Startling cerulean blue eyes, uncommon among his people; peer through the hazy mist of smoke, steam and every other fog that filled the area of the bar. Shoulder length obsidian black hair fell into his face as he turned his head to the left, to gaze at the door.
He had spent many a night in this dark, desolate, nearly empty place, drowning himself in the sorrows of the few patrons that frequented the building evening after evening. Some were lost in self loathing, others in self pity. He had not fed in many nights... little by little, he knew his control was slipping... if he fed now... he knew he would lose control and that would be the end of it.
He refused to go that way, refused to make his people hunt him down and finish him because he'd given into the darkness and killed an innocent. No... when he decided to end his time on earth, it would be willing. He would face the dawn unflinchingly and he would fade away from the world and cease to exist.
His time would end soon... maybe this morning... maybe tomorrow, but he knew he couldn't let it wait much longer... the safety of these humans and the safety of his race depended on him having the strength to end it himself.
After centuries alone he'd chosen honour over madness... over evil. The dawn over blood.
His prince had demanded but not ordered that he go to ground this day, while they found a woman elligible to be his lifemate, but the truth was...he couldn't wait anymore. The darkness he had been subjected to almost one thousand years ago was threatening, even now, to turn him. It had engulfed his soul, blinded his eyes, deafened his ears, muted his tongue and numbed his mind...
The world was dull and colorless, silent and suffocating, and he could no longer feel the awareness of the animals and humans around him. He was fading from existence. He was an ancient in every aspect. He was stronger than their prince, not that anyone truly knew that. He was older too, again, no one knew. If he turned, he would become a master vampire in a matter or weeks, if not months... his people couldn't afford that. He'd made his choice. He would have to face the dawn, he would save his people the trouble of putting an end to his existence. He now stood on the peak of one of the many hills enclosed in the carpathian mountains, wating for the first rays of sunlight. They were still hours away, but 1000 years had given him the patience to wait a little longer.
When gazing at the cloudy, starless sky began to lose it's appeal his mourning blue gaze lowered and slowly, his eyes slipped closed.

XXX XXXXXXXXXXXXXĄeяıe Wıℓℓıaмş ☸ ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ The greyhound bus pulled away as a young girl was left standing on the platform of the bus station, the young girl of about 20 was left standing there with her duffle bag slung across her shoulder. She had just gotten off the bus from Nevada and sighed, it had been a long drive to the city. Which she just hoped was far enough from her last location. Aerie Williams stood at about 5'5, with a slim willowy build that as of lately had been slimer than usual. Her wavy dark brown hair flowed down around her face and brushed past her shoulders. She hailed the nearest cab and climbed in the back seat and asked for the nearest motel. Which wasn't far. Only by a few city blocks from the station. "Thanks." Aerie said to the driver and she threw him a few twenties before going to check in to the motel. Using the last of her money she got a room for two nights, but she knew it wouldn't matter unless she could get a quick job to get some cash.
The task of finding a job was not the issue, most places no matter how nice would willingly pay someone under the table for a nights work. The real issue was the easiest place to earn money and a lot of it was at a gentleman's club... aka a strip joint. And every city had tons of them. Setting her things in her room Aerie changed, into a simple pair of jeans, a shirt and a sweater. This time she walked, from the hotel and into every store and restaurant she could find. Thankfully one restaurant offer her to cover a few hours for forty bucks total. Which was better than nothing. So she spent the evening waiting table and cleaning them. And once her hours were over the manger handed her the money and she left. heading outside where night had already fallen, she knew now she had to find a club that would want her to dance for the night. She wrapped her arms around herself from the cool night air and sighed, knowing she would have to buy a coat soon which meant she would need to earn more money. She stopped at a phone booth and picked up the directory able to quickly find the nearest strip club and started the walk to hopefully her next job. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ○ Don't look back till your free to chase the morning ○

A few days had passed since his attempt, however, he had been unsuccessful. The Prince had sent his brother Jacques to find him, and found him he had. He had been given a 'Final Mission' to complete before he met his end.
He had been sent to exterminate a vampire that had been terrorizing a city and so, he sat in wait now in the club the vampire had taken refuge in. He knew the vampire would be rising soon.
His job was to be sure this was the last rising he would have.
He turned from the bar to the open room. It was dark, flashes of grey briefly streaking his vision as lights flickered about the room. The stench would have been stagnating had he actually concentrated on it, but he made it a point not to. He was a predator, lying in wait for his prey.
Nothing could distract him from this job. Not his hunger, not the humans, not the scent and certainly not the vampire. He would do this deed and he would return to his homeland and end his existence.
Closing his eyes he expanded his mind. Soon Azriel could sense everything around him and he found the vampire's signature.

