Came great confusion the 10 minutes I had to decide whether to put this in Non-System or not. I've decided not, because while it's not really about S.O.A.D. it's vaguely related.
Who has heard SerArt? Tell me what you think of it! DX
I've been listening to Serj's remix of the CD off the site...
Click.
I think it's really nice... Serj and Arto make a great team! =B Although calling it "SerArt" I thought was a tad self-absorbed of Serj..
rolleyes
Also. Who has read Cool Gardens?
Tell me what you think of it also! DX
Serj is a wonderful poet.

You did well, because the Non-System sub-forum is more, like, for you guys.
In fact, it's SerArt for Serj and Arto, and Ser means love, I believe. I remember Serj saying it's like the art of loving or the love of art.
I'm ashamed to say I have SerArt as a burned CD, because I could not find it anywhere, of course. I could always order it, but I don't have a card, and my mother probably wouldn't let me use hers.
You have to be pretty open-minded, because it's very different music. So there, I like the CD. I can't say I love it to bits, but it's still very beautiful, and I'm attached to a few songs more than others, like "Gee Tar", "Leave Melody Counting Fear" and "Facing the Plastic".

Ahh, that made me smile. Yeah, I knew either 'Ser' or 'Art' meant something in Armenian.
I think it's all very beautiful, and anything he does is just marvelous and lovely. I wouldn't mind if Daron did anything away from System...
I can't see him doing that very clearly...
But it'd be nice moosique.

This topic is right up my alley.....time for a block of text.
First, I have SerArt, and its one of the best damn CDs I've ever heard. I especially liked Cinema, Black Melon (when I found out the woman's voice was most likely Serj's or Arto's I liked it a lot more for some reason), Gee-tar, and Narina.
Second, I have read Cool Gardens, the artwork was nice and the poems were interesting. In fact, I recited "City of Blinds" and "Rain" for a school project, none of the people in my class got the poems, lol.
Third, Daron did do something away from System, he was in Bad Acid Trip for some time, but I don't know how long that lasted.
And Cheerful, I recommend finding SerArt somewhere because it comes with a DVD that has a 10-15 minute music video that is about as weird as the music is (I'm sure that you've heard that somewhere, but just in case).

Yeah, I also feel bad for not getting the original. I'll probably try to get it off the net. And the foam finger from System's merch. xd

I just got Cool Gardens from a local bookstore for only 5 bucks. I'm not really into poetry but, it's written by friggen Serj Tankian... I couldn't resist. It pulled me right in, it's surprising as to how much some of the poems relate to their songs... And I noticed that Frik was one of Serj's poems before they made it into a song. It's all very interesting, so far my favourite is Soil.

Yep, I really didn't expect to find it in stores. But I decided to check a Chapters book store while I was there... And found it in the discount poetry section.

Its kinda funny that theres a thread for Serart and Cool Gardens because I just got them both and have been wanting to post about them. Last year I tried to find both of them, I looked in at least five different record stores for serart and about 6 bookstores for cool gardens, after that I caved in and asked my grandparents to order them of the net for me for Christmas. I love the cd, its ******** awesome. I'm really into music that is experimental, I haven't always been, but in the last 4 years, for some reason I love music that is just totally different from everything else. Serart is a a work of genius, Arto's voice is badass. My favorite songs on the album would have to be Love is the Peace, Narina, Facing the plastic, and Cinema. I strongly recommend serart to all of my fellow SOAD fans, Serj and Arto are freakin badass, they should calliburate( I can't spell) on more things. As for Cool Gardens, its ******** awesome. i love the art work, and i love a majority of the poems. My favorites would have be i'm Erica, NYC, Lighter, Art, Data, A Letter to Congress, Indentured Servitude, and I Don't Want to Shower. I'm a writer myself and think that Serj has done a great job with his poetry. He creates powerfull imagery and when reading any of his poems one feels that he put alot of emotion and energy into what he wrote. So, I also recommend getting Cool Gardens to my fellow SOAD fans. I wish i could've got the hardback version that was autogaphed by Serj but those were all sold out.

From SerArt I've only heard "Facing The Plastic"(it's on Serj's MySpace). I read one of the Cool Gardens' poems from Amazon(I think). I would really like to get both of them. Sure, I'm not that good at understanding poems...but I wouldn't mind having something from such a great man like Serj.
