"What do you mean they don't carry it in purple?"

"I'm sorry Miss, we only carry that style in black, red, white and blue - purple is not one of our standar-"

"It's Mrs., thank you, and I asked for purple. This place has carried plenty of purple before. Runway Magazine even stated that purple was coming back this year, so I'm finding it hard to fathom, Mandy, why you would fail to carry one of your most popular styles sans purple."

The fiery haired woman scowled at the poor underpaid associate of Destiny City's Expressway. The shopper was already frazzled, it seemed, thanks to her hands filled with bags, and arguing with the worker was only making matters worse.

As the girl continued to sputter her apologies on behalf of Expressway, orange eyes moved up from the girl's nametag as she continued to glare. "Well then, if you can't help me, perhaps your manager can."

Ten minutes and a conversation with a manager later, Ursula Killingworth trudged out of Expressway, shaking her head in disgust. "Horrible. Horrible. The ******** nerve of some people."

If things didn't brighten up and brighten up soon, Mandy and her manager might find themselves without a star seed before the day was over with!

If there was one easy way to quickly brighten up any area, it was to invite one Demetri Wright to it. Fashion sense didn't seem to be in his vocabulary (unless one wanted to argue that what he wore was some kind of weird fashion sense), and so the layered clothing with just about every color of the rainbow incorporated in some shape or form was sure to catch the eye of anyone as he meandered his way by, especially someone who was bored and looking for something to liven up their day.

Besides his outfit, the only other thing of note was a single shopping bag held in one hand, and a string of the bracelet style glowsticks worn in his hair like some sort of awkward crown. He shuffled his way through the crowd, grinning from ear to ear but definitely shielding a certain section of his body that apparently drew attacks like a magnet. Having his ribs bumped here would seriously suck.

Demy wandered past the Expressway, barely giving it a glance as he continued past it. Eh, nothing there he'd be interested in, and though the sudden flash of bright orange hair tried to draw some kind of focus, he beat back the tiny voice going 'heeeey, you should know who that is!' and continued on. Possibly a mistake, as ignoring your Queen was likely a bad idea, but his mind simply wasn't focused on that side of his thinking at the moment.

While the young man was ignoring his Negaverse leader, his Negaverse leader could hardly ignore him.

The glowsticks had caught her initial attention - there was only one person she knew who wore glowsticks on a regular basis. Day or night. Work or play.

Demetri.

The frown on her face quickly turned upwards as an idea formed in her head.

"Demy! Demy darling, yooo hooooo!"

Setting one handful of bags on the ground, she raised one arm to wave in his direction. If luck would have it, she wouldn't have to worry about picking up those bags again for the rest of the morning!

The kid did a spectacular 360 turn in midair as he literally jumped in surprise. This didn't help people's reactions of him, in fact more people were glancing at him as he scoured the crowd for whoever had called him. Not that one Demetri Wright was bothered by people giving him that look. It was, in fact, nothing new.

Fiery headed ladies waving him down was something new. That voice in the back of his head gave a smug "told you so" while Demy returned the wave with an enthusiastic one of his own and crossed the way to greet her.

"Hey!"
....God what the hell did he call her out here in the opening? Maybe he should just leave the greeting at 'hey', though even that seemed so...informal.

Oh well.

And -wow- she sure had a lot of bags. It made his own meager little bag look rather...sad and lonely. Then again he was just a kid and didn't really have much of a disposable income. Oh well! It wasn't the time to mourn a lack of glowstick funds. Not now at least.

"Oh Demy, I'm so glad to see you!"

Ignoring the fact he still looked like a fruitcake in public (even sans Negaverse attire), she beckoned him closer with opened arms. Once he was in reaching range, she leaned over and pulled him in for a brief hug, lingering only long enough for him to catch a whiff of her Strawberries and Champagne perfume.

Pulling him away, she put on her best Damsel in Distress look, "This just has to be a sign - look!" Offering up her arm, she motioned towards her wrist (which, for the record, looked perfectly normal as far as wrists went), "I pulled a muscle trying to lift all of these heavy heavy bags... I'm just far too small to carry these on my own!"

Her bottom lip stuck out, creating a pout she usually reserved for emergencies (or for Khalid, when he was acting grumpy). "Do you think you could carry my bags for me? I can get you a smoothie or something, in return? I'm sure Mr. Killingworth would be very appreciative if you helped me out."
PostPosted: Wed Mar 17, 2010 9:42 am

"You...are?"
He had to worry for -just- a moment about why she'd be so glad to see him. He didn't have a chewing out coming his way did he?

OHGOD, sudden hug! Hugs were nice, they really were, but he was so very close to...well, you know, but it didn't last long and the perfume was rather pleasant.

