The sun was coming up. Sue could hardly believe his eyes; the goddamned sun was coming up, and it was a school day, and he'd been out the whole damn night -- accomplishing nothing.

"Dammit, Astraea." Rubbing the heel of his palm against one eye, Sue grunted. He kept hoping to just magically run into the Moon kingdom's fat cat (just a turn of phrase), but it never worked out like that. Wherever she was, she was working off of her schedule, not his. Never mind that the Zodiacs were in crisis, and the person to blame was claiming to be her princess. She obviously had more important things to be doing than giving him a clue what the hell was going on, of course!

They were pretty much out of time now, anyway. Sue had to get himself together, get to school; and later, he and the Zodiacs would be meeting to discuss the matter of the Opal Crystal. High on his list of concerns for that meeting was going to be whether they could afford to put their trust in the Moon senshi, when it was supposedly their princess who had stolen the crystal from Chronos. What a ******** mess....

For now, though, it was time to get back to his hotel room. Enough time for a shower, some breakfast, and a change into his uniform before he had to get the bus toward school. It would be faster, of course, if he changed into his cat form in order to get there, but Sue was a bit reluctant to transform if it wasn't necessary. Too many problems with changing back, recently, and he didn't think that the principal would accept "I was trapped in the body of a cat" as an excuse for absenteeism. Trudging his feet, Sue walked through the alleys he'd been combing, starting on his way back to larger, more populated streets.

Someone's tummy had been rumbly, so that mentioned someone had promptly jumped into an overstuffed garbage can and had begun to pick at any sort of food she could find. She had been contently licking up the crusty old remains of a potato salad when her ears twitched at someone's bitter cursing. If it had been any normal sort of cursing, maybe her ears wouldn't have minded, but this was a pretty unusual form of cursing.

Dammit Astraea.

Peering her head out of the trashcan, she managed to catch sight of a boy walking past. A rather large boy in all honesty. For about ten whole seconds, the gray spotted feline debated on whether to leave this wonderful meal behind to investigate, or to continue pigging out.

Unfortunately, *********, in all good conscious, could not ignore her duty. She hopped out of the can, landing on her paws delicately before bounding after the boy in a less-than-graceful manner. ********* was no ninja. The bell along her neck made certain of that. Anybody could hear her coming, thanks to the "ring a ding a ling" sounds that sprang from her collar.

Sue sure didn't need cat ears to hear that warning bell.

He turned, quickly - didn't trust these alleys, didn't even trust his Guardian senses to pick up on trouble if it was coming up behind him these days. No youma behind him, though; something smaller. And jinglier. And (for the most part), furrier.

"Following me, huh?" There wasn't a great deal of light filtering through the shadows yet, but Sue was pretty damned sure that it was a cat he was dealing with. A few moments of scrutiny left him sure that it wasn't an Astraea-cat, the realization arriving with all the disappointment thereof. A moment more, though, and he caught sight of the star on her forehead. Looked like he was staying for a chat, then. "You're one of the Moon cats? I don't think I met you at the last meeting."

If Sue hadn't introduced himself yet, that was surely just an oversight. He wasn't hedging any revelations of who he was on whether he felt this new cat was trustworthy or not, naturally.

When the boy turned to face her, she momentarily paused in her bounds and looked up at him with her pale green eyes. Yes, he was looking at her. This was a good sign. Seeing she had full attention on her, she padded forward and very casually rubbed herself up against his leg. It was always nice to meet new people. Especially when they knew what you really were. She rubbed her cheek against his leg one more time for good measure before padding out to where she could look at him while she talked.

"I'm *********," she greeted, voice ever cheerful and blatantly girlish. "And no, I wasn't at any meeting. I wasn't around for it." One of her ears flicked, as if she was annoyed by this fact that she had missed such an important thing like a meeting.

Her haunches would have lowered themselves to the ground to sit, if it weren't for one thing. "You looked like you were on your way somewhere? It is possible to walk and talk, you know." Momentary pause. "Or you could just carry me with you! Might make it easier, since then it would be less evident that I was talking." The pale spotted manx padded forward, and rather curiously, she poked a paw at his leg. Why? Only she knew that answer.

Sue obviously found this argument reasonable enough, so he scooped up the manx and tucked her comfortably in his arms. "********* - good to meet you. I'm Sue. Also Zue of the Zodiacs." He didn't know how new she was - hopefully not so fresh that she hadn't heard of his court, let alone his position in it - but if that was the case, Sue could elucidate for her. It wasn't a short walk home, after all, and she seemed happy enough to tag along.

But he wasn't just taking her along for company - god forbid that he might, because that would be a surefire sign of a psychotic break. Sue had some information she wanted to try getting from her, as long as they were in the same place and she'd be wanting to get information from him, anyway.

"So - how goes the search for the Moon princess?"
PostPosted: Tue Mar 16, 2010 2:36 pm

The small cat rather easily made herself comfortable, letting out a small purr at her new place in his arms. She rubbed a cheek up against his arm to let him know that he did good.

