Whispy waited patiently on the edge of the forest, having decided to take one of the younger members out on a hunting trip to bond with and teach her a few things. The time didn't concern her, much; it was a beautiful day... There wasn't much that seemed it could destroy the peace and beauty of the day, and even a novice to the hunt couldn't chase off every kill before it could be made. Even if she did, it was more of a bonding and teaching hunt, so it wouldn't matter. So she waited for Shahelda to make her appearance, so the pair could get started.

Shahelda carefully made her way to the spot she was meeting Wispy Cloud, she couldn't brlirve she was actually going to go hunting! The youngest of the clan leader's daughter wasn't sure how it was going to work out, and it wasn't just beacuse she was nowhere near as good as her sister, Littlecloud, or even because she had no idea how to hunt either. She was nervous about overworking herself, she hoped Wispy Cloud wouldn't make her work to hard to catch something.
Because of her condition the black female had hardly ever been out of the den, and barely new the territory her own clan lived in. She was finally allowed to do normal clan things because her condition was a lot better, and she was glad, but everyone's constant warnigs to be careful, and not overwrk herself spooked female.
Arriving at the meeting spot, she almost instantly spotted her clanmate, "I'm here," she informed the older Saigh, making sure that she was noticed, "I'm sorry if I'm late... I haven't been here before..."

Whispy just smiled and Shah. "It's alright, little one. How are you feeling today?" She asked softly, seeming serene as a pond on a calm sunny day, her voice like a ripple accross the surface. "No coughing fits today, I hope? Do you feel well enough to take the lessons?"
Her soft, lavender form was settled as though it belonged to the land, the dark stripes blending with shadows from the trees overhead to create a sort of camouflage effect accross her fur as she sat so calmly. "If you're sure, then we can get started with the first part of the lesson." She smiled softly, but didn't raise tail, rump, or paw from the ground

"I'm feeling fine, I think we can do the lessons," Shah replied a little nervously, she was a clan huntress, who didn't know how to hunt! She was kind of tired of her need of others to depend on for food, and basically everything else she needed. "So, umm... What is the first part of the lesson?" Shah asked moving closer to Wispy Cloud.

Wispy smiled softly, patting the cleared ground in front of her, where leaves hadn't fallen and no twigs disturbed the dirt. "It's very easy, but very necessary to learn the trade. Take up a seat, Shah, get comfortable."
When Shah was in position, Wispy smiled and gently pulled her paw accross Shah's eyes, claws tucked away, to pull her eyes shut. "Just listen. Listen quietly, and tell me what you think you hear in the forest around us. The quieter you are, the more you're likely to hear, and the further. And the more, and further you can hear, the more you can track." She smiled softly and closed her own eyes, standing her ears at a resting pose, herself while they swivelled to catch the sounds available, from the birds in the trees to the gentle rustle of a rabbit sifting through greens a few feet away, to even so far as a young stag rubbing against a young tree to chase the yearling velvet off his horns, and the young does in a field just beyond nibbling at the very tips of the sweet grass.

The younger female did as she was told, going to sit in the said spot and closing her eyes, even holding her breath for a little while to hear her surroundings better. "Umm... I hear something, a rabbit or a mouse maybe, shifting grass off that way," she told the older female, waving her paw in the direction, before adding, "and a bit beyond that is a sound similar to a Saigh sharpening their claws on a tree, but it's not a Saigh... nor claws..." She didn't hear the doe eating, though she did hear the other sounds.

Wispy smiled and nodded, opening her eyes, again. "Very good. Particularly for a beginner. The scratching you heard is most likely one of the yearling bucks working the soft cloth off his antlers. With more practice, you'll be able to hear the does a little further out, making the same noises as the animal you pointed at first." She said softly, by way of a compliment. Hunters as aged as she must have had something of a skewed view of compliments. "Open your eyes and look towards your 'rabbit or mouse'. He's blending with the shadows, so look hard." She said gently. "Don't move too fast, or you'll spook him off."

"Yes ma'am," Shah replied obediently, opening her eyes and looking in the direction of the rabbit, standing, and moving slowly toward it, for a better look, it wasn't hard her to spot it, being use to looking into shadows from all the time she spent in the den, as a cub, while the rest of her family was out and about, hunting, training or playing. Suddenly, the rabbit darted off as she stepped on a small twig, which made a cracking noise beneath her paw. She winced at the noise before looking apologetically at Whispy Cloud.

(I love you, btw. XD You put the apostrophe in the right place! *snugs*)
Wispy chuckled, shaking her head softly. "Remember the first lesson, Shah, to listen. I only told you to look, not to pursue just yet." She chuckled softly, stepping closer to Shah softly. "Honestly, you probbaly would've don that next anyways. There's a way to walk through small sticks that won't give you away, and it's rare that a new hunter will get it on her own... Or, often, on her first try. She smiled serenely as she curled up in her spot, gently pushing aside tender twigs and sticks with her withdrawn claws and sweeping tail as she did. As she finally settled into her sitting, though, there was a soft cracking sound from beneath her, and something else skittered away. She chuckled and shook her head. "And even the more careful and experienced can miss one now and again." She chuckled.

"I was trying to pursue, I just wanted a better look Ma'am," The younger Saigh replied, before apologizing. "I'm sorry that I accidentally disobeyed your orders though..." She watched as her teacher cleared away branches before sitting down, she had to stifle a laugh at the crack and hoped that it went unnoticed. Shahelda looked around for a basically clear spot to sit in, she found one nearby and moved over to it moving the few sticks she could find out of the way before settling down facing her teacher.

Wispy grinned and nodded. "There you go. That was excellent." She purred. "We, as large cats, have prided ourselves on our silent movement since we first figured out the tactic, and it is one we teach to our young with great pleasure." She smiled softly. "When you try to sneak, or be stealthy, drag your toes with your paws, and swipe away twigs and leaves, like this." She gave a brief demonstration. "Of course it will be more difficult in the fall, when the trees hibernate and leave their dried blankets accross the ground, but for now, it's not too bad." She smiled softly and waved at the ground between the two of them. "Why don't you try... And when you think you've got it, we can see about finding some field mice for some real time practice."