"Your wrist is hurt?..."
He wasn't a doctor, so really he had no idea if it honestly was hurt, but he wasn't about to argue with her over injuries. No, he'd be a good little lieutenant and just do whatever it was she needed of him. Besides, carrying bags wasn't such a bad thing! And if it'd earn him a smoothie -annnnd- maybe some appreciation from Killingworth...

Well damn, it was totally worth it.

"I'll get them! Don't hurt yourself ma'am."
Yeah, ma'am sounded appropriate enough.
"It's no problem, don't want you hurting yourself any more afterall!"
In a mere moment he had gathered up all the bags (-damn- there was a lot of them, and some were rather heavy...), and flashed Ursula with his best grin....which looked rather goofy.
"Where to ma'am?"

"Oh you are such a darling," she cooed, allowing him to bend over and retrieve her multiple bags. "I'm so glad to have such sweethearts like you to help me out. I don't know what I'd do without you!"

Probably be forced to carry her own bags, for one thing.

One hand reached over and fluffed his blonde hair, mindful not to touch his... colorful accessories. As he asked his seemingly innocent question (if only he knew she'd just gotten started), she put one finger to her chin and began mulling to herself out loud. "Hmmm, well...I do have a few more stores to run into real quick, on the way to the food court? If that's okay with you, of course."

Orange eyes looked at him innocently, but before he had time to reply, she was already off like a rocket, heading into Gap (located conveniently next door to Expressway, of course).

"It's no problem, really!"
Well the bags -were- kind of heavy, and he had been off doing...well whatever it was he was doing here at the mall. Likely off to the arcade to see if anyone had beaten his Guitar Hero score.

Buuuut...he could make a sidetrip to help out his queen. Afterall, this shopping trip couldn't last -that- long could it?

He really had no idea just what he was getting into.

Hair fluffing was simply met with more of a grin. Demy didn't mind such things, in fact he -welcomed- such things. Attention was awesome afterall.
"I don't mind at---"
Er....okay. Good thing he didn't mind because she was gone like that and the poor kid had to hurry after her in an attempt not to lose her. He figured that if you were a bag carrier, you had to -at least- keep an eye on who it was you were carrying bags for.

Thankfully Gap was nearby, and he only had to squeeze through a minimum amount of people before Ursula was in his sights once more and he could adjust his path to follow after her.
"Whatcha looking for ma'am?"

....Maybe it would have been better to ask what she -wasn't- looking for, at the rate she was going already.

She was already flipping through the racks, pulling off a blouse here, slacks there, a shell and then a tank top from the nearby table. "Oh, just a few things, you know. Looking for new outfits for work... or leisure... or just to lounge around in..."

Soon enough, her hands were filled with a various assortment of clothing and she was headed towards the dressing room. "You don't mind, do you?" was casually tossed out and his response was yet again ignored as she made her way into the small room.

In a matter of minutes she was out of the room, doing a fashionable twirl in a white blouse and khaki pants. Pausing in her twirl, she struck a pose in the direction of her conned helper. "So, what do you think?"
PostPosted: Wed Mar 17, 2010 10:57 am

It was a -very- good thing he was too oblivious to mind the fact he was being used. Somewhere in his mind the more reasonable side of his thinking was facepalming at just how stupid this was. Meanwhile, the happy eager to please portion of him was just -thrilled- his Queen needed him.

Nevermind it was just for shopping.

As Ursula disappeared into the dressing room, Demy attempted to shuffle the bags into a more comfortable carrying position. Somehow he had managed not to lose any...yet. He had to give himself props for that.

When the door opened once again, Demy looked up from his bag adjusting to smile at her turn (at least he was probably a much -happier- bag boy than any she'd had before?).
"It looks pretty good ma'am! You could probably dress it up with----"
ERK...wait. The -Queen- of the Negaverse would likely not want to prance around in glowsticks. This was, afterall, his gig and not hers.
"Er...nevermind ma'am, it looks great as is!"

She smiled, obviously delighted with his response. "Why can't more boys be like you, Demy?"

Sighing to herself, she twirled in front of the display mirror, moving to look at her backside and stare at how the pants looked. After a few 'hms', she practically skipped back into the dressing room to try on her next outfit. And then her next. And the next.

The bags were weighing down in the poor teenager's arms but he did indeed prove himself to be the most cheerful bag boy she'd ever had the experience of conning into working for her. Khaldun had always bitched when he held her bags. Janice didn't b***h, but she didn't seem to enjoy herself either. Demy, on the other hand, continued to have a positive comment every time she emerged from the dressing room, even if he did let a glowstick comment slip a time or two.

Finally, satisfied with a few articles of clothing, she paid the cashier and added another bag to the young man's pile. This process repeated itself for several stores, until finally, four more bags later, they'd arrived at the food court.

Glancing down at her watch, Ursula frowned. Somehow, three hours had mysteriously passed by - how in the world, she hadn't the faintest idea, but it was already nearing one in the afternoon and she was starving.

