This is a private role play between Shin-Mu [Beejoux] and Bataar [Kayakurai].

Setting:
Cherry tree hill, under the lovely blossoms. Shin-Mu is have a conversation with the ghost that haunts her flute when along comes Bataar.
PostPosted: Fri Mar 12, 2010 4:13 pm

Two figures were conversing under the shade of the cherry tree. One was very much corporeal, the other, not quite so much. In fact, to someone not on the path to priest hood, it would look very much like the young lady was talking to herself. "I told you already, Liu. I practiced both instruments earlier." Her tone was bored, and just a little irritated. She adored Liu, really she did, but there were times when he could be positively controlling with the dark lunarian's life. Se appreciated the guidance as a whole, but too much of a good thing was just tiresome.

"I just want to make sure your skills don't grow sloppy from misuse." Defensive, the ghost crossed his arms over his chest, staring down at his pupal and mistress with disdain.

"They will not." Pale, lily green eyes turned up to peg the spirit with an unfriendly look. At least where she assumed he was currently standing. "If you plan to do nothing but pester me about my accomplishments for the day, you can save your breath."

She really didn't need him reminding or pestering her about her music or studies. She was already ambitious enough without his help. A little more time spent out of doors would no doubt do her good. She was something of an anti-social shut in, and if she was ever going to survive the academy, she was going to need to stop being so uncomfortable around others.

Bataar stared at his assignment, trying to make out the hieroglyphics on it as he trekked up the incline of Cherry Tree Hill. He was a terrible student, but he had his reasons. His main issue was that he was completely illiterate. The Mongol frowned when he reached the top of the hill, trying to figure out another good way to procrastinate. He was almost always doing something, and he'd do anything to avoid from scribbling his homework on this scroll.

The teachers had clearly been getting tired of his excuses that people drew in scribbles and pictures where he was from. It was believable, certainly, with the way he smelled and acted, but it was impossible to grade. They'd tried to demand that he learn to read and write properly, but Bat was utterly clueless. It made no sense to him to pick up any sort of writing system. His culture was one where oral tradition mattered above all.

"This sucks!" Bataar shouted from the top of the hill, failing to notice the girl beneath the cherry tree. It wasn't surprising; he'd never been considered the most observant of Lunarians, after all.

it wasn't so much that Shin-mu wasn't observant, but more that she hardly expected to be crept up on by anyone. She could feel ghosts as they approached, and she seldom found herself in the company of anyone with a pulse. So it was safe to say that she'd been startled out of her wits a handful of times since the start of her term at the academy.

Now was no exception, though if she'd been looking at Liu, she might have avoid her heart jumping into her throat and the girly little yip she let out when the maroon Lunarian hollered beside her. The ghost had been watching the young man approach, Shin-mu had not. She'd been watching the clouds going by, doing her best to ignore the nagging spirit standing at her side.

A dark hand clasped to her chest, she stared up at Bat for a heartbeat before turning on the dead musician, hissing at him in a low tone. "You could have warned me." The glare she directed up in his general direction was near murderous.

"I did, young miss. You just weren't listening to me" There was only the barest hint of satisfaction in his voice, and he was controlling his expression admirably. To this extreme lack of reproach or disappointment, Shin could only wilt in shame.

"Oh. Well..." She had nothing to respond with, and she pointedly turned away from the ghost, cheeks darker from the blush that had crept over them.

Bataar only looked over to the cherry tree when a rather odd noise sounded from it. He faintly recognized the other student from the academy, although he didn't believe he knew her personally. Still, something about her seemed... odd. Very odd.

It took the boy a few moments to place it, but he soon realized that she was talking to herself. "You there! What the hell are you doing?" He asked, stomping over to Shin-Mu in order to interrogate her. He had found his next mode of procrastination from his homework. Perfect! He watched the girl carefully, looking unconcerned about possibly disturbing her. That was something Bataar had never been concerned about, after all; offending people was like breathing to the Mongol.

Suddenly, though, without any warning, a semi-intelligent thought crept into Bat's mind. What if... he could make this girl do his homework? Now that would be perfect. He eyed her carefully, noting that she looked rather smart and thinking that, like most everyone else, she probably knew how to read and write. Besides, she didn't look like she could put up much of a fight so he wouldn't have to deal with the moral implications of violence!

