It was a lazy, sleepy day. It seemed to the cub that the entire pride was in their dens, dozing in the damp air, lulled by the steady pattering of raindrops. Kaleth, however, was restless. He'd napped as much as a cub could be expected to nap! It was time to play, or explore, or stalk, or something!! Without a look back into the den he shared with his brothers and mother, he stepped out into the rain. He figured his brothers would join him if they woke, but right now, he had a wet world to explore!

He paused when he first felt drops strike his headfur, ears swiveling and eyes wide. The sky overhead looked strange. he'd never taken time to examine it during a storm before. It was not a bright, nor was it blue. Instead a blothy canopy of grey arched overhead. His nose quivered and his whiskers bristled. It didn't just smell wet after all! It semlled... he took several more steps out into the rain. Whey, it smelled... green! And there was a rich earthy smell that made his paws tingle. Nose held higher, mouth open slight to pant softly to better take in these intriguing smells, he padded slowly forward, emerging fully from the protecting roof of their home cave.

A particularly fat drop plunked coldly on the sensitive tip of his nose, and the cub gave a sharp gasp, fluttering open eyes that had drifted closed in the ecstasy of scent. The smaller drops sprinkling upon him were negligible, but another large droplet plopped on his hind end, near the base of his tail. He leapt and spun about, as if to face a play-foe. He flicked his tail, spraying tiny bits of glowing light, and he spun again to try and watch it arc through the air.

It wasn't long before the quiet air was fully of cubby laughter. Rain was fun!
