Ronnie was concerned.
The last few weeks had been stressful (to say the least) but she had done her best to keep on smiling and staying positive. However, in the past two weeks, an individual had entered Cora's life that had Ronnie concerned, which meant the seventeen year old was going to take care of this concern the moment she was able to.
As luck would have it, that opportunity arrived one morning as she watched this certain individual make her way into the women's restroom, abandoning her posse of guy friends.
Not wasting a moment to hesitate, Ronnie nudged at the shorter girl beside her. "I'll catch up to you in a few, Cora, I need to take care of something real quick. I'll be right back!"
Though confused, her friend took off for their next class (Ronnie knew how much Cora loved Mr. Kruger's history class, and there was no way Cora would chance being late for it), and the older girl was left staring at the bathroom door.
There was a reason why Charys had nicknamed the duo Veronicora. Save for the one or two classes they had by themselves, the two girls were inseparable. To and from class, at the lunchroom, even on trips to the bathroom, they were two peas in a pod, salt and pepper, Batman and Robin, Holmes and Watson. Where one went, the other dutifully followed.
But this was an issue Ronnie needed to address alone. An issue she did not want Cora present for (or knowing about, for that matter). And that issue was named Madison Heller.
For some reason or another, Cora had come into contact with Madz. That in itself seemed impossible, as the personalities on both girls were about as far apart as the North Pole was from the South. Madz was crass, she was crude and she was chaos. Cora was the exact opposite, making it for one confusing puzzle to Ronnie. Because, despite the vast differences between the two of them and the fact Madz was not the type to be hanging out with either girl, Madz had been chosen to become Gaia. Which meant Ronnie, as Aphrodite, was going to be seeing a lot more of this girl, whether she wanted to or not. Worse, if Madz had become a new friend to Cora... well, Cora's list of current friends was already limited and called into suspicion, as it stood. For considering two out of the three were worthless scumbuckets of epic proportions and Corinna Grant was a bleeding heart of equally epic proportions, Ronnie had her doubts that this girl would fall under the 'Veronica' category. More than likely, she was another Dylan or Jesse, and two of those sorts of friends was quite enough.
So, as it was, Ronnie decided to take it upon herself to investigate this new friend.
Pushing open the bathroom door, the strawberry-blonde immediately bent down to ensure that only one set of legs were visible under the stalls. And, thankfully, only Maddy's socks and sneakers came into view, which was just what Veronica was counting on. Not many girls used this bathroom, for the second toilet was consistently clogged and no matter how hard or often the janitor cleaned it, the bathroom always smelled of wet gym socks.
"So. Maddy. I hear you and Cora had a run-in, the other day."
It was pointless to even pretend she was in there for any other reason (again, helloooo gym sock smell) so she decided then and there to cut through the bullshit and get this little conversation over with.

Madison Heller was only looking for one thing that afternoon: relief.
Her day had started off marvelously; she had downed four slurpees, winning 2 out of 3 chugging contests (the fourth was her prize). Her on again off again relationship with Paul was yet again off again, as he was mooning over some sophomore. This was a plus in Maddy's world-- her and Paul should have never started this mess but she was, as horrible as it was, the easy solution. And, even worse, Maddy sort of took what she could get.
It had been awfully succinct of Cora to have noticed that. Maddy didn't like that Cora had noticed that, it grated on her nerves that she wasn't this elusive, mysterious woman. No one would ever consider her elusive or mysterious, but it would have been nice to not have been found out within four seconds of meeting the girl.
The day had gone steadily worse from there. From going to Mr. Gordon's class, and having the worst brain freeze, which caused him to accuse her of being drunk and making her take a coordination test-- which she failed. Then having to explain herself to the Principal, and getting detention for disrupting class; and then MORE detention for trying to argue that she was only wincing and grumbling, and it was Mr. Gordon who had disrupted things, making her stand on one leg and touch her nose.
Now, it was lunch time. Paul was making out with his new girlfriend, wasting no time; she was getting ragged on BECAUSE of this fact because apparently, it was open season on Madison Heller that morning.
And now she had to pee terribly.
Maddy hated the school washrooms. She had tactical battle plans for times when she could not keep it in her pants until she returned home.
She only went during class time. She would turn on the tap to make sure no one would hear her, god forbid. She would sit on the toilet until the other person left, washing her hands like a crazy person and fleeing out the door.
But it was lunch time, so tactics had to change. The gym washroom was barely ever used, and would have the least chance of having lip glossed girls touching up their makeup and adjusting their breasts. It just reminded her of her childhood, it reminded her of who she wasn't. And she could feel them watching her, judging her, finding her wanting; they couldn't really give one crap about Madison Heller, to be perfectly honest, but Madison Heller tended to build up people in her mind.
Thankfully, it was empty. Mission accomplished, Madison flushed the toilet and then started as a female voice spoke up. She must have entered while she was flushing.
She hoped she had entered when she was flushing.
"What?" Madison replied, opening the rust orange door, to peer at the girl who was Cora's shadow. Madison tried to head to the sink, but Ronnie stepped in front of her.
"I drove her home, what are you, her jailer?"
Maddy jerked to the side, desperately vying for the sink.