"Actually, it doesn't matter what you're doing. Do my homework!" And with that, he shoved the assignment scroll right into the poor girl's face.

She could only keep up ignoring the living so long as they allowed her to pretend they didn't exist, and this young man was not allowing that to happen. His voice raised, he stomped over to her, demanding what she was up to. An unruly, feral sort of look to him. Oh and the smell.. Shin-mu was fairly certain that covering her nose with her sleeve would be considered rude, but she was finding it very difficult not to do just that.

"I was talking to Liu." She gave him a flat look, realizing that he must not be able to see the spirit. "He's a ghost." She may have further explained, she did have a habit of over sharing, not really familiar with the proper does and don'ts of social interaction, but she didn't get the chance.

Shin grabbed the scroll by instinctive reaction, wide eyes flicking from him to it then back again. " beg your pardon? You want me to do what for you?" She shifted her grip on the thing, holding it gingerly between two fingers. Quite certain that it was contaminated with the young man's filth by proximity alone. "And why should I? You haven't exactly inspired me to do you any favors. Hollering and stomping about, demanding things of strangers, and don't even get me started on the sensual attack you're presence bombards people with upon proximity." Having the homework stufed in her face had convinced there was no point in being polite. He looked filthy, he smelled worse, and if he touched her she'd snap.

"Your manners, miss." Liu tried to caution her, but she waved her free hand through his incorporeal body, causing him to huff and disappear. Irritated at her treatment of him.

Bataar looked unimpressed at the girl's answer and only quirked an eyebrow. "You're messed up in the head." he declared, his green eyes narrowed. He'd been hoping this girl would prove herself intelligent so he could bully her to do his homework accurately. Apparently his hopes and dreams had gone down the drain, however, because this particular girl seemed to be an oddball.

Oh, Tengri. He had come upon a stupid one, hadn't he? "I. WANT. YOU. TO. DO. MY. HOME. WORK." Bataar stated it very loudly and clearly, evidently considering Shin-mu some kind of spectacular retard.

"You should because..." Bat paused to consider the situation for a few moments, knowing that if all else failed he could shout that he really didn't need to give the girl a reason to do his homework. "...because I'll punch you in the face!" Bataar held up his fist threateningly, a confident grin now taking over his facial expression. If there was one thing he didn't mind doing, it was punching people in the face.

Considering the threats of bodily harm and insistence that she do his bidding, Shin-mu was watching the mongol with relative calm, perhaps even slight interest. After wall, it wasn't everyday she came across a barbaric brute of a lunarian. She probably should have been scared of him, nervous at the very least, but she didn't take much stock in his threats. She was smarter then him, and talking her way out of the problem wouldn't be too challenging.

"Oh I may very well be, as you say, messed up in the head. " She couldn't help the small smile that twitched at the corner of her lips. The maroon young man was quite the simpleton, in Shin's opinion, and he was amusing to her. Though she was certain he wouldn't like being referred to as such.

"If you punch me in the face then I'll be completely unable to read the scroll, let alone write out answers, and that would completely defeat the purpose of threatening me in the first place, don't you think?" Interacting with people really wasn't Shin's strong suit, and generally being around others tended to make her nervous, but for whatever reason the mongol only managed to amuse her, and her tone while speaking to him had been calm, helpful even.

"Why do you want me to do your homework for you anyways?" She took him the muscled state of his shoulder and arms, and she had to figure he was no strange to work. "It doesn't look like a case of laziness."

Bataar watched Shin-mu's calm with an expression of open irritation, not too happy that his threats weren't being met with a flinch or a grimace. It was just... inappropriate, he supposed, when someone like this didn't allow him to use his talent in the fullest. He couldn't do much else, after all; he was all brawns, with brains being nothing more than an afterthought. People like this who had hardly any reaction to his muscular build and the fact that he had no qualms about punching them-- they were Bat's least favorite type of person!

"Yeah, well you are, because I said so." The Mongol didn't feel the need to add a boatload of support. This was obviously a crazy.

Upon hearing Shin-mu's next statement, the brawny youth flushed, looking bothered upon hearing the logic that he hadn't taken the time to process himself. "So? I can just punch you somewhere else." He flexed, trying his hardest to show off his impressive physique and the potential damage he could deal out with it. Against him, this insane girl would surely be powerless-- so why wasn't she just agreeing to do what he'd asked so nicely?

