The day was bright around her water hole. She'd become quite fond of this area, it's brilliantly growing trees, strong scented grass, view of teh mountains,a pond/lake type water hole; life just seemed to be absorbed into this plot of land, and where else would Mother Nature herself want to be then where life seems strongest. Today was as dazzling as any other day, the sun was upa nd hoveirng about midway in the sky, birds were singing a strong tune, no fear in sight. She heaved a happy sigh and enjoyed a brief silence before the birds started up their songs again.
"Such a beautiful day, only an early spring could produce such a moment like this." For there was still a cool breeze of winter in the air, but that heat of summer approached, she loved feeling the different types of weather around her, the change between seasons were always her favorite and welcomed gerat moods for a long while. Her time spent alone was, lonely though, she wished secretly for any kind of companion. For now though, she gazed into the glass like reflector, her pond.
Fleurite smiled to herself, enjoying the sun on her back and the wind in her hair. Although she had not gone through any other season, the filly was convinced that spring must be the best one; food was plentiful, flowers of all shapes and colors were blooming and best of all, the temperature was just right! It reminded her of the days she spent warm and snug, sleeping inside her basket without a care in the world, growing till she was too big and felt the urge to leave... Ah, how she love spring!
Today, she left to find a lake, what her mother had described as a 'large body of water', following the path that had been worn down by various animals. She had seen rivers near her herd, but a large body of water? As she made her way to see this lake, the filly imagined a river so wide, she would not be able to walk across without feeling tired on the other side. However, as she broke through the bushes and into the lake's view, she could not believe her eyes; it was so wide, she could not even see the other side clearly!
The silence was broken by the sound of little hooves,Nokomis at least thought so. She didn't hear quite right because of a wind, stirring in her ears. She turned her head slightly, gazing about the body of water before her. Sure enough, not to far to her left a foal had broken free from the forests grasp and was now staring the body of water as if a new discovery was made. Though Nokomis was still to far away to tell much more than what she could read from the stance from the little horse.
Nokomis wasn't one to pry, but enjoyed company to much to let this little one away with out at least a hello and welcome to her territory. So Noko lifted her massive wings and beat them once to lift herself from the ground that ahd just held her firm. Then giving a great flap her wings carried her forward, towards the pretty little foal. She landed not to far away. "Hello." She said simply.
"So that's a lake..." The filly breathed, filled with awe at the beauty in front of her; the lake was still and acted very much like a giant mirror and to her delight, created an upside down world on its surface. The surrounding foliage and mountains were part of this "world" on the lake's surface, and Fleurite wondered if she could be in this world if she was to hover above the water... She was so absorbed in her thoughts and with sight-seeing, she failed to notice the arrival of a stranger. When she was greeted, Fleurite jumped and froze like a deer in headlights. Slowly, she turned her head towards the source of the voice, muscles tensed and ready to take off.
"Wow..." She blinked at the mare in front of her, relaxing a little as she decided that the angeni was harmless. Offering a small smile, she blushed and nodded her head in greeting, "Hel-Hello..."
Nokomis was not at all surprised at the foals love of this little world held away by the forest itself. Noko had been the exact same way when she first arrived here and still often just zoned out to the waters beauty. "It's wonderful isn't it?" She asked, her voice soft and nurturing. The water seemed to react to it and stirred lightly at a breeze. "Often, water can reveal ones true selves." She said softly to the foal. Her iwngs settle at her sides and she steps forward, lowering her head to it's surface.
"Like the other staring up at you is telling you things through eye contact." She spieled on about it only a moment longer then looked to the foal and beckoned her over with the littel wings on her head. "Come take a look at yourself." She said, smiling.
"O-Oh! It is," Fleurite was snapped back into reality again as she turned a deeper red; at times like this, she was grateful for her dark pelt. Shifting her hoofs shyly before smiling, the filly listened attentively to the mare, finding her voice and presence rather calming. She trotted a few steps after her when she moved away, but stopped a short distance away from the water's edge. She frowned lightly, her voice laced with curiosity as she asked, "What do you mean by that? The other me...? Inside the-" She paused at the invitation, wondering if that would give her the answers to her questions. Hesitating for a moment before nodding, the filly cautiously approached the water's edge to stand beside the Angeni.
She looked briefly at her own reflection, and seeing nothing, looked back up at the mare's face, searching for a sign of approval, "What am I looking for?"
She gazes at the little a moment longer as she cautiously put her head out over the water. "If you look closely, watch your eye's." She said softly, she eye'd her reflection again, she knew she was lonely, missing something that she knew life would help replace at some point, but for now it was not as important as what this foal would learn. "When you look into your own eye's you'll see emotions, and if you are by yourself, talk with the reflection." She said, watching her jaw move with each word.
"You may just get an answer, whether it eb physical or from the heart. Don't always listen your ears little one, Listen with your eye's by watching body movement, and listen with your heart." She nods happily, she loved teaching others, especially foals. "You'll see more if you open up every path of sight." She hoped dearly the foal would understand, if not she had a feeling the foal would get it as she grew.
