I've noticed that some of us here knit. If you do, share your projects and pics here for everyone to see.

I've no pictures yet, but I'm working on making my mom some coasters for her birthday/house warming gift. I've decided to make 4 of a dark blue and 4 of a light blue. Just because I think variety would be nice, but I don't think she'd really care much for black. xd They're certainly not the best looking things and I'm still practicing tying them off so they don't unravel. But the knots look weird and I'm trying to make them look better. But at least I'm making them the same size! I've until next week to finish them ('cause next week is her birthday, when we leave to go there) And I've only 2/8 done so far. But I'm pretty quick at them. I could probably do all of them in one day if I had to.
I'll try to remember to take pictures before I leave.
Then after this, I'll start working on a scarf, 'cause my boyfriend says that's what comes next, lol.

I started a sock tonight. Now I know I have a lot of projects on my plate right now, but in my defense I had to frog the other sock I was working on. Since it was the first one and not the second, I decided to do it in a different yarn. I'm liking it so far. heart

I love this thread. I just started a pair of socks. Since I got finished with Yule gifts, I haven't made anything except tarot bags and crystal bags. I have been working on a rainbow goddess afghan for over a year, I haven't worked on it this year because I just got so burnt out. I can do a little bit of work on it, but when it gets warm out I will quit til the weather warms. Right now, I only have 4 projects going, which is pretty good for me. I can't wait to see what everybody will do!

If you want to make baby booties, make them! Eventually somebody you know will get pregnant. I once gave some to the girl who cut my hair!

that's what my aunt does. When I had my son, she already had four pairs of booties made along with matching little jackets. 3nodding

Aww, how cute! I've never made baby clothes, but I have made baby blankets, about four or so with another one in the works. If you're starting out with socks, i suggest getting a "generic" sock pattern (link to one here) and making "house socks"; basically, socks with worsted weight yarn. It's far less frustrating, and quite hand when they're done and it gets cold. Also, if double pointed needles are driving you crazy, there are two books I can recommend: Knitting Circles Around socks teaches you the two circular method, and Two at a Time Socks teaches you the one circular method. Bonus: They both show you how to make both socks at the same time. It's really nifty. The socks I just started are freaking me out since I'm using size 0 needles and sock weight yarn, so I'm practicing with another yarn and size 1 needles for a different pair. Far less scary, hopefully when I'm done I can switch to the other pair and finish those. 3nodding

I'm definitely not ready or something like socks if it requires fancy things like double ended needles.. One day though!

Socks are one of the easiest things to make I've found, but double pointed needles do take a bit of practice before you're used to them.

Hats are typically a good place to start if you want to learn to knit in the round. It's because you don't typically get the ladder stitches (which look like a run in a stocking) because there are no "joins". And when you finally do get to the part where you would use double pointed needles, you have done enough round knitting to get the idea of how to use double pointed needles. Alternately, there is this "magic loop" method I keep hearing good things about. I haven't looked it up, but I figure it's like the method in one one of my sock books, just applied to socks instead of hats, heh. So that's always an option too.
