So, this is an idea I thought of not to long ago. I decided to put it out there when I was watching the Oscars. The idea is making a very movie like RP.

So basically you are a director instead of a narrator. Not only do you tell how your character acts and reacts but also how people view your character. This is not and idea for non-literate RPers, it's more geared towards semi and literate RPers. Possibly going into a new category of EXTREME LITERACY! Also adding music to your scene. for example, if t is action, there might be a sudden blast energy filling instrumentals, or maybe you can top off a love scene with light romantic baby making music. Like an example of what I'm talking about:

(OOC: Scene/ Characters: The scene is in a waste land, the year 2112. Two giant robots are being piloted. A blocky one with a pilot named Jim and a round one with a pilot named Dan. I will be playing Jim, Dan would be the previous poster.)

The camera slowly moves through the grayish brown sand to come up on a far shot of two extremely large silhouettes. An intercom turns on and a conversation could be heard. "So this is it Dan? This is how you feel?" says the Jim in the robot to the left. The camera angle changes to view the right side of the blocky robot on the left that belongs to Jim. "Let me ask you why? Why is it that you feel this way about this war. What would posses you to go on that side of wrong doing?" The camera changes again to view Jim's face. A tear is rolling down his face. His face begins to scrunch up into a furry of anger. The camera changes to show his hand clutch onto the controls. The camera then closes in on his eyes. As they begin to close the screen fades out.

The camera changes to a far shot of the two silhouettes and a blast of heavy energetic orcastrated opera begins to play as Jim's robot seeped off towards Dan's. The camera zooms in on Jim's robot's right hand and a blade shoots out. The camera changes to a frontal view of Jim's robot. The robot raises it's arm with the blade. The camera pans to the left still centering on Jim's robot putting Dan's robot into the shot just in time to see Jim thrust his arm down to slice Dan and his robot in half.

So that is just an example of what I was thinking of. I'm going to try a RP where you play a director and have to make scenes like that. I might even add actors that directors have to build their scenes around.

And notice i put that music played before the action part. And with the ease of YouTube I can find any song and put it on there for others to understand what I'm talking about.

I find this to be very intriuging. Except, I think the way I would do it would be instead of roleplaying "as a director" (which implies the director is a character in the game also), you would still roleplay as your characters, but the writing style would change to script format. This would be an interesting exercise, I think, because it would challenge you to still give your character depth and development without the ease of letting us see directly into their thoughts (since the "movie" wouldn't be in first person, you would have to exclude all internal thoughts of all characters; only spoken ones would be allowed). You would have to rely more on characterization through expression and stance, even costume, like real actors and directors do.

That's what I meant, like as a director you are first person but when you get into character it goes into third person.

Yeah, you could look at it that way, totally excluding internal thoughts. The idea was more for unimaginative people like me. Like I hate reading books then seeing the movie because it shows that what I was seeing and what the author was are two totally different things. I also imagine RPs like a good anime or soap opera with certain camera angles and everything. I don't believe that a book should be treated like abstract art where everyone has their own point of view.

I think we should start one of these up, to test it out, you know?
