AIM Log -- Lith & Nuxaz
Vicheko & Laramie

Laramie uncurled herself yawning as she stretched her limbs out. That had been such a nice nap and she was thankful to be away from the heat of the desert. Here, where ever here was, was much cooler than the last place she had been and she had to admit she was very grateful for that fact. That and it was soooo much easier for her to curl up and rest without any worries about some rogue mean lion attacking her.

Not that it had happened she had just...er heard stories about mean lions that attacked others that weren't a part of their pride.

But she didn't have to worry about it anymore, she was in a safer place, she could tell. There was something about this place that seemed familiar. It had a lot of trees and vegetation in general which made her so comfortable. She loved nature.

"Mmm! Nothing like a good Nap!"

--

“I agree,” a voice purred from seemingly no where.

He stepped out from the shadow of a tree, a wide grin on his face. It was neither friendly nor menacing, lingering somewhere in between like a mixture of both that just shouldn’t have been possible. And yet that was the expression he were, disconcerting and yet somehow innocent, his green and blue eyes bright and eager as he examined the female.

“Did you take a good one, then?” He asked, canting his head, blue mane billowing lazily with the motion, “or are you just announcing how good they are?”

He padded up to her, sitting down nearby without a trace of threat in his posture, but without any shyness or hesitance either. He was either really confident, really dangerous, or just really weird. Or, like his smile, something in between.

--

Nothing could quite prepare Laramie, or possibly the stranger that had caught her off guard, for what happened next. She was on her feet and let out a practically ear-splitting scream. "Eeeeeeeyaaaaah!" She shriek leaping back away from whatever direction the voice was coming from. It was safe to say that the pale lioness was not someone that took being surprised well. "Who-who's there?!" She cried whirling around to find the person speaking to her.

Her dark red-purple eyes found him and she found her posture relaxing just the slightest bit. His grin was slightly comforting yet unsettling and she struggled to smile back at him, it was thin and uncertain. "Uh...I did," she replied nervously scratching the ground. "H-how long have you been there?"

--

The blue striped lion watched her with wide eyes, his grin falling a bit as she let out the highest pitch scream he had ever heard. Of course, he was not in the business of making anyone scream, so it was one of the only ones he had ever heard. Still, he was certain it was far too loud, even for a scream. Ears flat on his head, he looked a bit nonplussed because of it, one paw slightly raised in surprise.

His grin instantly returned, though, by the time her eyes fell on him. “I only just arrived,” he explained, answering the last question before addressing the first, “and heard your comment. I thought it was an invitation to dialogue.”

Padding a bit closer to her, he tilted his head and examined her, grin now lopsided.

“I’m sorry if I startled you. What do you call yourself? I’m Vicheko, if that is what you were going to ask next.”

--

Suddenly she felt embarrassed, he clearly wasn't some creepy stalker that had been watching her sleep, no that was just a silly idea. And from his reaction he certainly hadn't been expecting her to react the way she had which made her feel bad. It showed in the was she frowned, her eyebrows knitted together, and her ears flattened against her head. "S-sorry, I was a little startled," she explained biting her bottom lip.

"Well, it wasn't not an invitation to chat but I didn't exactly know anyone else was around," she told him with a sheepish smile, she was feeling a little bit better about the situation seeing as he wasn't mad at her but she hadn't quite recovered yet. "It's okay," she replied quietly pawing at the ground again.

"Um, my name is Laramie," she said with a small nod. "I'd say it's nice to meet you but...er, I don't think it was the best way to get introduce? Y'know with me screaming and everything.

--

He watched her frown, nodding slowly.

“You shouldn’t apologize for being startled. Anyone can get scared if they’re not expecting something. I just happen to be good at being unexpected,” he purred. He had imagined she hadn’t expected anyone to be nearby, which was exactly why he walked over and spoke to her. He liked the way people reacted when he dropped in on them from no where.

Of course, usually they didn’t scream like that.

But he wasn’t upset by that. “Laramie? That is a pretty name,” he murmured. He nodded, “yes, I like it very much. And I thought the introduction was just fine. So. What brings you to this fine napping spot?”

She found herself smiling at him as he told her not to apologize. He certainly seemed nice, after he scared her that was. "Well, I guess you are rather...er talented in that aspect," she replied with a small shrug of the shoulders. "How, er, how often do you do this sort of thing?" she inquired biting her lip lightly. It seemed rather odd to her that someone would go out and enjoy sneaking up on people.

Laramie blinked glancing down at his compliment. "Oh, well thank you. It's the only think my mother left me with," she replied glancing back up at him. It was true, the female knew very little of her mother, for one reason or another she had disappeared and she had been raised solely by her father. Not that she minded though, she simply wondered what her mother was like. "I like to travel, it's what I do," she explained with a small nod. "My paws just happened to lead me here, what brings you here?"

