This is a Private RP between Mayu [OrionDeltaOmega] & Kyung [Koco Pelli]

Setting;;
The Cherry Tree Hill
Time;;
Daytime: Not too long after the Academy lets out
PostPosted: Mon Mar 08, 2010 9:09 pm

Being out in the calm, cool air by the Cherry Tree Hill always seemed to relax her. She could feel the tension leave her shoulders as she breathed the untainted oxygen through the half mask she wore when out practicing her martial arts or in school. Starting her routine, Mayu began to stretch out her muscles, warming them up for the work out ahead and finding her center; a location of complete concentration within her that she retreated to when getting into the groove of things.

Finishing the combination of lunges and arm pumps she began with, Mayu reached into her obi searching for the familiar shape and contours of her steel fan. Snapping it open with quick flick of her wrist, she took her first stance, drawing her fan up to cover the bottom half of her face, leaving her eyes clear to peer at the landscape surrounding her. It really was quite beautiful with the sweeping inclination of the hill and the extended drooping branches of the cherry tree.

Focus. Draw yourself into your moves. Ignore the outside world and let it fade away. You can’t waste time and attention span at frivolous backgrounds in a battle. You need to be completely enveloped in the here and now. Next stance – now.

Swinging her left leg out in a fan-like movement of its own, she threw her arms out in a defensive position, dipping low to the ground. Springing up into the air and rotating in a full circle with arms extended and fan whistling, Mayu landed in her next pose; left arm protecting her midriff as her right arm was cocked with her fan yet again shielding her face and her legs splayed out for maximum balance and security, a classic Cocoon pose. While fully involved with her moves and the next step in her Emerging Butterfly defense routine, Mayu couldn’t shake the feeling that she was being watched. Writing it off as paranoia, she continued with her moves, zoning out from the world around her.

Kyung panted just the slightest as he reached the top of the Cherry Tree Hill. Still very weak compared to the others who attended the academy but much better than before. He had made it a habit, walking up and down the Cherry Tree Hill four times a day to build endurance and strengthen his lungs. The first week or so he found it almost impossible to breath after the second climb up, and now... the fresh air coupled with an unbreakable determination had lead to satisfactory results. While the effeminate noble had thought of opting for a more rigorous climb to speed of the process, he had decided that it was best not to gamble with his health. Especially when he could die from it.

Approaching the old, gnarled cherry tree, Kyung placed a pale hand against the bark and closed his eyes as he slowly exhaled. Letting the coolness of the wood seep into his own body, her pressed his forehead against the tree as well. He could hear the pulsing of the tree's own life, the wispy breaths of the wind, and even the gentle fluttering of the cherry blossom petals falling.

Taking a few more deep breaths, the male slowly opened his eyes and turned to his left when something flashed in his peripheral vision. What he had anticipated as a threat had turned out to be something more and at the same time something less.

A girl, or young woman more appropriately. A mask covered the lower portion of her face and yet the swell of her hips added a sensuousness that could only belong to that of the female gender. Grasped in her hand was what appeared to be a fan. She moved with grace, her arms and legs retaining a fluid motion while retaining a sense of wildness. An untamed spirit.

Stepping away from the tree, Kyung watched the young woman a little bit longer before interrupting her session with a gentle applause.

"Your movements are graceful and flow like the waters of a steady stream. However, you make too many unnecessary movements. Your foundation is good but some of your movements are rushed."

The feeling was getting stronger. She could feel the eyes on her, even though she tried her hardest to ignore the tiny, raised hairs on her neck. Drawing close to the end of her routine, Mayu finished out the final stance, the Dying Flutter. It really was one of her favorite moves, with its jumps and intricate fan twirls. Still pondering the feeling of being optically scoped out, Mayu wasn’t surprised to hear the soft clapping behind her. Hearing the manly voice, which must belong to the vocals behind the placid applause, left her with a combination of pleasure and angst at his words. Deciding to take the more amicable approach, Mayu smirked to herself before turning to meet the mystery man.

Gliding her body around slowly, but just fast enough to get the desired hair fan-out she was shooting for, Mayu popped out her hip in the sassiest pose she had, dropping her right arm down to swing free as she propped her fan hand on her hip to draw attention to it. She might not always want to be treated like a piece of meat but, when she wanted, playing on boys hormones was right up her alley. Plus she had no idea who she was dealing with - better to lure them into a false sense of horny then to sass her way into a situation she didn’t really want right now. She could handle herself, most likely, but there was no reason to instigate something over some hare-brain who couldn’t recognize good form.

