The wind blew strong today as leaves from nearby trees collided and rushed around as if they were late for something. Rising up high before dropping to the ground, the ground which was covered in the debris of the battle overhead, the deep cussion of leaves giving a slight crunch under foot. Trees filled the surrounding area, like arrows stuck in the ground, in the distance were dence areas of bamboo, blocking off the area so it was almost like an arena. Breaking through the ground was a rotting old building, built using wood with smashed window, one on each side, the doorway had a wooden frame and the door was open, since it's hinges had been destroyed it simple rest against the frame work. Thhe sun was high at this point as it was around mid day, this meant the only place with shadow was within this shack.

This was somewhere Kuma had never even heard of before, but he was told under good advice this was the fastest way into 5th squad territory. He walked through the wooded area keeping his eye out for any signs of the 5th. He noticed a shack in the distance and noticed a sign on it, darting through the trees he reached the Shack only to discover a dirt covered sgn that was cleary decades old, lifting his hhand he banged against the sign causing the dirt to drop off. '5th squad training grounds rest centre' "Hmm?" Kuma tilted his head to the left side, he then laughed out "Have I gone back in time or something? This is blatantly an unused sight and not much of a 'rest centre' either, but I guess if you needed somewhere to sleep if gives you shelter" Continueing to laugh he moved to venture inside. SNAP. Something crushed a stick in the distance, this stopped Kuma and caused him to rotate on the spot, ready in his mind but not gettingg into any stance just yet. "Who goes there?...Anyone?" Kuma wasn't getting a responce and murmered to himself "Must be some kind of animal"

Waiting for the member of the 5th squad he had yet to meet he decided this was probably somewhere he would know, afterall it's a good place to describe 'I'm just by the old rest shack in some woods' Kuma leant against the shack taking a sip of his whiskey. Not being one to just walk up to the front door he found his little adventure here quite funny, but still hoped that he was in the right place.

Genji waited in the large open meadow situated within the serene forest for his student to arrive. Earlier that day, Genji read notes over the student that he would be teaching today. Kuma Hageshi was an unseated member of Squad 7 and relatively new to the Sereitei. He had requested two rather difficult Kido right at the start: Shakkaho and Soukatsu. That was enthusiasm, but hopefully he would be cautious about the training.

As he continued to wait in the center of the meadow, sitting with his legs and arms folded, he sensed the reiatsu of a Shinigami somewhere in the forest. He stood up and walked into the forest of investigate who had arrived. Following the reiatsu led him to a decommissioned rest house that was built in the forest years ago. There were plans to tear it down and build a new one, but the details were not known to Genji. It was there that he saw Kuma Hageshii.

"Good morning, Hageshii-san," Genji said courteously with a bow. "My name is Genji Kazemaru, and I will be your instructer today. I suppose the directions delivered to you weren't too clear. You are about a few meters off. We will be practicing in a large meadow a little ways from here. Follow me and we can begin your training."

Hearing a voice he knew he must have been found. Responding to Genji Kuma smiled and blushed slightly. "Sorry I'm useless with directions and i've never been here before" He smiled again "Good I was starting to get worried about all these trees anyway" Following Genji into the open meadow Kuma felt he should get to know Genji, after all he was doing a big favor for him. He had very little knowledge of Kidou and to have someone so skilled would make it alot easier. "Thank you for helping me with this, I'm rather new and fairly lacking on kidou knowledge as it is, but no pain no gain eh?" He laughed slightly as they continued onto the open meadow. Taking a stance in the meadow he tightened his wraps around his fore arms and hands, lowered his hat and took a deep breath. "Ok Genji where do we start?"

"Give me a moment to see where you stand," Genji said kindly.

Genji took a clipboard from his backpack. He quickly flipped through a few pages and scanned them. He hummed a tune as he read the notes on each page. He cradled his chin on between his thumb and index finger.

"It says here that you are pretty new," said Genji, still reading the page. "You haven't specialized in a martial art yet. That's not surprising, considering the recent events in Squad 7. Hmm... It also says that Kido is not a strong suit of yours." Genji looked up at Kuma. "You want to learn Hado #31 and #33. Both of those are intermediate spells and not recommended for tenderfoots, but you can still try. First off, I want to see how you fare using the basics." Genji pointed to some wooden target posts in the distance. "Show me how you perform Hado #4. It's a basic projectile Kido and a good first step to learning others like Hado #31. Practice a few times so that you can get warmed up."

