in ways we accept as part of fate's decree
Chirp, chirp.

Birds. Jax stared placidly at the little creatures, waiting boredly for his mother to figure out for the 100th time how to unstrap him from his stroller. He wasn't so sure about this area, but as of right now, anything was better than sitting here and watching his mom fumble around. After a few more minutes, the kitten found himself being swept up in the air.

A smile crept across his face momentarily, and he cuddled his face into his mother's neck affectionately. He did always love a good snuggle. He was not kept here, however, and soon found himself standing unsteadily at Tairi's feet. What was this about now?

"C'mon, Jaxxy. Let's get you on the playground." His tiny right paw was taken, and the toddler was being lead to some site made up of random shapes with a color scheme of vomitted up crayons. He wiped his nose with the back of his paw and then popped his thumb digit into his mouth. How irritating.

His mother dropped him off in the sand, and he found some temporarily interest in trying to sculpt things out of sand. All the while, he muttered quietly to his best friend. This friend, of course, was his ragged blanket he called "Raggy". Dear Raggy was currently settled in his lap, watching Jax struggle to get the dry sand to hold shape.

He finally took a break, sitting back with a huff. He took this moment to listen to the other children around him, watching them with a curious eye. His little ears twitched. What was this they were saying? He watched them start to walk away towards some bushes. A big kid playground?

Like all small children, Jax fancied himself a "big kid". He felt seriously wronged by the fact that he was not located on the proper playground, and felt he needed to rectify this error immediately. The little guy stumbled to his feet, and toddled his way over towards those bushes. Raggy was being dragged unceremoniously across the ground, but as usual, he didn't complain much.

Jax stood quite still when he came across this "big kid playground". It was obviously an older playground (well, he didn't know this, but we do) made of wood. It was much larger, and generally much less safe. Thus, to a child, it was 10x as cool. The tot smiled cheerily at his find. What luck.

Hahaaaa! Freedom! She had it! Xai had never let her out all on her own before, so she figured a celebration at the playground was in order. Evari had been here for a couple hours, playing with other kids until they realized just how weird she was and then running off to do something on her own. Right now she was hanging upside down from a set of metal monkey bars, swinging back and forth with her arms hanging down limply. She'd lost feeling in them by now but she didn't really care enough. Things were going well...there was just one problem...

Evari was incredibly bored.

How could she rectify this? Evari was looking around now, her vision being effected by the fact that she was wearing huge, gaudy goggles with colored lenses and shapes. That was when she spotted the weird little kitty cat standing by the bushes. Hey! He looked fuzzy! Like Pogo! Only different. Never one to overlook an opportunity, Evari leaned up to hold onto the monkey bars with her hands and free her legs, hanging right-side up until she let go and dropped to her feet with a little 'oof!'. She then turned on her heel and ran over to the little kitty boy, grinning widely. "Hi! Whatcha doin' here 'lone?" He looked so little! Like she'd been!

The little one turned his big green eyes towards the rapidly approaching girl, his ears twitching curiously. Why was she running towards him? He had been in the midst of a conversation with his blankie when she had spotted him, and now that she was headed towards him he let his attention drift from Raggie to this new person. After staring up at her thoughtfully, a slow smile spread across his lips. It seemed as if he accepted her. He now lowered his blanket, letting it lay limply from his tightly clasped little paw.

In response to her question, he pointed towards the older playground. His gaze turned towards it as well, wide with wonder, "Big ki' playg'own'd!" He announced happily, seeming pleased with his find. He left it at that for a moment, as if those three words answered her question in all entirety.

He then suddenly continued, rubbing at his nose with the back of a paw, "My mama o'er der. I dun wan play wif san' no mo'." He shook his head, taking a moment to pout a bit. Was she going to take him back there? He didn't want to go back to where he came from..

Man this kid was young! Even had a blanket still! Evari blinked and tilted her head to the side and then turned enough to look at the playground behind her, making an impressed sound. That park was okay...but she'd rather make her own fun than have to conform to that park's idea of fun! Slides that only did one thing? Pff! Booooring! She put her hands on her hips and shifted her weight from foot to foot, leaning down enough to be more level with the boy.

"Sand's borin'. Let's play a game!" She didn't know what game but did she ever? Evari always made up her games as she went along! Hopefully this boy would be more cooperative than the last boy she played with; Kay was fun, but that Ryan...hmph! She had to teach him a lesson soon. Oh, but she didn't know this boy's name. "'M Evari. What's yer name?"

The little one's ears lowered slightly, lips pursed, "San' borin'." He agreed. Maybe if it would have stuck together he could have had a bit more fun with it, but all he really saw it as was some weird, dry, grainy stuff that kinda hurt your skin a little if they touched. Plus, it made a nasty dirty film on his clothes that took forever to brush off. Ick. Dirty and boring.