Taking in the sight before her, Mayu gazed at the male. At least she assumed he was male due to his voice. While there were many masculine things to him, his slight loss of breath still evident from his trek up the hill, along with his style of clothing, and extremely long hair, could call on a effeminate attribute as well. Either way, he was attractive; though impeding on her routine and calling it rushed and filled with many unnecessary movements made her sour. Not to mention, he didn’t look too much like someone who would know such things about fan dances and defensive training. Though she could be wrong. Maybe he had a fan hidden in those sleeves of his, for those times he wanted to bust out in dance.

Why, hello there. I figured there was someone watching me. Thanks for the compliments, but I seem to be missing out on the part where my movements are unnecessary and rushed? Would you, per chance, like to show me what it is I need to be doing? Slick as a otter fresh from its watery home, Mayu made sure to keep her aggravation out of her tone. Opting for a more flirtatious air, and a sense of helplessness, she waited for his response. She would see what this man had to offer her in the way of advice. Who knows? He might actually know what he’s talking about.

Kyung's face remained indifferent towards her stance. Why did she stand so with her hips out so far? Did she have a hip problem that required for her to stand so? Keeping the thoughts to himself, Kyung tilted his head at her question. Could he do it? Possibly, it was a matter of perfect emulation. The real question here was WOULD he do it. To which the answer was obviously a big fat no.

Kyung was many things. A scholar, artist, poet, musician, and gardener. He was by no means a warrior, a dance, or any other field that required strenuous use of the body. His slight frame was proof of his lacking muscles, one that were common on other boys his age. His inability to exercise, move, run and engage in vigorous activities was a source of shame and personal contempt. Yet, he was never one to complain for he had been gifted with a great mental capacity in return. A sense of perseverance that could shake the very foundations of the heavens themselves.

"I am not a dancer nor a practitioner of the fan so I cannot show it to you. But I can explain for you why I said those words..."

Raising his hands upward as if he were trying to grab a branch off the cherry blossom tree, Kyung recited a poem.

"Far, by now, from those lofty hills
I still imagine the cherries up there, how the breeze
played with thronging petals."

Despite his young age, there a profound sense of longing in those words. A smoky elegance laced with a gently ringing sorrow. A combination of emotions that even the oldest Lunarians would have a hard time exhibiting properly. They were but a glimmer of what lay in his heart, a fragment of his being. Letting his hands fall slowly to his side, he addressed the young woman adjacent to him once more.

"I wish your dancing would draw a deeper emotion from me than just a fleeting rush of pleasure. A teacher of mine, he showed me once those very same steps. I cannot recall the name of the dance, but the emotions I experienced after he finished, those I can recall with ease."

Maintaining her pose, but cocking her eyebrow behind the shield of hair that had fallen around her face, she scrutinized this male that seemed to be analyzing her based off poetry and emotion. He wasn't serious right?

Straightening up, she walked up to this unknown, smart a**, male. Not that it was a surprise, most males thought they were smarter then most anyways. With this one though, he seemed like he might actually be able to back up the claim. Didn't piss her off any less though.

As she approached him with a determined gait, her concentration was on his face. Intelligence did seem to be housed behind those eyes, though they were cast in a face that didn't seem to be one to open up to the spilling of emotions, whether this warranted him as a secretive person like her was yet to be seen.

Reaching out, she stroked the line of his chin with her index finger, smelling the scent of sweat and something else she couldn't quite place; a cologne or perfume maybe? What's this male's story? There was something that had gotten him to be this aloof, stuck-up brainiac. He wasn't meant to turn out his way, she would venture. Either way, it wasn't her place to ask.

Alright smarty pants. What is it that I'm lacking? If you're going to offer me criticism, I'll accept it, but I need concrete proof on what to work on. At the moment you're just being broad and vague.

Kyung's eyebrow twitched ever so gently as she took a step towards him. She took another step and he stepped back. He did not know what her alliance was, or how much physical strength she possess. Though in reality, the matter of the fact was that anyone could easily beat up Kyung. Be it a girl, an old grandmother or even a boy several years his junior.

Kyung was a wimp. He was aware of this fact and it did nothing to ease his irritation towards the young lady's approach.

When her finger brushed against the contours of his jaw, Kyung clamped his jaws. With his own delicate yet firm hand, he brushed the young woman's finger from his cheek. A gesture that was not meant to be cold or aloof but would appear to be so due to his indifferent expression. His body, mind, and soul, that was the only property he owned. He did not take lightly to those who simply waltzed in and did as they pleased.

"Fan dancing... is like poetry. It is a form of art. To be considered a professional at what you do, you must be able to invoke the appropriate emotions with your movements."