--

The brightly colored lion purred, nodding his head. He knew he was good at surprising people, and it always seemed odd to him when they apologized for being startled. If anything, he should say sorry for startling them in the first place, but he never did. Instead, he just smirked.

"How often?" he echoed thoughtfully, "whenever the inclination takes me, I suppose. Which is a fancy way of saying... all the time." He chuckled, flicking his tail.

"I've been exploring these lands. There's something about them, don't you think?" he looked at the trees, nodding slowly, "something, indeed. I like things that are confusing. That I don't understand right away: it means there's a challenge, something interesting. Something I get to contemplate."

He grinned. "But traveling, that's good. Have you been anywhere fascinating? Or perhaps dangerous?" He canted his head again, eyes fixed on her.

--

Laramie was different from the male in the aspect that she hardly ever went out of her way to surprise anyone nor to catch them off guard in any way shape or form. She was a rather soft spoken female who had the tendency to keep to herself but could be very friendly and sociable if given the opportunity.

"That sounds like it could be very enjoyable, I myself have never tried it," she commented frowning slightly as she thought about it. "How do others usually react when you catch them off guard?" she asked finding herself wondering if any had responded to him the way she had.

She pressed her lips together as her purple eyes skirted across the area. "I agree," she replied nodding. "There's something to how the wind blows and the leaves rustle. A strange air about this area," she commented unsure if she actually knew what she was talking about. What she did know was that something was different here than previous places she had been to and that she found it almost comforting.

"There are so many places I've managed to visit so far, all interesting in different ways," she eagerly told him glad for the opportunity to tell him about the places she had seen. "The most recent place I have been was the desert, lots of sand and very hot," she began. "There were certain areas I had to be careful and avoid, I have been told that there was a pride that did not take kindly to outsiders, that they take slaves even, something I do not think I would enjoy."

--

He chuckled, purring contentedly. There was music in his purr, a hum in the back of his throat that came through the sound, guiding it. He was almost constantly purring, rarely in a bad mood, and it only shut off, really, when he was sleeping. Though, he did know there were times when purring was not welcome. Right now just wasn't one of those times.

She seemed like a nice enough female, and though he had surprised her she stuck around to talk to him. He liked that very much. He made friends in his own head rather easily, though it never occurred to him to check in with what they thought on the subject. He didn't need them to consider him a friend, after all, to consider them one.

"They usually react much like you, though sometimes I meet the less than friendly ones. You, however, have proven very pleasant, and I very much enjoy your company," he nodded, like it was a good compliment.

"The desert! That sounds rather interesting! I've never been to a place of sand. A bit harder to fade away in an open place like that." He chuckled. "As far as slaves go... I don't see the point of them. If you're clever enough, there's no need to make anyone do anything." He had a very simple philosophy, but it suited him well enough.

--

She was a rather easy female to please and had no difficulty striking up a conversation when it was clear to her that it was what the other creature wanted. Hardly ever did she flee or excuse herself from a situation even if it had a rocky start, as this one had. Unless hostility was clear she she remained where she was and that seemed to be the best strategy for her.

"Thank you," she replied flattered by his constant compliments. "I only try to be as pleasant as the person I am speaking with," she stated in a complimenting sort of way. "And the desert was interesting though I must admit it certainly was not the place for me," she shook her head. She had remained there only long enough to get across it. The minute she was out of the area she had felt nothing but pure relief.

"Slaves are a sign of laziness and of weakness," she agreed sighing softly. "It benefits no one."

Vicheko nodded slowly as she tried to gracefully accept his compliments, and return them with her own. She was rather successful, and he grinned at that. He didn't mean to be creepy, but it certainly happened sometimes. Right now, however, he managed to just smile like a 'normal' lion might if greatly amused.

He thought about the desert for a moment longer, but decided it really wouldn't be the place for him. Just how would he surprise lions if he was constantly on top of ugly, dull dunes? No, the forest, with all its hideaways, was the place for him.

This place, in particular, seemed apt in an odd way that he couldn't explain. Just a feeling he got, in the air or something.

"I agree with you, partly, about slaves. As I said, one can just do everything they need to by themselves. Or with, ah," he purred, "with willing participants. Slaves has such a negative feel to it. The word, I mean." He tilted his head, then shrugged and dropped the subject. "I think I want to stay here."

The desert certainly was the white lioness's least favorite terrain to be in. She preferred the grass and shade of forest like areas or the jungle even despite the humidity. She didn't mind the sand that much, she just hated the heat so much that she associated it with the sand.

The ocean and the area that came with it was her exception. The constant breeze and the lush greenery nearby made the sand completely bearable for her because she didn't always have to be on it.

"Exactly," Laramie agreed nodding her head. "Pawning off all your work on to someone else who is a captive of yours is lazy and unneccesary. Asking for help of course is a completely different matter," she stated. She shrugged, she saw no point to slavery and was glad that he changed the subject.

"Do you? It's a nice area, I certainly like it here."
