Daliu stretched lazily as she stepped away from the teepee that housed Tashika, an apprentice Shaman who had a way of charming Soquili to her... The foals -like Daliu herself, once upon a time- she made a point to dazzle with stories of the wild Soquili she used to love to watch... They'd gather to her even if she was in the midst of chores and nuzzle and prod at her until she gave in with a sweet laugh. Stories, endlessly stories.
Tashika told them about seeing the Soquili of the sea when they first decided to speak to those on the ground, talked about the pale faces coming from the water with shining horses and strange words. Tashika's first companion was one such of these horses, and two of the other stallions his relations. Then there were the winds, Aureate and his daughters -both of which were Daliu's best friends... A few other wanderers had gathered, along with Daliu herself.
And honestly, though the young mare knew her mother, father and sister were out there somewhere.. The unusual herd was more a family then anything she'd ever known. Not that she planned to stay with them forever...
"Wandering feet..." She murmured, Whistle and Tashika had mentioned that about her more then once... Though Whistle knew she could wander into trouble as easily as anything else, and the human had just mentioned the fact she liked to roam in search of friends... "But a few adventures can't hurt... And a few friends make one's life so much brighter then it would be otherwise..."
So with a faint smile and a shrug she picked up a dainty trot, moving through the woods and into the rolling valley, searching for someone new to talk to.
"Perhaps a Unicorn... Or maybe an Angeni, or even a Kirin." She smiled to herself, excited by the ideas. "Someone new and wonderful and different..."

Caeldern knew only one thing. His father. The bright orange-and-blue Unicorn stallion had been there since the beginning, and had been present every day since. Caeldern knew of his mother and his two brothers, but couldn't not remember either of them. Despite being from a broken home, the now-grown Unicorn stallion liked his current family. He had love, and support, and could not ask for more.

Well, okay. Maybe he did want a little more. Caeldern suffered from the same wanderlust and need for excitement as his father. Keating had an endless supply of energy and felt the need to always be on the move- meeting new people, experiencing new things, going off on adventures to exhaust himself. Caeldern was much the same. Both father and son would spend days, weeks even!, at a time away from the teepee. This venture had been one of the longest ones Caeldern could remember. He simply walked, and walked, and walked.

Finally, the forest began to change into less deciduous and more coniferous than he was used to. With his ears pinned back, Caeldern continued on cautiously. He nibbled hesitantly on a pinecone, and finding its taste all together unpleasant, he danced backwards and away on light hooves. He paused suddenly, his ears springing forward as the sound of hoofbeats caught his attention.

"Hello?" He called out, his mild baritone voice wafting easily through the sparse trees and shrubs. "Who's there?" His voice showed no hint of fear, only curiosity.

Daliu ducked through a low-hanging tangle of branches, giggling softly when the pine needles tickled at her ears and tugged playfully at her mane. The sharp scent of the trees and sap was not unpleasant, however different it might be when the weather was cool. The scent always seemed sharper to her that way, particularly when there was snow on the ground. Though, the fluffy white mass was gone for now, she looked forward to it again next year.
She was rather partial to the brisk, cool weather.. Autumn and winter were her favorites, she liked to think.. Though the early spring where winter's bite was still in the air was just as invigorating. She adored stargazing, especially on snowy nights.. A light blanket of snow on the valley with the starlight gleaming down and a sliver of moon? Beautiful.
Thoughts of snow and such were banished to the back of her mind at the sudden greeting somewhere off in the trees. He wasn't far away, and sounded mildly curious as he inquired as to who else was wandering the forest. Daliu grinned, excited at the idea of making a new friend. Hadn't she just been talking about such a chance? And here it was!
"My name is Daliu." The indigo-coated mare offered in her sweet voice, tilting her head around another tree, then following the curve of the path in search of the Soquili who had spoken. Still no one in sight just yet... "And may I ask your name, oh fellow wanderer?"
Not an unreasonable question, since she had given her own.

Caeldern stood stock-still, determined to remain as such until he found the source of the noise. It was more difficult to remain still and silent without such strong motivation; Caeldern could rarely sit in one spot for very long. Nor could he keep his attention focused on one thing, either. But his curiosity had been snatched and would refuse to be swayed until it was satisfied.

A decidedly female voice rang out, pronouncing itself as the maker of the noise .Caeldern's ears swiveled and his eyes widened slightly, intrigued. "Daliu," he mumbled to himself, testing the name and finding that he enjoyed how it rolled off his tongue. The stallion's expression changed to delight and he pressed onwards, now determined to see this Daliu-mare, maker of noise and capturer of attention.

"Daliu? That's quite a lovely name! I'm Caeldern, though it hardly rolls off the tongue as sweetly and easily as Daliu," the uni-stallion hazarded a heavy compliment despite the fact they had not yet met face-to-face. Ever the flatterer!

Lovely? She smiled at the easy compliment, unused to such ways. It was nice, to have a stranger be charming though they still -technically- had not met.. Sure enough they were exchanging greetings, but for all she knew he was a Kalona playing games and for all he knew she was a sway-backed old mare!
The mental image prompted a laugh, though she kept it rather quiet as her steps sped to a more graceful, gliding trot. Sidepassing with thoughtless grace down the slightly wider trail, Daliu kept her head angled in curiosity, ears flicking this way and that as she continued to wonder exactly where he was. Her long tail dragged the ground slightly, prompting her to snap it to shake free the leaves that had tangled in the white strands. Beads tingled merrily in the braided sections, feathers fluttering as her speed increased. Perhaps just up ahead?
The way he rumbled her name made her laugh, the sound echoing bell-like pleasure. "I rather like the name, Caeldern, if I might disagree."
She challenged, mischief lighting sky-colored eyes as she rounded another corner. "Much more then 'Daliu'... But then, I have heard that name all my life, and yours is new to my ears."
His flattery made her grin, intrigued to meet such a charming soul in truth. Perhaps she really would walk out of the woods with a new friend, just like she'd hoped earlier on? It was a welcome thought.