From her new perch, the cat mused aloud "Hmmm... Sue... Zue..." It was hard to tell whether she knew of him or not from the way she mentioned both names. Making certain to have things clear in her mind, she insisted upon a bit of clarification. "I take it I call you Sue when you are like this, yes?"

She looked at him with unblinking eyes, getting a decently good look at his chin thanks to her current location. Chins weren't eyes, but for now, it was okay. Sue-Zue needed to see where he was going as he walked. It only made sense, though it still did cause a bit of fur along the back of her neck to stand on end.

The mention of the Moon Princess caused her to finally blink. "Oh, that!" she said as if it meant almost nothing at all to her. "It goes, I suppose... oh hey, that rhymes!!!" The cat let out a small laugh before continuing on. "I suppose it is going as it always goes. I don't know very well to be honest. I've been too busy looking for my girls."

It almost seemed as if ********* was glaring at the chin. Chins weren't very good at signaling how well someone was listening to her. Stupid chin, always getting in the way of a good conversation.

"Yeah," he confirmed ********* assumption, "please. And if you don't mind, don't go spreading around that I've got a human life too, eh?" There were a couple people here and there, of course, that Sue had introduced himself to in his human form. That had been before he'd really gotten an idea of how things worked, though; now that he realized that it was unusual, if not unique to him, for Guardians to have a fully human form, the information had become suddenly more precious to him. The less people that knew he was a kid that went to school, hung with friends, had a family... you know how it was. The less chance someone would find a way to take advantage of it.

The chin shifted around a bit, suggesting (if one were adept in reading chin-language) that Sue might have smiled. "Your girls, eh? Who are you looking for?" Normally, this would be the point where he mentioned that the Zodiacs might be able to keep an eye out - in light of recent events, though, he was more cautious about offering assistance. "I've got a few to find myself, hiding around somewhere. The rest of the Season senshi."

"Don't worry, the only other thing I could tell about you would be my shadow. It is always with me. I don't... I can't stay in one place too long." With her promise, the pale manx rubbed a furry cheek against his arm again. This was her way of confirming that she meant what she said (because she said what she meant).

Her eyes had never moved from his chin, but she managed to catch the strange movement. Unfortunately, this cat was better at reading eyes than chins. Perhaps with enough time she could become fluent in chins and make a living that way.

Was it possible to make a living off of chins that didn't involve surgery?

Focusing back on the conversation at hand, she couldn't help but point out "So I guess that means we are on the same boat, you and I!" It was always nice to have someone to relate to. So many others usually got confused when she brought up her girls. "That means you have 4 girls total you need to find, right?" Mentally, the tailless cat counted off the seasons. Spring was one, Summer was two, Fall was three, and Winter was four. She nodded her head as she confirmed it mentally, causing her little bell to jingle slightly.

"Well, I have found two of my girls, but that was sheer luck more than anything. Sailor Iris and Sailor Metis. However, I am still looking for 6 others." For the moment, she closed her eyes and paused, as if looking over the mental list she had. Then she almost seemed to read off said mental list aloud like she was reading a report in front of a class. "Sailor Hygiea, Sailor Parthenope, Sailor Victoria, Sailor Egeria, Sailor Irene, and Sailor Eunomia." Her eyes opened and once more resumed chin-staring, but she settled her head along his arm.

Her shadow? What about her shadow, now? Sue wasn't quite sure what the manx was getting at, but if nothing else, it sounded like it was some form of promise not to go around blabbing about his extra form. "Thanks." A little curt, maybe not as soft and friendly as she'd expect in response to her friendly cheek-rubs, but that was just how Sue interacted, of course. It didn't stop him from reciprocating with a scratch behind her ear, anyway.

"Only three, actually. We found Sailor Flora just a bit ago. Now it's just...." What were their names? The Princess had known, but Sue didn't have the same depths of knowledge as she did. He frowned, then went for the cop-out: "Summer, Fall, Winter. Flora was already awakened with the Moon court, somehow, so keep an eye out when you're meeting new senshi and make sure they're yours, right?" Whether ********* needed the lecture or not, who could say - but Sue wasn't exactly thrilled to have found out that he should be double-checking the work of the Moon kitties, making sure that none of the Season senshi got conscripted into the Moon court because someone wasn't paying attention, so it was worth a few words. "I'll keep an eye out for your girls, though, if there's time. I'm a bit busy right now, you know. Speaking of which...."

Speaking of which. Geez - like it just happened to come to mind. Like it hadn't been the ******** ghost haunting his existence since he learned of it. Still, serious as he was, Sue managed not to sound too dire when he asked, "Have you heard about what happened to the Opal Crystal?"
PostPosted: Thu Mar 18, 2010 12:00 pm

Oooooo, a scratch behind the ear! This Sue knew how to keep a kitty pleased, ********* noted this. She let out a tiny purr before refocusing on the conversation.

