The young dragonet and Hers were only a few feet away from the place Geminith had Hatched, starting enjoy the beginning of the day they and all other newly Impressed been given to 'themselves'. Currently, Jadamirei was running her hands over the golden hide in mild frustration. "Well, where does it itch?"
Everywhere. Geminith's eyes whirled at Hers, plaintively. I itch everywhere, Jadamirei. Make it stop! The former Harper's hands scratched every visible inch of hide to a litany of Much better. To the left. Ow, too rough! Scratch harder there.
Jadamirei was losing her mind.
What was she doing wrong? She knew there must be something, because Geminith was so clearly aching. And hungry. Her own stomach rumbled in response to the dragonet's wishful thought about feeding. I wish you wouldn't let it do that, Jadamirei. Geminith's teal eyes were almost reproachful. It makes me so much hungrier.
"Well, there are people feeding over there." she pointed toward the group of Riders who were passing out meat to the hatchlings, assisting riders if necessary. "Go get some."
You have to come with me. Geminith's large head butted against Jadamirei's leg, propelling the young woman over. I want to greet my sisters. She led Hers in the proper direction, looking expectantly at one of the people passing out meat. I'm hungry, she informed the rider happily. Wordlessly he passed Jadamirei some food to give to the dragonet.
Thank you.
"Thank you." The girls chorused it, only to be ignored. Jada didn't care, bending down to sit on the sand. Geminith opened her mouth. "Will you chew?"
Ladies always chew. Geminith was broadcasting to anyone around, she didn't care who heard. Everyone here was part of her family!

Mine, announced Laseth as L'in helplessly scrambled after her, I am going to eat until I pop. I am so hungry...!
"No, don't do that," said L'in breathlessly as Laseth, rumbling demandingly, plowed forward toward the people offering meat. "You cannot pop, that would be terrible -- "
Then you will have to help me, she replied, and curled around his legs once he had finally caught up to her, a possessive, protective loop of warm green hide that seemed outright designed to make sure that while L'in could not walk, it would be rather hard for anyone, dragon or human, to get too close to him.
That did, unfortunately, include Geminith. Golden or not, it did not particularly matter to Laseth, as long as L'in kept feeding her and no one got too close to either of them.
If you don't chew, you choke, replied the little green to the open broadcast. So everyone should, not just ladies. It was not that Laseth was being openly unfriendly, but her experience with her sister had left her rather ambivalent toward others at best.

That's pretty sound advice Wilth, but you'll be okay. There's no need to worry since I'm right here with you.
Mine. . . .
P'ta was doing his best to get meat for himself in order to feed his lifemate and was actually slightly succeeding, though the pieces he was getting were rather small and given to him as though they would have rather thrown them away then let the boy and his Bronze eat at them. It didn't help that his dragon had a large appetite to go with his rather large frame, so P'ta was forced back several times to get more and each time returned with less. This wasn't how the people of Ghenza should treat anyone who has a dragon, at least that's how the boy felt.
But still, from the looks of things even the new Goldrider was being treated poorly. She wasn't someone from Ghenza either as far as he could tell since there wasn't much pomp and circumstance that often came with Golds impressing, but seeing as he didn't know the ways of this place perhaps their indifference over that was normal as well. Anyway though, who was that girl? And the boy who had to chose and sent on dragonet to their death was near here and not being treated so badly? He couldn't tell from where he was standing, but P'ta didn't dare even move closer. Wilth didn't look like he wanted to move at all anyway, and he was content to let them stay where they were. . . provided the bronze stop issuing wave after wave of fear.
This was just eating!

That's true, sister! it was a cheery reply, followed by an audible gulp and a more clearly audible coughing choke. The gold dragonet peered around warily, as though to see if anyone had caught her; Jada had her brow scrunched up in a frown. Oh nooooo! It was a worried cry, also not to her future rider alone. Did they hear? That was badbad, very bad! I just told them all that ladies chew!
"Shh." Jada whispered it, leaning in to pat the dragonet on the nose. "No one else heard, I'm sure." Consolation at its best... right? Of course, between the choking fit and the nonverbal wail that was broadcast as clearly as her first words, Jada was lying through her teeth.
Geminith, however, took Jadamirei's words as fact; quite content that her gaffe had gone unnoticed, she attempted to daintily and sneakily take another piece of meat; with it, she almost took her rider's hand. Almost. Green eyes whirled contentedly as she chewed the flesh, taking in her clutchmates. Some were very sad; with good reason. She'd lost many brothers and sisters today, and there were undercurrents of little things among the People that she didn't understand. Some of the Chosen were being accepted; some, like Jadamirei, were not.
Together Geminith and Jadamirei went back for more meat. She stumbled through the sands, and each time Jada bent to help her up. Several times her little claws scrabbled; she tore the girl's gown, left a scratch on her arm.
Graceful, the new gold was not.
