It had rained the night before and Bangil was thoroughly giddy as she splashed from puddle to puddle down the pathway, small giggles escaping from her at every splish and splash of the cool water. She loved it when it rained! The world always felt so new and smelled so fresh after a good night shower.

The water laying everywhere in cool dark pools reminded her somewhat of home, the swamp where her mother and sister resided, Bangil traveled with her father but she welcomed the memory of the swamps offered to her by the puddles and she certainly didn't mind the mud splattering up her legs. Bangil just wasn't the girly girl sort.

Ugh! It had rained the night before - Jarita hated the rain! It made everything mucky and muddy, even stirred up the water in the pond so that it was a whirling murky abyss rather then the cool clear depth she liked. Rotten weather always ruined her day and she had a somewhat sour expression on her face as she picked her way carefully along the pathway, nose wrinkling as she gave the puddles a wide berth.

Even the thought of mud on her pretty little hooves was something she did not want to think about - it was important to always look your best, especially with her dark coat it showed everything! Her mother had told her this and Jarita was going to take those words to heart.

Bangil had managed to follow the puddles a bit off the pathway before realizing her mistake and turning to go back, imagine her surprise when she leapt from the woods to land in a particularly fun looking pool of murky water to land with a giant splash right in front of a strange brightly colored filly.

"Oh!" She exclaimed in surprised "I'm sorry! I didn't see you there!" She continued on attempting to be polite now that she'd gotten past the initial surprise of finding the filly. Oh my..she had wings!..and wonderful bright colors, Bangil had always been just a little bit jealous of Soquili with bright colorful pelts.

Jarita let out a small shriek as the brown blur came flying out of the woods and landed in the puddle before her - at first she thought it might be some sort of predator trying to grab her, her front hooves flailing as she tried to scramble backwards and get away. It wasn't until she heard the fillies voice that she realized it was another foal.

Once that realization was reached Jarita's brows furrowed in anger as she looked down at herself, the muddy puddle water dripping down her chest and front legs. "Ewww! Gross...look what you've done!" She shouted at the other filly, her small wings shuffling as she shook one of her front legs in an attempt to get the muddy water off.

"Well I said I was sorry!" Bangil stated after the other had stopped flailing about and making such a fuss - I mean really it was just a little bit of water Bangil didn't really see the problem - it wasn't like she'd thrown deer poo at her or anything. Clearly it was a big deal to the other filly however and Bangil watched with a slightly arched brow as the other tried to shake the water off her front leg.

"Thats not going to work" She told her after a few moments, stating something rather obvious before sighing slightly - she supposed since she had gotten the other filly dirty she owed it to her to help her clean up - though she still didn't get the big deal. Who cared about a little bit of dirt?"But I know where theres a clean water hole you can clean up at" She offered.

"Clearly" She stated in a wry tone as the other pointed out the pointlessness of shaking her leg, the mud spatters were staying stubbornly just where they had landed speckling her hide with small brown nasty looking dots. ugh...this just proved her theory that it wasn't even worth getting up on a rainy day - rainy days never led to anything good. Bad luck all around!

Jarita's inner thoughts were interrupted by the other filly again and she gave her an annoyed look, hadn't she already done enough? But her ears quickly pricked back up again at her offer. "Well..." She allowed after a few moments thought "...If your sure its clean" And she really couldn't stress that word enough as she looked the other filly over with a critical look. Well she had some pretty markings and while she might be lacking Jaritas own bright hues she could probably be pretty if she tried.

Bangil sighed slightly at the other fillies annoyed look - she was only trying to help fix the problem she'd accidentally caused. It only seemed like the polite thing to do and although Bangil's family life was a bit off from what others might consider normal...she liked to think she had been raised with good manners at the very least.

"It's clean" She assured the other filly with a slight nod. Bangil had wandered past the water hold this morning and it had been a very pretty shade of blue so she was positive it would be clean enough for the other filly " and its not all that far off" she continued in a placating tone. The other filly seemed cranky enough as it was she didn't want to make it worse.

Jarita tossed her head, flipping her forelock out of her eyes and fixing the other filly with a somewhat dubious look before she snorted "well lets get on with it then" She told her with a long suffering sigh. She didn't bother to thank her for offering to take her there - it was a least the filly could do for getting her all dirty in the first place as far as she could see.

"It's a good thing too" She told her in a superior tone "My mother is going to be worried sick if I'm too much later" she confessed as she waited for the brown filly to lead the way.

"And we can't have that now can we?" Bangil muttered to herself as the other filly declared in a somewhat superior tone that her mother would be worried. Maybe her mother should have thought about that before she let her foal wander about in the woods the brown filly thought to herself - although on second thought she suspected if she ever had a daughter as prissy and irritating as this filly seemed to be then she'd let her wander unattended in the forest too. And pray she never came back!

Sighing slightly she motioned with her muzzle in the direction the pond was located and started off down a small game trail through the woods expecting the other filly to follow her.

"what did you say?' Jarita asked the other as she caught just the barest hint of words "You really shouldn't mumble like that, it's not very lady like or polite" She advised the brown creature as she stared dubiously down the game trail. She wanted her to go...down there? Why it hardly looked like a pathway at all! Just this tiny trail all overgrown with weeds and full of rocks she would trip on!

It didn't look safe at all - but the other filly was getting further ahead and Jarita really wanted to get the mud off her pretty coat so with one last shudder she bounded after the other filly, lips curled slightly in distaste.

"Nothing!" Bangil called back in a fake cheery voice - really was she that oblivious to what went on around her? Apparently so Bangil deduced as she continued of telling her mumbling wasn't lady like. That was just fine - Bangil didn't want to be a lady anyways! Not if that meant being like the winged filly mincing about behind her.

By the way she was walking you'd think that Bangil was leading her down a trail of snake dens, the brown filly rolled her eyes slightly and was glad to see the pond coming into view up ahead - and as promised it looked just as nice and clear as it had earlier that morning. Surely there wouldn't be anything to complain about here!
