Erdre flopped down in the sun, opening the latest addition to her collection, a book on famous artists. She wasn't totally interested in reading it, but the pictures were interesting to look at.

Maelios let out a rather deep sounding sigh once he had finally emerged from the commotion that been surrounding the latest bit of news. Granted, he had never thought of the four foxes that it would be Arella, of all Noodles, to become a parent first. However, while he had chosen to take a higher ground and be happy for her, Kebei had become increasingly angry over the whole ordeal. Jealous would be the best way to explain it. Aianii had now been spending most of her time trying to keep hostilities to a minimum. And as for Maelios... well... he had been trying to get Arella to even realize what was happening, but the more he tried, the less Arella seemed to notice anything that was going on around her.
At this point Maelios had decided to give up, at least for now. The implement of the whole situation was growing rather tiresome very quickly. An argument had broke out- yet again, and this time he had decided instead of sticking around to help defuse the situation that he would instead slip out while everyone was distracted.
His escape had gone unnoticed (thankfully!) and he found himself standing in a much more serene area. Letting out a breath of relief, he took a glance around to notice Erdre laying with a book. Smiling to himself, he ventured toward her, "Hello!" He hoped this meeting would be just as well as the last. He needed something to get his mind off of what was going on with his roommates.

Erdre looked up at Maelios and smiled at him, marking her page in the book and closing it gently. "Hello, how have you been....its Ma...Maelios right?"

Giving a quick nod, he answered in a cheerful response, "It is indeed." Sitting down beside her, he took a moment or two to answer her first question, "Me? Well, technically I've been alright, some things with my housemates not so much... but I suppose that is a different matter altogether. How have you been?"

Erdre laughed softly, "Aah isn't having housemates fun?" She glanced down at her book. "Well, I just got a bunch of new books, so I'm great"

He gave a stifled laugh, trying to act nonchalant about the matter but it was clear that there was a hint of angst about the whole situation. "I use to think so... I don't do so well with the drama though." Tilting his head, he tried to peek a glance over her shoulder, "Oh? What kinds of books?"

Erdre smiled, it was clear that he wasn't happy about something, but he also didn't seem to want to talk about it, and not knowing him that well, she wasn't going to push it. "Well," she opened the book in front of her "this one is about famous artists, Michelangelo, Renoir, Picasso people like them, its got a bunch of awesome pictures." She flipped to a picture and showed it to him, "This one is called Starry Night, its by Van Gogh"

He smiled and nodded, "One of his most famous. Though my personal favorite is Cafe Terrace." He flipped through the book until he found the page, his head moving up and down in satisfaction. "This is a very neat book you have here." His eyes stayed directly on the book, reading the text beside it.

Erdre's eyes widened "Y...you know art? I...I've never met anyone else who knows artists. Who's your favorite?" She was flabbergasted that he knew of these paintings. All she'd ever known well were her house mates and they all had their own interests. She watched him skim through the book, still very surprised.

"Too many to pick from!" Giving a laugh, "Monet... Van Gogh... Salvador Dali... Picasso... I do have to say I love Rembrant and Da Vinci. But they're all great artists." His smile brightened at her surprise. She did look rather intriguing when she was taken by surprise.

Erdre shook her head a moment "Aah, I love Dali! I have to say, you're quite surprising. What else interests you?" For the first time in a long time, she truly wanted to know about another person and that thought frightened her as she remembered the last person she took the time to get to know.

Being put on the spot, he began to blush and stutter, "I..." He scratched the back of his head, nervousness now setting in, "Well I... like the stars... and... someday... I want to be a father.." Looks down for a long moment. "I've spent most of my life protecting others... and trying to make them happy, I guess I haven't taken a lot of thought into what I actually want.... or like... as silly as that might sound."

Erdre was shocked once again, most guys didn't admit to wanting to be a father, especially to a girl they barely knew. "The stars are lovely, do you know a lot about the constellations?" She contemplated him for a moment. "Well, perhaps you should stop and figure out what it is that makes you happy before you continue to make others happy first."

"I know a little bit, not as much as I wish I did though. I just love gazing out at the stars... it relaxes me." He gives a small smile. "I started trying to figure what each one was after that, I still haven't found every one yet." To her last statement he gave a slow nod, "Maybe... maybe someday I will. But I guess for now I just enjoy helping others out."

Erdre smiled, he truly seemed to enjoy the stars, which gave her an idea. She jumped up "Wait here a sec" and with that, ran off, returning several minutes later carrying a large book. She sat down in front of him and flipped it open, scanning a few pages before settling on one. "This is a picture of the sky we see this time of year, and if you look at the little numbers next to each constellation, see here?" she pointed at some numbers, almost too small to see, "if you go to that page, it gives you all the information available, mythology, types of stars, what time of year you see it, approximate age of the stars, everything."
