Route between Pallet Town and Viridian City. The tall grass on this route is crawling with several common types of Pokemon.

Ryan and Flare walk through the grass looking for pokemon. ((Hey do we have poke balls to start or do I buy them in viridian?))

((Ahh. O.K.))
Suddenly they look over and see a pidgey pecking at the ground. "Yes our first pokemon battle! Flare scratch!" The small fire pokemon rushes over and swipes at the pidgey with its claws.

The pidgey takes the hit and flies up to use gust. "Charmander use growl!" The small pokemon growls at the pidgey lowering its attack.

The pidgey sends a gust of wind at the charmander. "Charmander find some cover." The pokemon tries to get behind a tree but is not quick enough and takes the it. "Charmander Hit it with scratch again!" The charmander jumps and scratches the small bird pokemon causing it to fall to the groud. Ryan throws a pokeball at the pokemon. The ball rocks back and forth before staying still. "Yes!! We caught a pidgey! good job buddy!" Ryan says to his flare as the small pokemon jumps and high-fives his trainer. "Char Char!"

Ryan throws the pokeball and lets the pidgey out. "Hi! I'm gonna name you Aero! This is flare." Ryan said as he points to charmander. "Welcome to the team!" The trio continues on the trail looking for more pokemon. "Aero keep your eyes peeled for a rattata!" Ryan says to the small bird.

As the trainer continues he gets close to viridian city. Suddenly he hears a loud coo from a pidgey and he sees Aero flying in circles over one spot. "Flare follow me I think Aero found something!" Ryan says as he runs over to the spot with charmander right behind him. When he gets to the spot he sees a rattata sleeping in the grass.

"Aero Return." Ryan returns the small pokemon. "Good job buddy." He says as he puts it back on his belt. "Flare your up! Scratch!" He says to charmander. The pokemon runs up to awakening mouse and scratches it with its claws. Having just waking up it takes the blow full force.

The rattata recovers from the hit and runs to charmander to tackle it. "Flare try to dodge it!" The fire pokemon tries to jump away but the rattata changes course and hits the pokemon anyways. The fire pokemon jumps forward and hit the pokemon again with scratch. The rattata stumbles but stays standing. "Now's my chance!" Ryan says as he throws the pokeball. The pokeball rocks once and dings and stops. "Yeah!! We got another one." Ryan runs over and grab the pokeball. As he bends down to get it he looks up and sees 5 more rattatas running towards him. "Uh Oh! Flare get ready! We got more coming!"

"I know I just got you but we are gonna need your help. Come on out!" Ryan throws up the two pokeballs on his belt and out comes aero and rattata. "Flare use scratch, Aero gust, Rattata tackle!" The three pokemon run toward the rattata and use their attacks. The rattatas use their tackle attacks and score a direct hit on Flare but the other two dodge. Flare takes out one of the rattats. "Flare return! You've had enough buddy take a rest. Aero use gust on the rest of them and try to knock them back. Rattata watch the one behind you!" Aero struggles and manages to knock a few of the rattatas back. Rattata dodges the one behind him and tackles it and it faints. "Rattata return, Aero return!" Ryan returns the pokemon and makes his way to Viridian City. "Good job Guys," he says to the pokemon in their pokeballs on his belt.

Ryan walks to the Poke Center and hands his pokeballs to the nurse. "Can you please heal my pokemon." The nurse takes the pokeballs and heals them. After taking back his pokeballs he left the poke center and went to the gym. "Hmm.. Looks like the place is closed." He said looking back at his charmander. "Well lets look around bud." Ryan said as he noticed a path off to the west side of the city and starts off in that direction.

Keith walked cautiously through the grass at the opening of Route 1, he looked back nervously at Charles, while keeping an eye out for wild pokémon. He had never even seen a pokémon battle before, as he had always been with his father who prefered to study a natural environment than interfere with them.

As he neared the end of the first patch of grass, Kieth heard a rustling nearby. Placing his hand at the pokéball by his waist, he awaited what seemed to be his very first battle.
He was right, soon afterwards a wild pidgey flew out of the grass and flew straight at him.
"Brunia, go!" he shouted as he released his pokéball.
Brunia the Bulbasaur appeared by his side.
"Brunia, use tackle!"
Brunia dived without hesitation at the pidgey.