He tilted his head slightly, "Game?" This seemed to catch his interest. Like most toddlers, he found games to be the high pinnacle of entertainment. "Wha' game wanna p'ay?" He was not quite as spontaneous as this girl was, and for a small moment his expression almost seemed wary. But really, as long as it wasn't rolling in the mud or something he was fine with it.

"I Jaxith." He introduced himself proudly. Most people found that a little too old sounding for someone so small and called him "Jax" or "Jaxxy", but he liked to call himself by his first name. Other people could call him whatever, but he liked the sound of his full name.

Evari looked proud when this little boy agreed about the sand, giving him a thumb's up to show him her approval of his words. When he asked what game they should play she blinked and looked around for ideas. What would they play? Her games usually came to her as they went along and for the most part everyone seemed to approve...with...just one exception.

That exception was still in huge trouble.

But there was one thing they had to take care of before they could play. Jax had that really bothersome blanket he was toting around with him. What was up with that? Who needed a blanket? It wasn't that cold out anymore it was almost Spring! How weird. Evari eyed him critically and held her chin between her thumb and index finger, putting her weight onto one leg and tilting her head a little to the side. She had a feeling if she got rid of the blanket he would cry, and crying was a biiiiig no-no. Crying made her mad, and when she was mad she didn't want to play. "Oh~!" Suddenly an idea came to her as to what to do with the blanket and she flashed him a huge smile. "Gimme yer blanket." Evari instructed Jax, holding her hand out for the blanket. Her hand would stay there and wait until he finally gave in and handed her the blanket. Once it was in her possession she reached around him with the blanket until it was on his shoulders, holding it longways up and down and tying the ends around his neck.

She stepped back to see her work and cheered. He had a cape now! "Super Jax!" Evari dubbed him, ruffling his hair. Now that the blanket was dealt with they just had to find something to do!

Jax gave a lopsided smile at the girl due to her approval, kneading his blanket idly in his hands as he awaited the game that they would be playing. The moment the girl mentioned that very blankie, a wary look crossed his face. He cocked a brow at her uncertainly, looking down at his beloved fabric. After all, this blankie was his best friend. He didn't just hand him over to anybody... But.. Raggy did like to play as well, and probably would want to be incorporated into the game. He decided to go along for now, and if anything happened he didn't want- well, he'd protect his blanket at all costs.

" 'is name Waggy." He informed the girl as he handed the blanket over, seeming almost snooty for a moment due to his tone. Strange for an infant. But it lasted only a moment, and soon he was back to looking up at her with those trusting toddler eyes.

He cocked his head slightly, looking at what she had done with his friend. Hmm. A cape. He seemed pleased, which was a good thing, because really that could have gone either way with him. His cheeks puffed up in shock the moment she touched his hair, and he stared at her with a bewildered expression as if she had just pushed him down into the sand. "AHNNN." He groaned out his displeasure, taking a moment to fix his hair. "I wan' my hair like dis." After preening his hair for a moment or two, he gazed around hopefully for one of those magical reflective surfaces he loved so much-- but alas, there were none. He sulked for a mere moment due to that fact, and continued messing with his hair as he looked up at the older girl. "I no wike it when messy hair." He informed her in broken tot English, seriously, as if informing her of an important fact. "Like when like dis."

If he was older and had a longer attention span, he probably would have continued his sulking-- or, rather, if they weren't on the verge of something exciting. But they were. He remembered almost instantly-- they were about to play a GAME!

He seemed to have forgiven her for her wrongdoings right then, reaching up in an attempt to take her hand. "Wanna p'ay!" He reminded her now, as if informing her of his forgiveness. He gave her a bright smile. "Su'er Jax wanna p'ay. Wha' do now, 'Vari?"

Despite all odds, it seemed as if he were liking this girl. She was different from what he new- perhaps a little more of a loud personality than he usually liked, but she brought lots of fun with her it seemed. That was definitely something new for the quiet little kitten.

"Waggy?" Evari stared at the blanket. It wasn't very waggy, was it? Only tails were waggy. What a strange name for a blanket...wait who even named blankets? That was really weird! Oh well, maybe Waggy was his pet like Ted. She gasped and brought her hand back away from Jax's head like she'd just been burned when he suddenly had a cow over his hair being touched. Haha, funny. A cat having a cow! Get it? Because he was a cat and...cats are...smaller than cows...

...Shut up she thought it was funny.

She watched him, dumbfounded by his sudden change in behavior and his desperation to smooth down his hair. The heck? That was so weird. If someone ruffled Evari's hair she'd be giggling and laughing and she'd love it! It was a cool sign of affection! Her brow furrowed a little when he said he didn't like his hair to be...messy? But she'd barely...but he...he was a kid! Kids had messy hair! People who fretted over their hair must've been so boring! Eugh. But he was just a little kid, she'd still give him a chance.