XXX XXXXXXXXXXXXXĄeяıe Wıℓℓıaмş ☸ ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ The streets were decently busy as Aerie walked down the sidewalk, her destination in mind and scribbled onto a piece of paper clutched into her hand. She walked arms crossed over her body and her bottom lip quivered with the cold of the late autum night, as she breathed out her breath turned to foggy white before her face showing her how cold it was. From down the street she could see the neon flashing lights that marked the building like a beacon. The only people around were either going in or heading out of the club, all trying to be as inconspicuous as possible. Aerie walked up to the front door and giving the bouncer at the front door a rather innocent and expectant look he let her in without question, probably thinking she was a dancer at the club.
Slowly she made her way to the bar and tapped the bartender on the back. "What can I get a pretty thing like you?" he asked with a smirk. "Your manager." she said simply and the bartender seemed surprised but shrugged it off and she nodded slowly as he turned and walked away to get the owner for her. It was a couple short minutes before the bartender returned with a handsome man looking to be in his forties following. "Evening beautiful. Got a problem?" the owner asked and Aerie nodded. "I wanna dance here. I am in town and need some money, only for a couple nights, I will give you no more than 45% of what I get and after tomorrow night I will be gone and out of your hair." she said, Aerie had become so used to this. Worming her way into getting a temporary job. And she knew offering him 45% of her earnings was rather generous since most girl only had to turn in 40% of their earnings. The owner smile after a moment then nodded and placed a hand on her shoulder. "Very well. You seem like you know what your doing. I will take you to the back and you will change and find your place with the other girls. Kay sweetcakes?" he asked and Aerie just nodded as she followed him into the backstage area.
Behind the scenes many girls moved around getting changed and Aerie knew what to do. She moved to the racks of clothing, quickly finding something close to what she knew. A black lingere set, and a transparent baby doll dress to where over top. The young girl then pick a pair of heels and slipped them on. Aerie moved like clockwork changing quickly, she wanted to earn as much as she could. Talking with different girls and found out one of the regular girls was home sick and Aerie easily fit into her place as they waited backstage for their cue to head out. The lights dimmed in the club and then they went out as the low lights returned Aerie stepped out onto the stage. She moved fluidly, her hips swaying as she headed to the little side stage to the right, swaying her hips as she moved she reached her hand out and grabbed hold of the pole and circled it slowly, already men sitting at her feet put money on the stage, some even boldly slipped it into the black lace garter she wore on her left thigh. The music changed becoming something low and seductive and Aerie feel into the rythm easily loosing herself in the music as she moved her body. [No problem, i have no complaints.] Movement caught his eye and he watched the women enter the stage. He glanced down the line. They all seemed fairly normal. Human, to be certain. The image of the girl on the last part of the stage stilled the beating of his heart and then set it beating so hard it physically hurt. The lights suddenly became colorful and bright and in the dark the neon shades blinded him for a moment. He clamped his eyes closed, but reopened them because disbelief forced him to. This woman brought such color to him... only one thing could cause that. A surge of joy and pride entered his mind and his nerves were raw with the emotions coursing through him. Suddenly a hot, searing feeling entered his heart. Jealousy, possessiveness, protectiveness and absolute need to have her away from the eyes of other men. He probed his way into her mind and spoke to her in a dark, sensual voice, Tell me, what leads you to do this thing? To dance half clad before so many men?

XXX XXXXXXXXXXXXXĄeяıe Wıℓℓıaмş ☸ ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Aerie continued to dance, as she working her way up, cash littered the floor about her feet and she knew she would have enough after this one night for another few weeks of survival. Her first time working under the table at a strip club she only had to serve drink while wearing an outfit that made her think of a Victoria Secret model. But it was apparent that after a while of just doing that, that the real money came from working on stage. And when she had first started she did so surrounded by other girls and she had been shy at first. But now she knew what to do, after taking advice and learning from the girls at the different clubs she had been too she found the right "style" for her.
She was able to survey the thoughts of her crowd and know what she would have to do the get the most money flying her way. But being so distracted with scanning the thoughts she was rocked to the core to sudden hear and feel someone in her mind talking to her. It frightened her, at first she feared he was the one who was after her, but the voice was to sultry and warm to be him. Instead she tried to close herself off. 'What would it matter to you? she asked trying to sound tougher than she was. On stage she flattered a bit her movements slowly as her eyes scanned the crowd trying to who was entering her mind so easily. 'Leave me alone...' she whispered. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ○ Don't look back till your free to chase the morning ○

He sighed. He hadn't meant to scare her. He caught a glimpse of a passing thought, a man was after his lifemate. This he could not stand for. "Leave the stage... I can give you what you need to survive. That is not necessary. Amd whoever this man is who is after you, will have to answer to me. But this place in dangerous. There is a darkness here that will be rising soon, you are just another snack on his plate. You should not be here. If money is what you require, I can give it to you."
He needed to get her safe before the vampire rose. He could not afford distractions, especially not one so dear and precious. He could not lose what he had only just found. Please... this word, even in thought, sounded broken, desperate, a plea for her to understand...