"How about lunch? My treat! What do you like to eat, Demetri?"
PostPosted: Wed Mar 17, 2010 8:23 pm

God, what if more boys were like Demy?

...Well the world would likely end.

The minutes ticked by, eventually turning into an hour, and then three hours. Somehow, during all that time, Demy had managed to stay on his best behavior and not slip too much into his usual spastic ways.

At least, not the full blown sugar high cracked out behavior he usually displayed. Z would have been proud.

Even with the added weight (he swore that at one point some of the bag handles had been in his -mouth- as he attempted to juggle them all), Demy remained in his rather chipper mode. Sure, there were -tons- of bags. Sure this was getting dragged on longer and longer.

But he was being useful and she appreciated him. That was all the reward he needed!

...But lunch would so help.

He frowned -just- a bit at the use of his real name. It was the first time all day he seemed anything less than happy. But he bit back the harshest remark considering this was his -queen- and simply gave a quick reply of
"Ma'am, I...really prefer the name Demy, if that's okay...that and I like lots of stuff! But I REALLY like tacos...but but if you don't want tacos that's okay, I'll eat whatever you want! Really!"
He wasn't, afterall, going to go against her wishes.

Ursula strongly believed that bag carrying was good exercise - a training, of sorts, that she was more than happy to provide to any and all willing Lieutenants she could snare into her shopping spree trap. Charonite beat the s**t out of them. Obsidian sparred with them. Nealite preferred the literal shop until you drop method.

"I'll stop calling you Demetri once you stop calling me ma'am. I'm your boss, not your mother. Call me that if you must when my husband's around, but I prefer Ursula in public. That, or Mrs. Killingworth."

Her nose wrinkled at the thought of greasy taco meat, but she'd had worse before. And there was always the salad option. Hm.

Caving in to the boy's request for the American bastardization of Mexican food, she led them both to El Beano, where she proceeded to order herself a salad and water. Her eyes widened as she quickly began to regret making her lunch offer - Demy's request to the cashier was nothing short of amazing (holy christ, could a boy really eat that much?).

After recovering from her temporary shock and a headshake, Ursula paid for their meals and led her obedient bag boy over to one of the empty food court tables. Once the bags had been neatly tucked under the table and the food dispersed, Ursula didn't miss a beat before starting in on her favorite part of lunch meals - the gossip.

"So, Demy," she purred, her fork stabbing a rather large piece of lettuce, "Tell me about you and your little boyfriend."
PostPosted: Thu Mar 18, 2010 10:21 am

Why yes, yes a boy could in fact eat that much. Especially a growing boy! Even if he hadn't grown in...well quite some time. Seemed he was cursed to hit some sort of growth spurt earlier in life and not move an inch after that. At least he wouldn't end up towering over Z any more than he already did?

Honestly he was pretty surprised the bags fit neatly under the table, but with a little bit of instruction from Ursula he had managed to get everything stowed away nicely. His own lonely little bag found a spot propped up next to his chair leg.

Demy unwrapped one of his tacos, not paying much attention to Ursula and her salad (urgh, he hated salads) until the question was posed. Now, if this had been Zac she would have been met with a lot of flustered behavior and every attempt to cover up any sort of 'relationship' beyond mutual friends.

She was not speaking to Zac.

"Oh...oh you mean Z?"
Thankfully he had remembered to -swallow- before addressing her.
"Isn't he just so cute? We've been roomies for a while and we hang out all the time even if Z sometimes makes this face..."
And here he paused to do his best imitation of a frustrated Zac face.
"And tells me to go away before he hides all my glowsticks or my Rockstars or whatever the current threat is. He likeeeeees me though, he SO told me. Took him long enough, I'd been telling him for weeks! He doesn't like the 'love' word though...even if I do love him..."
He looked a bit troubled by the end of that. One day he'd beat into Z's head that love wasn't so bad a word. Really, he would!

Just not today.

Initial explanation over (or maybe just because his hunger won out over rambling about Z), the boy finally stopped going on and on about his boyfriend and bit into his delicious taco meal.

Her smile was nothing short of ecstatic as she swallowed her first bite, listening in to the boy divulge his boyfriend woes. Poor little terrified Zac had been baffled beyond belief when she'd brought up the duo's relationship (though, to be fair, she had been trying to terrify him...a bit) but Demy seemed to have no qualms at all with giving her any information she asked for.

And Ursula liked information.

Pausing in her fork's assault on the innocent lettuce, she smiled. "Cute... yes. Adorable, really. You seem quite devoted to him."

Eyes glanced at the giant burrito he had begun to devour, her nose resisting the urge to crinkle once more. "But aren't you worried about being found out? I'm sure it must be rough, hiding a relationship away from the other students. Boys can be so cruel, after all."