Kuma blushed as he heard his stats, not very impressive he knew but good things come to those who wait, especially when you worked as hard as Kuma did. Taking a deep breath he lifted his arm straight, opened his hand and stretched out his fingers. "Hadou #4 byakurai" Concentrating on his Kidou he let the white lightning out, however it was simply a small, fine line of lightning that was more of a spark than lightning. Kuma knew this was because he was holding back, to affraid to trust his ability. Shaking his head he repeated the process and called out again "Hadou #4 byakurai!" He yelled out this time and put all his efforts into it, suddenly there was a huge explosion from his hand, sparks flew everywhere. Kuma took a few shocks to the face aswell which slightly irritated him. Taking a second he thought to himself 'Don't be affraid, but be in control' He repeated the process again "Hadou #4 byakurai!" This time the lightning shot forward from his index finger, it was pretty accurate and well done, but was also the best he had performed it. Although he was bad at controling reiatsu he had the determination to overcome that, this was his reason for being here today, to prove he could learn these new abilities.

"Maybe not as good as your 5th squad members but atleast I got there in the end?" He laughed slightly knowing that he didn't exactly put on a good show.

Genji smiled kindly at Kuma. He could tell that Kuma was nervous by the jerky charge and discharge of his reiatsu during his attempts at Hado #11. This would be a challange for Kuma. Both of the spells that Genji was going to teach him would surely test Kuma's ability.

"You shouldn't feel bad, Hageshii-san," said Genji softly. "It's okay. I have seen others struggle with Hado too. Just relax next time. If you relax your body and clear your mind, that makes learning Kido much easier. Doubts and anxieties will distract you and interupt your reiatsu control, leading to error in your spell's execution. Believe in yourself." Genji smiled cutely. "Here, let me show you what a little confidence will get you."

Genji stepped away a few steps to get some distance from Kuma so that the spell's backlash wouldn't hit him too hard. He faced one of the numerous wooden targets set up in the meadow. Genji's relaxed his shoulders and breathed smoothly. A faint glow of emerald began to glisten along his body and condence at his arms and hands.

"Watch me, Hageshii-san. I will demostate Hado #31. Just like Hado #11, you must focus your reiatsu into your hands to fire. Of course, this one requires a lot more. Do exactly as I do."

Genji forced his right hand out and held it steady with his left hand. "Hado #31 Shakkaho!"

A shining orb of brilliant crimson became ablaze on his palm. The sphere of light short foward, unleashing a backlash of wind that shook the tree leaves. It stuck the target, incinerating it, and left a small crater where it used to be. Genji grinned and looked at Kuma.

"Now it is your turn. If you need any advice, feel free to ask me."

Kuma smiled at Genjis reassuring words, he was a very helpful teacher in Kumas opinion. Listening to his words he knew that indeed he would need to relax, after all he had the heart to pull it off. He watched as Genji stepped forth to show how it was done, his arm lifted, reinforce by the second, the words leaving his mouth so lightly, the creation of the orb within an instant, suddenly he blasted it forward and devastated the target. "Thank you Genji, I shall give it my all"

Taking his stance he took a deep breathe and cleared his mind. "Hadou #31 Shakkaho!" He held up his arm and reinforced it just as Genji did, and began to concentrate his reiatsu into his hand. Concentrating more he managed to form a small orb like shape which fluttered in his hand. Pushing a little harder Kuma made the orb more solid, pushing it to grow slightly. Although it was not yet perfectly formed it was close enough for Kuma, he aimed at the wooden target to the left of Genjis destroyed one. The shot burst throw the air, ripping at its surroundings as it flowed unsteadily, smashing to the ground around the target it left burnt marks all around the target. Sitting there almost mockingly the target was untouched. 'That was good, but not good enough. Just need to get the targeting better and keep a tighter grip on my reiatsu'. Kuma got into his stance again and took another deep breath.

'This time i'll do it for sure' Kuma said to himself and he flexed his hand, already in position. Taking another deep breath he called out. "Hadou #31 Shakkaho!" With that he channeled his reiatsu through and created another, slightly less fuzzy ball at the end of his hand, his palm vertical the pinkish glow lit it up. The sphere grew to roughly and equal size as his hand. Suddenly Kuma shot the orb across towards the target, he had no real rebound from the attack but it reach the target and crashed into it, putting a hole in the target and generally breaking it Kuma leapt into the air. "Yes! I knew I could do it" He grinned to himself, it was so much easier to control his reiatsu after taking a deep breath, Genki had really helped him with this and he was greatfully thankful. Turning to him he smiled and said "Thank you for your help after last time, it really helped me with this one, but I think the next kidou will test me the most" Kuma said before quiickly repeating the motions "Hadou #31 Shakkaho!" Concentrating again with his deep breathes he sent out another shot, still not very powerful but still fast and accurate. 'That's good enough for me' Kuma told himself, overwhelmed by the speed he picked it up with, however he knew the next would be far more complex.

