"Gizmo, go get me that screw driver please!" The pink-haired girl called out from behind the tredmil. She brushed back a pigtail, glad that no one was in the gym as she wired up the remote control to the equipment. Taking her Pichu's offering of a screwdriver, she easily finished installing the wireless device and started closing up the tredmil.

"This is going to be awesome...." She smirked, wiping the sweat from her forehead, giving a grin to her new little partner in crime.

Hayes made a habit of working out, on the basis that it was easier to do things when you were in shape than when you weren't, and therefore being able to sprint up a flight of steps and still have breath was worth periodic exertion and an increased laundry load.

This sort of reasoning guided the Rocket to the gym today, dressed in an old t-shirt and track pants. Switch rode along on his shoulder as per usual, but when Hayes passed through the doors he jumped down to run off, only to stop at the sight of a Pichu doing something with a pink-haired girl.

Hayes made note of the pair as well. He came often enough that he knew who were regulars and who weren't, as gave Kofuku a friendly smile as he neared the machines. "What's awesome?" The question was mildly put, curious but not intrusive.

"Hm?" Kofuku looked up at Hayes and smiled rather innocently. "Oh, it's nothing at all, just talking to my Gizmo here. He learned a new trick and just showed it to me." She turned to the pokemon and gave him a pat on the head. "He's learning how to be a good clepto and apparently was ransacking my neighbor's room." She said as she gestured to the pile of tools and screws and bolts.

Hayes looked down at the collection of tools and parts; his eyebrows lifted slightly. "Whoa. That's quite a haul, little guy," he grinned. "Piika pi," Switch agreed. The Pikachu cocked his head to the side, looking at Gizmo with new-found interest. One ear flopped over.

"Haven't seen you around before. You new?" the sandy blond asked. As he did so, he prepared for his workout, fishing an MP3 player and a pair of earbuds from his pants pocket. He had a vague idea of who the girl was - she matched up to a photo in one of the new grunt dossiers - but no more than that.

Kofuku smiled and gently pat Gizmo's head. "Yeah, he's a fast learner." She smirked to Hayes, feeling like being a smart a**. "Well, I'm new to you, aren't I? Name's Kofuku." She held her hand out to shake. "And the Pichu here is Gizmo."

Gizmo puffed out his chest a little when he was introduced, wanting to look as awesome as he could. He looked over to Switch and tilted his head, curious about the Pikachu.

"Always nice to meet a pretty girl." The phrase fell from his mouth as easily as he smiled and returned the handshake, moving on. "I'm Hayes. This's Switch." He nodded in the direction of his Pokemon. "So welcome to the team."

Switch tilted his head in the other direction, mirroring Gizmo. After a moment, he straightened up and came closer. "Piika," he declared, plopping a paw on the baby Pokemon's head with a nod. You're okay, squirt.

He glanced sidelong up at Kofuku, then back to Gizmo questioningly. "Chuu, pika pi?"

"Anyway," the blond Rocket gave the treadmill a light thump, "were you doing anything with this?"

Kofuku snort-chuckled a little at being called a pretty girl. She didn't get that too often, and usually she was associated with the term 'Orphan' or 'Street Rat' or something else of that nature. "Thanks, been rather looking forward to it when I heard they were takin' in new trainers."

Gizmo blinked at the paw being on his head, then looked at Switch in confusion. "Pi Pi chuuuu?" What, I was being judged up?

Kofuku backed up and gave a sweeping gesture to the treadmill. "All yours, I was actually just on my way to return the tools to my neighbor." She chuckled a little. "She's probably tearing her room apart looking for them."

The compliment seemed genuine enough; Hayes radiated a mellow calm in response to Kofuku's sass. "Got any plans? World domination, capturing Arceus, that sort of thing?"

Switch gave Gizmo another pat, this time a reassuring "Chuu, chuu." Not to worry, young one. He pulled a screwdriver from the pile and sniffed at it, ears flicking.

"Thanks." Tools, 'she'.. not many girls he knew of owned tools. Lock picks, sure, but hex keys and multi-bit screwdrivers were another matter. "You live next to Faleen or something?" He slipped the earbuds into his ears and stepped onto the treadmill, pressing the power button and waiting for it to warm up.

"Oh, just the typical same ol' stuff. Mostly getting in trouble and causing a pain in the a** of the upper agents and what not." Kofuku gave a shrug, complete with a mischievous grin. "And yeah, Faleen's my neighbor and bff for life." She found herself rather attached to that girl, and really, that was rare for her to like someone so close.

Gizmo picked up some of the tool parts laying around and started walking over to his trainer, waddling a bit to keep them from falling.

Hayes made an amused sound and keyed in an exercise routine. "Just don't get on Seth's nerves too much," he advised, glancing up from the terminal. "I said something about his favorite programming language and got sent to the Sky Peaks. During the blizzard of the century, even." He rolled his eyes and shook his head.

As the treadmill whirred to life and the Rocket started off at a relaxed walk, Switch followed after Gizmo to return the screwdriver he held.

"I figure as long as he doesn't know it was ME who rigged the paint-bomb in the rec room, I'm in the clear...." Chuckling as she thought back on that prank, she shook her head. "Good times....." Giving a cheerful wave to Hayes, she bent down to pick up the tools from Gizmo and Switch. "I should get going, it was nice talkinn' to yah."

Oh, there was a second reason why she wanted to leave; she wanted to try out the new remote she'd wired up to that treadmill to see if it would work.

"That was you?" Hayes sounded somewhere between amused and amazed. He opened his mouth to say something more, closed it, and shook his head. "..yeah, looks like I better watch out for you," he grinned and waved casually. "Seeya."

He flicked the volume dial on his MP3 player, and as techno started drowning out the sounds of the room, settled into his workout.

"Pika!" Switch waved at Gizmo, then wandered off toward the snack machines. When nobody was watching, a Pikachu with a little ingenuity could snag a few candy bars.

Kofuku stayed just out of sight as she watched him, then turned on her remote. Turning the dial a bit, she waited to see if the machine would respond by speeding up. If she rigged it right, then the remote in her hand would over ride the chosen course and she'd be able to make it speed up, slow down, or even go backwards.

Gizmo climbed up onto her shoulders and curled up. "CHuuuuuuu" he murred a little, yawning. It was just about naptime for him.

The routine was programmed to start out easy, then escalate in speed and slope, so Hayes didn't notice anything when the machine's whirring increased and the belt began to move faster. He just adjusted his pace to match, picking up his feet a bit more. The smooth swing of his arms was interrupted when he pushed his ever-slipping glasses back up the bridge of his nose, nodding slightly to a complicated synthetic beat.

A smirk began spreading itself over Kofuku's lips and she quickly turned the dial up as fast as it would go to see how long it take for the machine to respond. Watching her test subject and stifling a giggle, she turned the knob all the way around to the other side, causing the machine to run in reverse.