Ronnie didn't make a habit of creating enemies. Therefore, aside from the occasional tiff with Jesse, she was highly inexperienced when it came to confrontations. Especially with confrontations that involved girls who had reputations of hanging out with a rowdy bunch of guys. Ronnie had no posse of guys to back her up. She had her words, she had her two fists, but that was about it. So when Maddy shoved her way past, Veronica gave little resistance. At least she was insistent on washing her hands - small points for being hygienic, even if she had chosen the most disgusting bathroom to take a piss in.
"From what I hear of your driving, you're probably lucky I'm not. When my best friend barely brushes past vehicular manslaughter, I get concerned." Four steps to the side placed Ronnie in between Maddy and the exit. And she had no intentions of letting the other girl get by her again, not until she got a few things cleared up. "So you concern me, Heller."
Hands folded themselves across her chest. Thankfully, she'd abandoned her English book in her locker prior to noticing Madz enter the bathroom, so if things ended up getting physical, her hands were free and ready. "But that wasn't the only time you've met Cora, from what I've heard."
Green eyes narrowed as she watched the other girl wash her hands. Had Corinna not told Maddy about Aphrodite? Or who Aphrodite's soul had been given to? What did Madison Heller know, when it came to the Parallel Court and Queen Nehelenia? If she'd been given Gaia's soul then she'd have Gaia's memories...but what she chose to do with this knowledge was still a mystery to the blonde, who was determined to find out the answer.
Leaning against the wall, she put on her best Tough Chick expression. "Cora's a good person. One of the best people in Meadowview, in fact. She doesn't need friends who are bad influences. I keep her from befriending bad influences. And I'm trying to figure out exactly what kind of influence you are."

This was a baffling situation. Madison was completely and utterly baffled by the petite blonde that stood in front of her. She had been cornered before by jealous girlfriends, all up in her tits screaming at her for sleeping with their boyfriends. It would have been better for both of them had this not been true, that it was all an enormous misunderstanding; but Maddy had done things in the past that she wasn't proud of.
But this was new. Maddy had no idea what Ronnie was even going on about, other than her driving skills. Cora had remarked on them as well, so at least she knew that Cora couldn't keep her opinions on others to herself. It was decidedly unfair for Ronnie to be screeching at her about being a bad influence when she had just picked up a fellow classmate in need. Apparently, the story had been retold in a very different manner than what Maddy remembered.
"What are you even talking about, Veronica? Yeah, I picked her up when it was late and she needed a ride. Where were you, if you are so concerned with who she chooses to get in a car with. She arrived home, alive, I even waited to make sure she got inside safely because hey, I actually cared that she was out at a ridiculous time and needed some help,"
Maddy stared at Ronnie. What did she know about the second time?
"The second time is none of your business. I ran in to her, enough said. Jeez, you are like some ******** crazy chihuahua b***h, aren't you?"

She felt her cheeks flush and there was no way to control her face from going up in flames.
"I would have been there, had she called," she sputtered back, caught off guard by the counter attack, "She went to see her boyfriend at Hillworth. Contrary to popular belief, I don't always go where she goes, especially when Dylan Rasmussen is involved."
Ronnie hadn't expected to hear Maddy mention that she cared for the other girl. Maddy hadn't seemed the type to give two shits about anyone besides herself, but it appeared that wasn't the case. Perhaps this was one of the reasons Cora had chosen her? Was Ronnie being too quick to judge? Was she letting her concern and possessiveness over Corinna getting the better of her yet again? It was becoming clear that this girl wasn't trying to beat her out of winning the Best Friend of the Year award, at least.
When told the second visit was none of her business, the shocked look melted away into yet another one of her serious expressions. So it was now painfully obvious - Selene hadn't told Maddy about Ronnie being Aphrodite. Well, that was an issue that could be taken care of in no time.
"Oh I don't know, Gaia," she smirked, moving away from the side of the bathroom wall as she took a step forward. "Maybe you had yourself reborn into the body of some filthy mouthed teenager? Speaking of - a chihuahua, really? I'd have thought I'd be more of a Golden Retriever type. Or a Lab. Cocker Spaniel, at the very least, but a chihuahua? Not exactly the type of dog I'd imagine the Captain of the Senshi to be."

"Frankly, it was a rather satisfying and succinct summary of your character, Aphrodite. You've always been Selene's lapdog-- why change now?"
Half of Madison was going WTFBBQHELICOPTER, so Gaia had taken over; clearly, though the two spoke differently, they weren't as far apart as Selene had first thought when Madison Heller was revealed as the former Sailor Izar. Gaia may be slightly more diplomatic, had far better posture, and had started cattily suggesting that they play connect the dots on their face, prompting Madison to start cleaning it every night to just shut Gaia up.
Gaia was a harping, annoying voice that spoke up when she thought Madison was dealing with situations brashly. Madison had forgotten what it was like to have a conscience, or at least one that would b***h at her without fail for any number of reasons.
"Well met, Captain. Apparently, Cora's choice was far more obviously favourable in your case; Madison was chosen out of desperation, but don't you dare speak down to me for that reason. I can count on the fact that we have more battle experience than you do here, so you can just mull that over for awhile,"
Gaia laid her hands on Ronnie's shoulders, gently, softly, as if they had once been friends. Then, shoving her aside forcefully, Madison made for the door. Unfortunately, they had never really been friends.
"This is neither the time nor the place to speak of this, Aphrodite. Yeah, what the ******** Ronnie? Meet me after school or something-- i'll be at my van."
