Not completely, because I didn't down half a fifth of whiskey, but I got pretty damn Irish by having corned beef with cabbage and potatoes for lunch. Man, it was tasty! Even my friend, who is ill and seldom eats much even when she's in good health, ate a lot of it.
I had that corned beef cooking for about eighteen hours, and steamed the potatoes and cabbage instead of boiled them. Really shouldn't boil anything if you have the means to steam it instead, unless you like losing flavor and nutritional value. I even saved the broth for a soup of some sort later on.

eek So, after my friend I gorged ourselves I just stuffed everything in the fridge; classic bachelor's prevarication, right? Well, last night I opened it up and dragged everything out to clean, and of course to deal with whatever leftovers there was — and I saw that my friend and I had eaten over two ******** pounds of corned beef yesterday!
Jesus, Mary, and Joseph! lol I wanted to make Reuben sandwiches, too!