Placing his fingers on his chin for a brief moment as he tried to think of how to expand on this, he looked back at the metal fan in her grasp. D'oh. Why was he making this much harder than it needed to be? He was thinking of this from his prospective, of course she wouldn't understand. How could he have missed such a fundamental point he could not even begin to fathom.

"For you, fan dancing is something that composes a part of who you are correct? If so, you should put your pride on the line as a serious practitioner of the art. Fan dancing was originally created to emulate the grace and power behind elegance and beauty. When I look at your dancing, I see a bright passion and motivation but your movements do not inspire me. If I were a painter, I would admire your drive but I would never paint a portrait of you. You must put a little more of yourself into your dancing. Show me how elegant and refined you are using your fan as your medium."

He had the nagging feeling she would probably smack him for suck words. Or perhaps it was his fault for jumping into this.. that was very plausible thinking over it now. If only he had kept his mouth shut and continued on with his exercise.

Laughing to herself, Mayu was pleased by his reaction to her brushing of the boys face. So the flower has some spunk to him. He's not all flowy words and girly emotions.

Listening to the guy's words, she almost zoned out if it wasn't for the fact that he was discussing her own movements and actions. Finally hearing the tone of ending in his speech patterns, she straightened up, peering at his face in disbelief.

Hmph. Good thing you're not a painter then, eh? To be honest, I don't think anyone's ever really denied your opinion before and made you think about a suitable explanation. You've always been taken as being some prodigal son or student, haven't you? Because it's obvious you think your opinions are always correct and justifiable. Listen - I put my all into my fighting. And my form is not supposed to mimic something to be painted. That's not what fighting is about. You can't be all, 'let me prance like a bumblebee as he collects his nectar' when you're trying to fend for your life, or fight for your position. You'll just end up with broken bones, and possibly death that way. Sure, fan dancing is nice to look at, but I'm no dancer. I'm a warrior and that comes first. I figured your statements would have something to do with my actual form or execution - not the fluidity and beauty behind the movements. Reaching out with her fan, she tapped the insolent little poet on his head. There doesn't seem to be any emptiness in there. Maybe you're just too much of a book thinker. Looking too much for the beauty in things. There's a time and a place for that - and it's not on the battlefield. What's your name?

Her attitude annoyed him, but not enough for it to show visibly on his countenance. If anyone was ignorant then it was surely her. After all, elegance was universal. A master swordsman could not only replicate the necessary movements but also emitted an air of charisma and beauty around him that clearly separated him from the rest.

Brushing away her fan with his hand, Kyung stared at her ambivalently when she asked for his name.

"It is customary to introduce oneself first before asking for a name. I am under no obligation to tell you my name to someone with such terrible manners."
PostPosted: Fri Apr 23, 2010 8:14 pm

This is true. But it's also customary to introduce oneself upon first meeting. Which you didn't do. So where does that put you?

Winking at him in a teasing manner, Mayu studied his face further. He seemed to be a seemingly nice Lunarian, albeit his tendency to always have something overtly stuffy to say. I do believe he needs to get laid. This guy just needs to relax. Doubt he would though. He's too stuck on manners and the 'right' thing to do. Plus, sex isn't really poetry in most cases. I bet he would run away when presented with any sort of fornication. Turning away from him, Mayu looked out towards the trees and wildlife surrounding the hill.

You know what? Sorry about the snappiness. I tend to get extremely defensive over my fighting style and anything that has to do with it. You're right. It could do with some visual smoothing. I'm just not too worried about it at the moment. And I never claimed to be a master. Anyways, my name is Mayu. I'm attending the Academy in town. Looking back over her shoulder Mayu gave the male one last look-over. So how about it? What's your name?

His response was cut and dry.

"My name is Kyung. Tae, Kyung. I am also attending the academy," against my will. Kyung smoothed out the wrinkles in his sleeves, "And, I should not have commented on something I have no knowledge in. I should be the one apologizing."

Turning to face the sun rising higher in the sky, Kyung looked back at Mayu.

"I believe it is now time for me to take my leave. I have disturbed your training session for longer than necessary and my father will probably send a servant soon wondering whether I died up here."

Bowing to the young lady in front of him, Kyung turned and headed in the direction of the stairs that lead both upwards and downwards on the Cherry blossom hill.

Ah! VICTORY. She had a name. It only took forever, with much needling. Either way, the boy had given her his name and she was very much pleased. He was even apologizing about his comments on her fighting style. Hmph. This boy had promise. He showed the markings of someone that could be great if tempered right; like the making of a sword by an armorer.

Good bye Kyung. Tae, Kyung. May we meet again in better cirumstances. Oi! She just sounded like some middle-aged scholar. So much for smooth talking.

Looking back out over the wildlife, Mayu wondered just if she would ever meet the blue-robed Lunarian again...