Fleurite blinked, still puzzled by what she had to look for, but turned to face her own reflection again; the angeni's words rang in her head and she focused on her eyes... Her eyes. Had they always been so... Hungry? Hungry for knowledge that is - knowledge that would one day help her to weave stories for others to hear. She knew this; she had made up her mind a long time ago, that she would tell stories far better than her siblings'. However, who are the 'others'? She was sure that outside of her own family, there must be others who wish to hear the stories she make up...
"It-It made me think..." She finally spoke, still staring at the her in the lake, "Was that... Was that what you mean?" She paused before looking at the mare again, looking even more confused than before, "Its... Interesting."
The mare was pleased with herself, the meaning had gotten through to the young foal. "You are a smart one you know, very brilliant mind." She loved boasting about what great qualities different horses had, from mare to stallion. "Beyond your beauty is a creative genius, I saw it as well." Her eye's were glued to teh young face, it had confusion plastered all over, but understanding was in her eye's.
"You will one day leave a many stallions and mares astounded by what you know. Just always keep the lake in mind, whenever you feel confused about a feeling. From the smallest to the largest. Look at the lake, the reflection of yourself and you'll know." She paused a moment, bringing her head back up and spreading her wings, they were getting a bit cramp. She wasn't flying as often as she should, but the folk here were so awesome, she couldn't pass them up. "What is your dream, little one?" She asked, her voice still calm.
"Rea-Really?" She blushed again, taken aback by the mare's comment; she was glad for the compliment, but compliments embarrassed her as well. When the angeni kept on complimenting her, speaking about her future, the filly felt her face burning. When she finally stopped, Fleurite bowed her head and gave a smile, "Thank you... I'll keep your advice in mine, um..." She fumbled with her words, trying to recall the stranger's name, but realizing that they did not introduce themselves yet.
"Oh! I forgot to ask for your name!" She frowned lightly but quickly regained her small smile, "I'm Fleurite, but please call me Fleur. Its nice to meet you..." She nodded before answering her question, a fond smile on her lips, "I want to weave stories, and tell them to anyone who is willing to listen!" She paused and her face fell for a split second before she regained her composure again, "But I still have a long, long way to go..."
Noko didn't even think about the pause of the mix up, she herself had forgotten an introduction. "My name is Nokomis, Mother Nature." She said, her title part of why she was so proud. "Don't think you're so far away." She said happily. "Most foals don't even know exactly where they'd liek to go." She admired the shades of colors the foals cheeks had gone.Beauty was everywhere. "Just never give up, someone will always try to do better, and whether they think they are or not. you have your own things. Being different, and original is a key to growing up."
Nokomis was happy as a clam, telling the foal all she coudlm she didn't remember much from her growing days, but what she did was very important to her and made her what she is today.
"Nokomis... Mother nature?" The filly smiled fondly; she had always enjoyed being around nature... Maybe that's why she felt calm around this mare? She nodded, "I will remember that... And maybe I'll tell the story of how I met mother nature as a foal one day." She giggled and beamed at the mare, "I think I know where I'm heading now... Kind of. I think that... Well, there's something else. The audience of my stories - one day when I'm an adult myself, I'm going to tell them to foals."
There, she said it; it had been in her heart for a while, but as a foal herself, it always seemed silly to exclaim. However, somehow, Fleurite knew that she could trust Nokomis not to laugh at her. She taught her a lot in this short timespan, after all!
The angeni was proud of teh openness in the foal, with a dream so big and so wonderful teh foal woudl need to be outgoing as she grew and Nokomis prayed she Kept that. "That's a wonderful idea!" She said happily, this foal was well on her way to being quite an adult, had the angeni seen one. She was excietd fore th young being. "You shall be a wonderful story teller for foals, and I'd be honored to have you talk about me in one of your stories." She smield broadly this time, her pearly whites appearing and wings giev a ruffle of approval.
"You'll be wonderful!" She said, happily. This foal, she knew would hold onto what she ahd said. Fleur was smart afterall. Noko had already depicted that, hopefully insanity from stress of things coudl be withstood by the Motehr of Nature's methods. they ahd helped her through tough times and loved that she had something to pass on.
"Thank you again," Fleurite returned the smile, feeling a little more bold than before in her presence; she can't wait to grow up... There are so many things to look forward to as an adult! She smiled to herself at the thought before realizing that her stomach was rumbling. She blinked before realizing that although it didn't seem like a long time, she really should be heading back to the herd to her own mother right now.
"Nokomis," The filly felt weird saying the angeni's name, but it was a nice feeling, "I have to go now, but if I ever get the chance to come back again, I will." She promised with a nod, "And by then, I would have tell at least one foal a story!" She bowed her head before turning and starting off in a steady canter back into the forest, glad for such a close encounter with mother nature herself.
The angeni, was left with a lost feeling, she kenw what she saw in her relfection, she rebelled the idea dn refused to even think of it as teh faol spoke up yet again. Thsi time it followed a rumbling noise, the mare herself hadn't thought about food herself actually and wasn't shocked to feel a rumble in her own stomach.
"I hope to hear the stories some day myself little one, Fleur." She said happily, she turned her back as the foal dissappeared and soon was off on her own to find more food for herself, which in this part of the lush wooded area would never be ahrd. Even during teh different seasons.