"Oh, I met Flora and Chronos the other day! They are both very nice, but Flora made my brain itch!" Honesty, ********* apparently believed in it. Her eyes glanced up to his chin. "I promise to remember the seasons you are looking for. Hopefully they won't make my brain itch like Flora did." There was a small pause so she could rub her cheek against his ear scratching hand, then she added "Thank you for your consideration!"

The Speaking of which did not go unnoticed, and both of her ears flicked slightly at the tone of his voice. Though she had been very comfortable in this large boy's arms, she shifted herself to the point where she was sitting on her haunches, forepaws pressing up against his chest to get a better look so she could at least see his eyes while he spoke to her. Eye contact was something very important to this cat, especially when receiving serious news.

"I cannot say I have heard much of anything, to be honest." Her ears flattened slightly against her skull. "Tell me what happened, Sue?" One of her paws lifted up and gently placed itself back against him, repeating the motion a couple times for a "there there" pat.

Flora had made her brain itch? That was a new one, for sure. Since becoming awakened, Sue's brain had done lots of things, but itching wasn't one yet. Which was good, because that sounded unpleasant. He still remembered the itchy agony of growing that tail and those ears....

Somewhere in the midst of this consideration, Sue discovered a cat head poking into his face. Nearly nose-to-nose with his conversation partner now, he found himself surprisingly unnerved. It just wasn't natural, you know, for cats to make eye contact like that. It was supposed to be a sign of dominance; Sue had to keep reminding himself, this was just a method of conversation.

"Our Opal Crystal was stolen by someone called the Black Lady, who claims to be Serenity." There - the information was all wrapped up and presented to *********, nice and tidy. Sue wasn't the sort to dance around this topics, clearly. "There's been no mention of this around the Moonies, eh? Not even from Astraea? Wonder if she even knows...."
PostPosted: Thu Mar 18, 2010 1:55 pm

"Black Lady? Serenity?" ********* fur about her face puffed up slightly. "That doesn't sound right?" Obviously, she did not know about this, but in her mind somewhere something didn't sound right at all. For a moment, her eyes glanced away, as if she wanted to think some things over in what he said. A few things turned in her mind, and eventually her next statement probably did not come as a surprise at all.

"I haven't heard about that... and in all honesty, I haven't seen Astraea. Trust me, I've been looking for her, but I can't find her!" Just chalk that up as yet another failure for the manx right there. 6 girls missing, 1 girl who was completely reluctant, and now ********* wasn't even able to locate her "boss" so to speak.

There had been a pause for the pale feline to ponder over all of this again, but then another concern seemed to pop up out of nowhere. "How is Serenade? Oh my, is she alright?" Once again, her pale green eyes were on his blue ones, waiting for the answer to her important question.

"She's... better." A loaded question got a loaded answer. They were starting to get out of the little alleyways now, though. No people in sight yet, but there was the sound of traffic not so far off. Sue was walking more slowly now, as though trying to stretch out the time for open conversation. "She took it pretty hard there, for a while," Sue admitted. "I'm not happy much about it, either. I... wasn't there, you know? And I should have been. She could have called me, but instead...."

Sue hadn't said that to anyone yet. The Zodiacs didn't need his self-pitying, after all. But ********* was a Guardian, like he was; she had to understand. To protect and serve was the rudimentary instinct that all Guardian Cats shared; even such a strange one as Sue, even such a new one as *********. To have failed was bad; to have never had the chance, that was undeniably worse. If the Moon Court's princess was found - dead in a ditch, killed by the Negaverse before anyone could so much as say hello - that was the feeling.
PostPosted: Thu Mar 18, 2010 2:21 pm

There was a momentary silence as both "cats" seemed to think over the subject. ********* knew exactly what Sue was trying to say, even if his words didn't come out right. So where, she didn't say a word, she rubbed her cheek against his. Her whiskers poked slightly against his skin, and her fur probably tickled slightly, but this was her way of saying "I know what you mean."

As if she could tell that there would be people within an earshot in the near future, the spotted feline took to speaking in a lower tone. "I promise that if I manage to find Astraea... I will let her know what you've told me. Well... at least what you'll let me tell her." For a moment, her mind seemed to go back over what she had been told, disbelief touching upon her tone.

"Black Lady... Serenity?" Her ears flattened on her head again. "The name itself just sounds bad."

"She knows the rest, anyway, so you can talk with her about anything," Sue assured *********. "She's the one that woke me up, after all. And thanks - I'd owe you one." As though the Zodiacs didn't already owe the Moon court - assuming that the Black Lady really didn't have any affiliation with them. That Astraea wouldn't s**t her pants, hearing that there was Serenity around, and pledge allegiance without a second thought.

God, Sue hoped it didn't go to that.

But this was about as far as they would go; this next turn would put them in sight of the main road, and there was no easy way to carry on a conversation from there. Sue stopped altogether. "I think this's where you get off," he said gently, running his hand one last time over the fur of her head and back. Stooping down, he loosened his grip enough that ********* could take the final little leap to the ground. "Look, you know Meadowview High, right? Well, that's where I go. I'm usually outside around lunchtime, so you can look for me. If you need help with anything, you catch up with me, okay?"
