywhere as her thoughts raced. If she yelled, surely a member of the herd would hear her? That was, of course, if there was any danger that came with this voice. She should've heard someone coming! If only she had been listening more carefully when marching through the bushes, instead of being wrapped up in her thoughts, then she wouldn't be in this situation.
She turned her head, peering into the bushes as she tried to use her feathers to make herself look bigger. "That depends on whose asking," she said, trying to make her voice sound intimidating. "Why don't you come out to talk to me, hmm?" She shook her head, feathers ruffling as she hoped the stranger would buy into her fake confidence, or at least come where she could see him so she could assess the level of danger, that way she could always bolt and try to fit into a small space if she couldn't reach her parents.

Ivory watched the pale filly for a moment as she heard him. She seemed to be trying to...make herself bigger? He cocked his head watching her. He had seen this tactic with a few animals. They puffed themselves up or made loud noises when near a predator. Had he startled her? He felt ashamed. To make a nice young lady feel fear was completely ungentlemanly! He frowned at his rudeness. "Ofcourse I will come out, I do not intend to hide after all." He said as he stepped out of his observational position and appeared behind her.
