Hey this might have been done already but does anyone practice a sword martial arts style like kendo or Battou Juttsue, etc?
PostPosted: Wed Feb 02, 2005 4:36 am

I practice kendo and iaido.

Battojutsu is a synonym for iai-jutsu.
But mostly use by silly Kenshin fans. XD
Avoid it.

Iaijutsu and kenjutsu formally. I'm dabbling in Korean, Chinese and European sword arts on the side.

I'm sure my style of kung fu has sword techniques in it, but I don't know any since we are not allowed weapons in my college.

Cool! xd have you seen those double Zatoichi swords? sword in each end? not sure how authentic they are tho...

Zatoichi sword...
Bullshit.
It's just another fantasy pulled out of someone's a**.
Sorry to say it like this, but this kind of stuff pisses me off.
Don't be an idiot and walk on the street with your sword.
That's idiotic.
You'll just be another moron looking to see who's got the biggest knife.
These kind of swords may have been useful in the past, now they are just toys for imbeciles who can't bring themselves outside the fantasy world where they are the hero.

Swords are not toys to take on the street with you.
They are killing instruments.
If you cannot bring the respect for such an instrument that comes with the power to wield it, stay clear of it. It will only get you into trouble.

Besides, I do believe cops and the likes are trained to identify sword canes and other concealed weapons.
Wich shouldn't be too hard to do, seeing as how a good sword has an oval grip.

Fancy blades are collector's items. Like G.I.Joe's.
I don't see you playing with your dolls on the street. So keep your sword at home too.

And if you really want some protection, there are much better options.
Such as pepper spray (not just for girls), stun guns, batons or the more lethal .45 magnum and it's kin.

Don't be an idiot and take yourself for the incarnation of Musashi......
Or any other swordwielding celebrity, for that matter.

EDIT:
And Darkling, the authenticity of such a sword is of the highest doubtability.
If of any origin, it would be Chinese, maybe Korean.
Zatoichi being Japanese, I highly doubt it would be authentic.
More importantly, imagine drawing both swords at the same time.
Yes, that would seem near impossible and therefor very unpractical.

Not something any warrior with a sense for his weaponry would carry around.

What do you mean... No tricks... I'm a ninja, or rather, kunoichi. Besides... I didn't mean dirty tricks, more like small pointers that are important... But, even if I came into a situation that I had to fight someone with a sword, to stay alive, I'd do anything, even if that would mean using dirty tricks. wink

XD
You don't get my point.
I'm saying that in ninjutsu they don't call it dirty tricks.
They call it a physical means to achieve victory. ^-^

Yep highly bullshit. But they look damn good hanging on the wall. Any sword that doesn't cost stupid money is going to be expensive wallpaper, doesn't mean they dont look good tho. And I'm not saying you should take them out with you, thats akin to wondering around town in your dobok/gi/club tracksuit thinkin your the daddy...