At least Jax was quick to recover from this strange switch in irritating personality, letting him take her hand and smiling down at him. Okay, this kid was alright again. "Weeeeell leeeeeet's..." They needed a cool game. Evari led him away from the bushes in a random direction, not quite sure where they were going just that they were going somewhere. For now it seemed to be a fort with several slides at all different levels, with stairs and ladders and rope ladders for them to climb up and down as well. It was like a fortress! Beside the fortress was a line of swings. Hm...fort...swings...fort...swings...

She looked down at Jax in his improvised super hero cape, grinning and pointing at the swings. "Wanna fly, Super Jax?"

This definitely seemed to have caught the kitten's attention. His eyes widened immediately as she suggested it. "Fwy!?" He had been trodding alongside the older girl diligently when her suggestion was made, regarding their surroundings with an almost comical seriousness. Hey, for a kid, potential fun was serious business. He quickly turned his gaze to her now, seeming momentarily enraptured by the idea, a stunned look coming across his face. And then... Slowly, an eager grin crept across the little one's face.

Oh, now this was exciting. This wouldn't be boring at all~! He had been considering those big looking slides, but this sounded soo much more fun. He tugged excitedly on Evari's hand, still grinning from ear to ear, "Y'ah! Wanna fwy!" Without knowing exactly what she had planned, Jax began trouncing his merry way over towards where she pointed- the swings. "Su'er Jax wanna fwy!" He even momentarily held out his arms like a super hero here. Oh, he was ready for this.

Awesome, he was very interested in learning how to fly. Evari was going to have fun with this. There was soft sand all around the swing area, so if a kid fell off even from high up it wouldn't hurt so much. It might sting a little, but it wouldn't hurt for very long! Evari laughed when he confirmed that he did want to fly and even tugged on her hand. Yay! This kid was so cooperative, she didn't have to worry about him running off crying on her!

"'Kay! So, what we're gonna do is...hm..." Maybe it would be easier to demonstrate? "Yer gonna get on, an' I'm gonna push you until she tell me it's too high...and then you jump off! I'll show ya." Evari freed her hand from Jax's to run to one of the empty swings, climbing on one of them and making sure it was an okay one before slowly starting to swing herself back and forth. Since this was just a demonstration she didn't go very high this time, only getting herself up a few feet before she suddenly let go of the chains and flew off the seat. She landed neatly in the sand...sort of. Evari landed on her feet but they did slip out from under her after a couple seconds of trying to catch herself and she landed on her butt, laughing and turning back to Jax with a big grin. "Looks fun, right?"

The little one toddled after her, watching her climb into the swing. Hmm.. He had never been on a swing before. He watched her start to swing back and forth with slight bewonderment, mumbling something quietly to the blankie tied around his neck. His ears immediately snapped upright when she jumped from the swing and he watched with wide eyes as she went through the air. Maybe it wasn't much, but it looked like a lot to someone as small as him.

He canted his head to one side, seemingly deciphering the situation.. And then he looked at her and her reaction to it- it did seem as if she enjoyed herself. He nodded slowly, and then finally smiled brightly at the girl. He had seemed to decide that her display looked fun. He was still a bit uncertain, but he didn't let that show. He headed over to the swings and began trying to hoist himself up on one- which was easier said than done. "I try." It was his turn to do it now.

Yay! This kid was very cooperative! Evari cheered and stood up, guiding Jax to a swing and standing behind it. "I'll push you. Just jump whenever you want!" There was sand all around them! What was the worst that could happen? A scrape, maybe? But that just had to be all!

Once Jax was on the swing she began to push him, only a little for now. He was small...so...she didn't want him to get hurt. If it were anyone else she'd probably be pushing with all her strength! But she couldn't for this boy. If he got hurt he'd start crying.

And we all know how Evari feels about crying.

The little kitten drew in a deep breath as he settled into his swing, but after that he seemed alright. He wasn't the nervous kind of kid, after all. He took in the situation thoughtfully, taking a moment to sweep over the area and the swing with his big eyes. He then reached his tiny paws out and wrapped them tightly around the chains. Here goes nothing.

He smiled a bit as she began to push him, squirming a bit in his seat. As soon as he adjusted to this new sensation, he thought about jumping... But... "Higher! Li'l higher!" He cheered happily, excited for what was to come next. This swing stuff was kinda fun.
PostPosted: Mon Apr 12, 2010 9:15 am

Higher? Wow! If he went any higher he'd be going higher than Evari had ever gone! But if that was what he wanted, so be it! He was Super Jax, after all. Super Jax had to fly high. Evari just hoped he wouldn't be getting hurt.

"Up you goooooo, Super Jax~!" Evari cheered as she pushed as hard as she could to make him go higher, gasping and falling back on her butt to duck away from the swing as it came back at her way too fast and kept going over her head. Oh dear...she...she didn't just overdo it, did she? "C-Careful..."
