Character Creation
Ready to create your very own character for Shimagakure? Here is where you begin! Please make a post in the Profile Approval Thread with all of these fields filled in to have a crew member check your profile.
If you need any help whatsoever, don't hesitate to ask a crew member. There are no such things as stupid questions! Also, if you would like to see an example of a few profiles to get yourself started, you may visit the Profile Scroll to view what other members have created. You may notice a large section with lots of numbers and stats below the descriptive parts of profiles. For now, you can just ignore that, as its meaning will be taught to you over time. After you've finished creating your profile, please post it in the Profile Approval thread, and wait for a crew member to look it over.
Gaia Name: This may seem redundant, but if you ever get a name change or your profile is moved around, we can find you much more easily. There's a method to our madness!
Character Name: Shimagakure is set in a world paralleling Japan today so you should name your character with a Japanese name. That also means putting the surname (or clan name) first.
Clan: There are a variety of clans available for your character to join. You must get permission from the owners before your profile is approved. You are not required to have a clan, though. In addition, you may elect to join a clan after graduating from the academy, which will give you a chance to explore the system a bit so that you have a better idea about what each clan could offer your character. If you wish to choose this option, your character will be unaware of their affiliation with this clan until after graduation.
Element Affinity: Unless you're in a clan with a special affinity, you can choose from fire, wind, earth, or water. Affinities determine which jutsu you can learn, so choose wisely. Students start with 1 affinity.
Age: Students should be 11 to 14 years old.
Sex: Male or Female.
Birthday: Our calendar works on a 4 season rotation with 5 days in each season. So, if you were born on the last day of the year, your birthday would be Winter 5. Make sure to include your Year of Birth. See more in Story sticky in main forum.
Theme Song: We love music in Shimagakure. If you can find a song that perfectly fits your character, go ahead and paste the url to it. Most of us use YouTube video links. You are allowed a max of three songs, so choose carefully!
Physical Description: Here's where your creativity kicks in. Describe everything about your character's outward appearance. We want to know even the most minute details about his/her hair, body shape, skin, tan, weight, eyes, hips, muscles, scars, boobs, posture, height, etc. Don't leave anything out! Have some fun creating wacky characters!
Clothing: What does your character like to wear? You can still go into great detail with simple clothing items. Instead of just saying he/she wears a black shirt, for example, try writing about the collar, how tight-fitting the shirt it, the length of its sleeves, collar, or how dirty it is. You can also supply a picture. [Keep pictures small enough to not stretch the page.]
Personality: How does your character behave around people or when they are alone? A solid personality description makes it a lot easier to step into your character's shoes when role-playing. To add another level of depth, you might want to include why your character acts the way he/she does.
Background: Even as a student, you're not limited in your character's history. Try to create an original background that incorporates Shimagakure's story into it. This can be pretty tough so feel free to consult a crew member for ideas. Remember that since the story takes place on an isolated island, you'll need a creative way to get on the island.
Other: Is there anything else you want to add about your character? Any other miscellaneous information goes here.
That's all you have to do to create your character for now. When a crew member posts your profile to the Profile Scroll, a forum that lists all of the profiles of every member's character in Shimagakure, you will notice a large section below what you have given us. This section will include your character's current level, abilities, stats, jutsu, health/chakra points, and equipment. For the time being you do not need to worry about this section, as you will be taught what it's all about in the other game system threads as well as in the academy through roleplay.
