Thanos wandered along a mountain path, swishing his tail in frustration. His mother, Dianthe, had, yet again, made an example of him in front of his siblings - the "normal" ones, she called them, the "civilized" ones. She was always fawning over her Dragon-Bound and his daughter, and praising Thanos' siblings to kingdom come because, unlike Thanos, they were "the perfect dragons" - they never so much as cast an angry glance at the humans, even when the blundering four-year-old stepped on their tails.
Thanos thought again of the father he'd never known, a dragon his mother described as the ultimate villain. "Just as bad as Tarketh, if not WORSE!" she'd said. From what Thanos had been told, there was no greater joy for his father than to torture his human, and all he'd wanted was more and more power. That's why he'd taken Dianthe "against her will", as she put it.
Thanos, however, somehow knew better. Lately, when he was frustrated, he'd found his mind seemed to contain thoughts that felt like they belonged to others - mainly his mother. These thoughts could not be his own, for some of them simply made no sense: memories of romping through the sky with a large, black male dragon, his human clinging on for dear life; a morning in anguish upon waking up to find the human savaged and bleeding to death, as the dragon fanned his new set of leathery wings and took to the sky, never to return; anger and disgust at seeing Thanos for the first time, flapping his tiny wings as he fought his way out of his egg.
Thanos had seen all these things as if he were living them, including seeing his own hatching. His frustration gave way to confusion as his mind drifted back to what he had "seen". If humans were so friendly, why had his father tortured them? But, since they seemed to pay no heed to the wellbeing of dragons, were they really to be considered friendly? Thanos' mind began to ache, and he decided he wanted nothing to do with humans, and that the disparity between the viewpoints of his mother and father was just too much to take. As he wondered, for the umpteenth time, whether he should try to fit in with his human-loving mother and siblings, or try and follow in his father's power-hungry footsteps, Thanos realized he was torn between - so ambivalent that it was unlikely he'd ever find a comfortable place among dragonkind.
This thought troubled him, and he turned his mind away from it. Having done so, he found himself wondering how he knew what he knew - how it was he'd seen things like his father, and his own hatching. This time, though it made his brain itch, Thanos continued to mull over that for a long time; however, none of the explanations he came up with seemed to fit. Frustration returned, and as he continued along the path, he kicked small rocks off the mountain. He was so busy with this that he didn't notice a boulder in his way until it was too late.
Thanos crashed headlong into it, and as he backed off grumbling, he lashed out at it with his claws. The fact that they left a deep scratch was small consolation for the pain in his muzzle. Suddenly, though, strange symbols carved in the rock caught his attention. His first thought was to ignore them and continue around the rock - they'd probably been left there by some bored dragonet. However, he found himself drawn to them - somehow he knew they meant something, and for some reason he longed to know what it was.

There was a brief light from the symbols, so brief it could have been just imagination, or the sun from behind the clouds. But immediately after a shadow passed over Thanos and the symbols, the outline of an adult dragon in flight. It banked, veered, and then circled, losing altitude until finally the dragon landed on top of the boulder, claws digging in for purchase. One hand slipped lower than the other and cut one of the symbols Thanos had been looking at in two. There was a human clinging to the back of the dragon and a necklace around both their necks marking them as stewards of Gen'yiel.
"Are you the dragon Thanos?" the human asked, "We already told your siblings and mother. I don't know how much this will mean to you... but at Gen'yiel... your sire lays dying. He has maybe a few days left."

Thanos froze, his face a mask of horror and disbelief. "M-my father?" he stuttered, his voice cracking with grief. "He's - dying?" A barrage of agonized questions rose in his mind, and he was unable to sort them into any kind of order. The words began to tumble from his mouth. "How - what happened? And no one can save him? Did - did someone murder him? Did they find out who? Whoever did it - did they have to pay?! They HAVE to! No one can get away with murder - my father! I want to help him...if I can't..." Thanos trailed off momentarily, realizing his next question was selfish, but then blurted it anyway. "If I can't, I at least want to meet him, to talk to him...can you take me to him?"

"Calm down!" the dragon said, taken aback slightly at Thanos's barrage of questions, "We don't know what happened. He crashed on the side of the mountain, was just flying and then... I don't know. Maybe he hit a current or something... but he fell. We got to him pretty quickly but he is in bad shape. Might have been injured to begin with because he keeps babbling about this white-haired human, but we couldn't find anyone."
The dragon jumped off the boulder and onto the path behind Thanos. He lowered his neck and the human scooted back, arranging herself in the harness to allow room for another.
"Come. Your mother wanted nothing to do with him but has bid her children that they may do as they will. You are the only who has asked. I will take you to Gen'yiel."

(((ooc: I'm taking that exclamation point at the end of "Calm down!" to mean that the dragon uttered that in a commanding, though surprised, voice)))
Startled into silence by the older dragon's command, Thanos took a deep breath to calm himself. "All right," he replied, climbing onto the dragon's back. As he did so, he felt his mind go numb with shock, and his vision changed a bit; he felt almost like he was seeing everything through a long tunnel. Once he was perched securely, he squeezed his eyes shut for a long moment; when he opened them, things looked almost normal again, but not quite.