Genji nodded with a smile.

"You have improved," said Genji cheerfully. "You will need more practice on adding power to your blasts. The next spell, when compared to Hado #31, isn't too complicated in understanding form and reiatsu flow. However, it is far more powerful and does require a significant increase in reiatsu charged for proper execution. After seeing your last performance, I am still hopeful that you will master it someday. Hado #31, in my goofy analogy, is the younger brother of the two. He is not as strong as the older brother, Hado #33. The older brother is stronger and more difficult to over come in battle; Hado #33 is harder to control, and accuracy is harder to sustain. Furthermore, you will need to use more reiatsu to do it. It won't be easy..." Genji looked stern, but a smile broke that, "but I'm sure that you can handle it. Watch me."

Genji reenacted the pose he did for Hado #31. This time, however, his reiatsu was more intense. A gust of wind slowly started to come to life around his feet and raise about his body. The trees breathed in with apprehension.

"Hado #33 Soukatsui!"

From his palm, a glorious blast of pearl and cerulean rushed out with fury. The trees shook and applauded the power as the wind from the spells formation whipped them. The energy blasted the target into nothingness and left a far larger crater.

"I don't expect it to come easily, but you will get it." Genji smiled at him. "Have faith in yourself, Hageshii-san. If you ask me, that is more important than any kido."

Nodding in agreement he understood what he would need to do and what could improve his previous efforts. Moving into the same position, his arm outstretched with a supporting hand he gathered his reiatsu and concentrated on controlling it, this was it, he needed to add more reiatsu. Keeping his reiatsu flowing wildly he built it up higher and higher. "Hadou #33 Soukatsui!" Kuma shhouted as he attempted to control his reiatsu. Bursting out the orb that had appeared moved like a drunken cat towards the target, slamming into anything but its goal, however it definately packed a larger punch as it devastated the ground it hit. Kuma was impressed with the power behind the shot and knew what to do. Repeating the actions he called out. "Hadou #33 Soukatsui!" Controlling the orb and feeding more reiatsu into it he fire the attack towards the nearby targets, yet nothing happened, he missed again, more powerful yet far less accurate. Kuma gritted his teeth, he didn't want it to come to this. "Genji-san you are about to see something very few have, prepare yourself"

To get the control he needed and the seriousness he drew upon a rare occurance, moving his left hand behind himself he sat it upon his zanpakto as he raised his right hand to the lip of his hat, gripping it he raised it and threw it up into the air. His dark brown hair flowed freely in the wind as his eyes shined bright, the almonds that had almost never been seen, he had a hansome face, yet Kuma kept it hidden. Without his hat he always had a burst of concentration and naturally his strength improved. It was an air of seriousness that got the job done. "Hadou #33 Soukatsui!" He moved his arms into position, prepared his reiatsu and took a deep breath. Wind started to build around his feet and the orb appeared, as it grew so did the wind. Eventually he had given the orb a chunk of his reiatsu and it was loaded to the brim. Releasing the attack towards the target it sliced through the air striking the target and destroying it in one, there was no real crater but hitting the target was good enough. Turning to Genji with the serious look still on his face he picked up his hatand placed it back upon his head. He then smiled to Genji. "I think I got the basics of it right?" He laughed as he asked "Do you have any advice?"

This was very unexpected. First of all, Genji was surprised by Kuma removing his hat, yet he was even more surprised by the effect of removing his hat had on his performance.

"I would recommend that you keep practicing," Genji advised. "You have made a lot of progress in form and concentration, but you still need to refine your accuracy and power output. Other than that, you have done very well. Congradulations." Genji bowed to his student. "If you would like some more training another day, feel free to drop by anytime." Genji smiled happily at the new student that he felt would be a very reliable and good friend.

((Yay at learning hadou #31 and #33 razz Yeah I wanted the hat to be kind of like kenpachi and his eye patch but not actually do anything to his reiatsu etc, just get him to be serious and show what hes got))
