Io takes jobs and orders from her superiors seriously and completes all task assigned to the best, if better, of her ability. Due to certain tasks she was assigned during the time before the war, Io tries very hard to forget everything from before she became a captain. She is very different from the girl that helped raise Ryuta Kyoya.

Mejorarme: Makes Iokina's body the weapon by hightening her eyesight, sharpening her hearing and allowing her to hold her breath for 6-7 minutes at a time. (This ability is automatically activated with the release)
Romper el Equilibrio: The gloves on her hands are charged with electricity that can cause 2nd and 3rd degree burns if she hits it in the same spot over and over. Holding onto the opponent's bare skin or metal attached to the skin can cause electrocution resulting in disorientation and bleeding from the ears.
Mask: The remainder is in the shape of a chain with a small orange charm at the end
Bio:
Grew up in a normal town outside of Boston. When she was 12 she discovered free running (running on, around, over or under any object without stopping) and quickly became addicted to it. She mastered that in a few years and created her own style using roller blades and gloves with pieces of steel on them, wheels welded to the steel. After that she went on to rock climbing, track and field, kick boxing and fencing. By the time she was 17, Io had mastered most forms of those activities and altered them to suit her more adrenilen junky lifestyle. She dropped out of school before her senior year to persue a job as a body guard for several heads of corporation, earning her reputation as one of the best untrained specialists. At 23 she had moved from the small town to a major coastal city in China and was protecting a business man there from the local gangs when she was gunned down by a mob. She ended up haunting the local dance clubs and enjoyed following people home for the heck of it to see what happened. She was following a couple when a shinigami found her and tried to send her to the soul society but, since she was having fun, Io ran for a few more years. The shinigami managed to get a promise from Io that she would cross over in 3 or 4 yeas and she complied with the promise, going not so quietly into the Society. Soon after entering the society she met up with a young boy, Ryuta, and they stayed together for most of the time she was there. She saw her first glimpse of the Academy 30 years after and decided she would join, no matter what. She did so 50 years after first arriving in the Society.
During her years at the Academy she met up with a young man from Fuedal Japan named Kamin and they became quite attached, often pairing up on trips to the human world and worked together. He graduated earlier than her but they continued to see each other, sharing a semi-sexual/semi-friendly relationship that benefitted both but required not commitment.
She entered the 13 Court Guards as an unseated officer in 2nd squad but quickly rose to 6th seat. She was transferred for a short time from 2nd to 12th squad where she rose further to a 4th seat and stayed there for 10 years. She was appointed to head the Maggot's Nest in 2nd squad as a Vice Captain until the war against Sosuke Aizen. While she was in the Maggot's Nest a deserter from another squad entered her care and it was only till she visited the Nest that she realized it was Kamin. Neither one of them saw his imprisonment as an issue and continued their relationship. She had him removed from the Nest when news of the fall reached the Society and he vanished into the human world, courtesy of Kisuke Urahara and his gigai.
Later in her years she witnessed Ryuta grow up and become the Captain of the Kido Corps a branch separate of the Thirteen Court Guard Squads. Ryuta than disappeared into the Royal Guards as he grew more skilled. Senselessly Io became a tool to the Head Captain and was killing people off one by one. The Soul King ordered the genocide of the Seireitei and Io's brother like figure Ryuta was ordered to kill her. At their confrontation Ryuta had to kill her and at the same time didn't want to. So Ryuta staged her death as a Shinigami and instead of slaying her Ryuta removed her Soul Chain and threw her into Hueco Mundo. Io fought in Hueco Mundo and went up the ladder of hollows until she was an adjuchas. Tired of her monstrous body Io ripped off her mask and became an arrancar that resembled her Shinigami body. She still has her memories of being a Shinigami and of what happened up until then.