XXXXXXXXXXXXXĄeяıe Wıℓℓıaмş ☸ ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Aerie blinked as she slowed her dance and she thought about his offer. He offered her money, probably a decent amount and maybe more than she would make at this place. But everything came at a price and she wasn't willing to give anything more. She gave up her dreams, friends and home for the chance to live. Her life was all she had left and would not give anything else away, especially to some stranger who literally appeared out of no where.
'You can't save me. No one can.' she told him but she did do one thing he told her. As the music changed she took as much money as she could and left the stage. With this man around and entering her mind she knew it was too much of a risk to stay. She folded the bills into her bra, it would be enough for a train ticket from the city. She knew by the time she got to a new city she would need to work again, but as long as she left behind the town, and the mysterious man who spoke to her, he would not find her. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ○ Don't look back till your free to chase the morning ○

He heard her thoughts and a growl escaped him. He moved to the door and stepped out. He waited for her to exit the building in silence. He texted his prince with an apology, but as long as his lifemate was going to be stubborn, he could not carry out the mission he had been sent to do. The response he received warmed his heart and made him smile.
I would expect nothing less from you. Your lifemate comes first, as our rule dictates. Congratulations, be safe.
He did the only thing he could think of that might let him get closer to her. He shifted. A gorgeous, blue eyed, grey haired Irish Wolfhound. He was a beauty to behold, but that was not of importance to him. She was. As was her safety. He reached out to her and spoke gently. Whoever is following you, whoever is threatening you... he cannot hurt you if i am near. I will not allow it. he hoped, vaguely, that this might comfort her.
Around the great canine's neck were a set of dog tags that read; Excalibur

XXXXXXXXXXXXXĄeяıe Wıℓℓıaмş ☸ ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Aerie went backstage and discreetly changed and grabbed her things and exited through the backdoor. Pulling the hood of her white sweater over her head she walked down the darkened streets. Finding the nearest phone booth she grabbed the phone book to find the nearest train station. Thankfully it wasn't too far from where she was. Stepping from the booth she blinked and heard his voice once again. Her heart warmed at the genuine concern for her but she knew she couldn't accpet his help no matter how he thought he could protect her.
'Please just leave me alone. He destroys everyhing that gets close to me, anyone who tries to help.' she whispered back to him and then took off in a sprint down the street. Though she couldn't know, somehow she felt as if this man was going to follow her and she couldn't let him get close. She had to leave the city as soon as possible. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ○ Don't look back till your free to chase the morning ○

The dog followed easily. Large as he was, speed was not a problem. He ran along side her, his blue eyes gazing up at her sadly as he ran with her. The voice in her head made no further comment. He didn't want to push her away further than he already was. He kept pace with her and ran swiftly in silence. A bag was in his mouth, in it, money. Two chains hung at his neck. One with his dog tags... One read Excalibur, supposedly the dog's name. The second was scrawled on with fancy lettering. [reading what the image says] These hung low on his chest, however, the other chain was like a collar, fitting like a choker, the symbol on it an irish insignia, two irish wolfhounds and a gaelic knot.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXĄeяıe Wıℓℓıaмş ☸ ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Aerie jumped and looked to the dog curiously as she noticed the large dog running at her side and she furrowed her eyes as she came to an intersection and pressed the button to activate the crosswalk and she turned to the dog. She was always an animal lover but she wondered what a dog like this was doing out here and following her for. She bent down to the dog and gently leaned her hand out before it's nose to scent her before she reached and scratched his ears
"Whats a dog like you doing out here?" she asked and observed the dogs tags and read them quickly before letting them drop again. She then looked to the bag and took it from it's mouth and opened it. Seeing the money she gasped and dropped it realising who's dog this must be. "No.. Go home. I know he is trying to help... but I can't just take his money. Go home Excalibur... you'll be safe there." she said as the light changed and she crossed the road and ran to the building that was the train station. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ○ Don't look back till your free to chase the morning ○

The dog let the money go. Not like he didn't have enough of it. The dog continued to follow her. He was not leaving her alone and if he had to follow her onto the train, so be it. He could only hope he found a place to hide before morning light. He trotted after her, barking amiably.
He wagged his long, whip like tail and trotted alongside her once again. He could be stubborn too, and he had no intentions of leaving. He leaned his head against her side, wanting to feel her touch again, thirsting for the feel of her hand touching him as she had before.
He gazed up at her with sad, blue, puppy dog eyes. They begged for her to take him along. He was only a dog after all. A man passed them by and got too close to her for his liking and he snarled, baring his teeth at the man before sitting at her heels.