"Hang on," the human Bound instructed and the dragon took to the air. He flew hard, pushing himself to go as fast as he could, stopping only when necessary. They reached Gen'yiel as the sun was starting to go down and the dragon finally collapsed.
"Go on," he panted to Thanos, "Head inwards. Find another dragon with a necklace like mine - we are the stewards of this place - and ask to see your sire. Quickly. We have no idea how much time is left."
He breathed out, rolling to one side, and closed his eyes. Likely he would fall asleep right there on the open cliff edge where the tunnel leading in to Gen'yiel began.

-Rushia, a very damage looking dragon, has made it back home to Gen'yiel she kept to herself as to really what happen to her as she arrive right when it seems someone has fallen ill or has been harm it wasn't clear as to what but her tried curiosity has gotten the better as her still with the chains bound to her not really knowing why she didn't bothered removing them something about remembering the stranger that broke them with his bare hands.- "I hope this wasn't the work of that human." -she didn't sound thrilled or worried when she stated it just fed up with everything as she ventured to where it seemed they were watching the fellow dragon.-

((ooc note, edited: Oh my gosh! I just saw Kiddo's invitation in the thread - I'm so sorry; when I read the post and got confused I wasn't sure if you'd just popped in, or what? x_x. Doesn't change the fact that I don't quite grasp the post's meaning, though. >_<; ))
Thanos sprang from the steward-dragon's back. His mind spun with questions, some caring and others self-centered, but he took heed of the instructions and hurried into the cave in search of another dragon with the same necklace. As he ran, he wondered for a moment what his father would think of him - "What if he's ashamed of me, like my mother is?" - but didn't let that fear slow his pace.

( well basically she returned home I was just trying to throw her description in for you but I guess I confused you, let me do a more direct approach.)
-Rushia almost ran into the hurried little dragon.- "BE CARE FULL!"
-She then realize he was more focused on something else she lightly picked up speed after Thano's so other dragons would see her coming and wouldn't make the mistake of almost stepping on him like she almost did.-

Thanos didn't notice how close he'd come to being stepped on, as he was so focused on finding a steward of Gen'yiel; hearing the voice of another dragon, and realizing he was being followed, he turned and looked over his shoulder to see if the speaker had the necklace of a steward. As he turned his head, he blurted, "I'm Thanos! I was brought here to find my father, he's dying - can you help?"

It was quite a time to return to Gen'yiel it seemed, as bounds and dragons seemed to be all in a fuss. There was something about one of the dragons being deathly ill. Neither of the pair knew the dying dragon personally, but in any case it was a sad thing to hear about.
"I suppose there's not much that can be done. It's a part of life though.." said Astalder rather somberly. The words were only responded with a nod from his bounded. They didn't travel too far into the tunnels before they both heard the quick patter of several feet, as well some shouts from behind.
"Hm?" blinked Blade as he glanced behind. At first he only saw a larger but ragged looking dragon, but he soon realized there was a younger dragon darting through the tunnel.
Quickly, both dragon and human jumped out of the way to avoid getting bowled over by the running dragons. Apparently the younger one was the son of the dying dragon, at least that was what they had gathered.

"Pardon us.." -she politly said in a somber voice as she pass some one and it looked like a human as well.-
"Thanos, I am Rushia, I am just making sure you don't get stepped on. But you should look ahead before you run into something." -she continued as her voice sounded very steady even though she was running.-

With a curt nod, Thanos turned his gaze forward, but not without a brief glance to see who Rushia had addressed in passing; he noted that neither appeared to be a steward, especially as Rushia had not asked them about his father, and rushed on without wasting time greeting them.

"Poor kid.." muttered Blade as they watched the two rush on down the tunnel. The younger dragon seemed pretty distressed, and for good reason if his father was dying.
"Don't suppose we should look into this do you? The Fallen don't come around there that often.. I don't suppose the father came here to die?" mused Astalder while watching the two who assumed that the father of the hatchling was a Fallen dragon as well.
"I guess it can't hurt. There isn't anything we need to be doing right now is there?" replied the human with a shrug. Like the black dragon, he had his curiosities on the matter. However, the dragons ahead were making good distance and pretty soon it would be hard to find or catch up with them if they didn't start moving soon. But then both dragon and human came up with a different idea at nearly the same time.
"He's looking for the stewards right? I'm sure we can find out more information if we locate one of them as well." pointed out Astalder before he began moving. He felt the silent agreement coming from the thief and without another word the two made their way through the tunnels swiftly.

Fam made her way through the corridors, her Steward necklace bouncing on her chest. She muttered to herself as she walked. Take care of this. Take care of that. When are you going to find your Bound?
"As if I have time to find a human!" Fam snarled under her breath, "As if I need to fly stuck in this rock all the time."
She cut off her rant, snapping her head up. There was someone coming down the tunnel and it wouldn't do well for a Steward to be cursing and muttering in public.
