Replica teeth or all shapes and sizes lay on the floor before Gabbie. She was sitting in the lotus position and staring, with her chin in her hand. She’d already sorted out the mass of doubles (why did people insist on giving her teeth, anyway?) and was debating between the merits of shark teeth versus saurian teeth. Granted, shark teeth were easily identifiable for what they were. But the various raptor family teeth she owned had a certain flair to them too. So. Which would Elzo like better?

After several moments of thought, she decided on some of the smaller dinosaur tooth replicas and thought that they might make an interesting earring/pendant set. Clearing the teeth that hadn’t been chosen carefully away, she went to her closet and got out her jewelry making supplies and her little, girly Dremmel. Fortunately, those replicas were decent stone casts and had been colored and polished to look like actual teeth rather than brown, discolored lumps of stone.

Taking her supplies, she headed for the kitchen. She knew this was going to be a dirty job and she didn’t feel like dealing with getting stone dust out of carpet. Tile floors were much easier to clean. Sitting at the table, she pulled a pair of safety goggles down over her eyes and turned the mini-drill on. With quiet, careful concentration, she managed to drill tiny holes through the tops of each tooth. Next, she would have to thread the wire through that would create the loop that she could then attach jewelry settings to.

The earring came first. Nevermind that she wasn’t sure if Elzo even wore an earring or not. He could always get pierced later if he really wanted to. Gabbie just liked that idea of a tooth earring. And a matching necklace. She even had some ice blue clay beads that she thought would set everything off nicely.

It took Gabbie the better part of the afternoon to finally get everything set and finished to her own satisfaction. Once the teeth and clay beads were set , she grabbed a tiny bottle of clear nail polish gel and brushed a light coat over each tooth near where she’d drilled. It wouldn’t do to leave the tiny holes unprotected and risk water getting inside and possibly ruining the replicas. With a tiny paintbrush, she swept the gel into the holes and blew gently on them to dry. There! That was the earring and pendants for the necklace done. Hunting through her suede cording, she found an blue that matched the clay beads and carefully strung teeth and beads upon three lengths of the cord. Once that was done, she clamped the ends into the open end of the clasp caps and tightened everything down.

With a pleased grin, she inspected her work. Nothing was going to come loose from earring or necklace. With a chuckle, she dug out a tiny cardboard box and set the jewelry inside. She’d have to give Elzo a call to set up a time to give him his present. But that could wait till a little later. Right now, she wanted a bath to rinse the stone dust from her skin.