Bataar narrowed his eyes, frustratedly shaking his head at Shin-mu. "Don't question me. Just do as you're told! Maybe I'll tell you my big secret... after you finish my homework." Of course, he wasn't planning on having a perfect stranger aware that he was illiterate, but Shin-mu didn't know this.

She choose to ignore any further comments pertaining to her mental state. She was fairly certain that she was not, as he had said, messed up in the head, but considering that he didn't seem to have a full sack of marbles, it didn't seem worth discussing. She'd humored him once already, but it would grow old very quickly. Besides, there were much more amusing things to discuss. It was clear to Shin-mu that the mongol's strong suit was not logic.

"Well you could, but then you might break something important, and I would, again, not be able to do your work for you."

She looked up at him, brows raised curiously. She probably should have been more wary of him, but despite his obvious physical superiority, she was having a hard time seeing him as a threat. "Well hand it over at least, let me look at it."

She held one dark hand up to him, though kept an eye on him to make sure his hands(They had to be filthy..) didn't brush her's. "Here's how this usually works. You ask me to do something for you, and I ask for something in return. It's called fair trade, and tends to work better then threats of bodily harm."

Bataar absolutely knew he was right about this girl. She simply didn't want to admit that she was crazy, although he alone knew that it hardly mattered if she were sane or not. There were plenty of messed-up people out there, right? Certainly, he wasn't very logical, but his inferences had seemed clever enough. "Oh, I don't punch stupid girls like you that hard." Bat declared, sounding absolutely cocky, as if Shin-mu was hardly worth his time in the first place. All he needed was for her to do his damned homework.

He shoved it at her when she told him to, frowning at what looked like hieroglyphs to him, written on the paper. He couldn't understand his homework-- at all. It was only now that he realized bullying might be an effective way to actually finish it up. He sure hoped it would work out with Shin-mu.

"Yeah? Well I told you I'd tell you a secret about me. So hurry up and do it, okay? It's due tomorrow morning!" That had to be more than enough in return for this girl's homework services.

Frowning, she snatched the homework scroll out of his hand and held it gingerly away from her body. It would undergo a thorough examination before she was comfortable working with it. Thankfully though, it didn't appear as though the maroon youth had done anything more then hold the thing. There were a few smudges along the outside, but the inside seemed clean enough, so she spread it open over her thighs and read over it.

"Your threat is really very poorly thought out. If I refuse to aid you, then you either hurt me badly enough to impend my ability to do as you ask, or you do not hurt me nearly enough to actually force me to do anything." It wasn't his threat that had her looking over his homework, that was for sure.

Finally turning her gaze to the actual writing on the scroll, scanning it quickly before looking back up at him like he was even stupider then she originally thought.

"I can't just do it for you, it's about combat and things you learn while following the path of a warrior. I don't follow that path."

Folding her arms over it, she leaned forward to regard him a little more carefully, pretty sure she knew what the secret he'd mentioned was. "Do you want me to read you the questions and write down your responses?" She could have been cruel and called him out on his supposed illiteracy, but she'd try for kindness first, see where it got her.

If she'd been worth beating up, he would have done it. As it was, the Mongol firmly believed that Shin-mu wasn't worth his precious time. "Big freakin' deal." he declared, unconcerned about the girl's reasoning. His growing disinterest was almost palpable as he observed the other Lunarian, beginning to rethink his priorities. It didn't even take a particularly smart person to realize that he probably wasn't going to get his way. Beyond being illiterate, he didn't want to do the homework in the first place; what was the point? He was perfectly good at beating people up, and he had muscles. That should have meant instant passage into the class of warriors.

She can't even do it! Bataar observed Shin-mu, his green eyes narrowing as he snatched the scroll from the girl. "Don't bother, if you're not gonna do my homework." he huffed, crushing the scroll in his large hand. He hadn't thought it was possible to meet someone with less intellectual capacity than he!

The Mongol turned his back to the girl, fuming. "And I don't want to see you again, or else I'll make sure you won't even be able to do your own homework!"

His simple request had been denied, and now she was lucky that all he was doing was walking away.
