This is a Private Roleplay between Zhongxian[Kanove] and Shin-mu[Beejoux]Setting Forest Pond nearby the Imperial City The earlier morning's disruption had caused this, and he knew it. From his arm draped a basket filled with all sorts of cooked treats and a rather large, boiling tea pot. Holding his balance firmly on the ground he wobbled and attempted to walk rather uninterupted. Pulling from the basket a small bagel the Lunarian took a small bite and replaced it inside. The treats were to be delivered to a small temple monk up the hill. He had been given one bagel as bribery to take the basket, as well as a rather loud threat.
The teapot had been an accident, but accidents were apparently no excuse for being woken up at four in the morning to boil water. No, it had been his temper which had set him on his journey. Rolling his eyes he walked with stealth along the windy, sandy path that seemed to never run in a straight line through the overgrown trees.
The skies were dark but along his left ran a pond, shallow and wide, but just big enough for an opening of light to creep down and lend him light enough to walk. Pulling out the bagel again he listened carefully to the wind as he snacked on and froze after a moments silence.
The air was moving, stirring, and breathing early in the morning. Though the sun had long since arrived, the forest had been still and silent of life. Running a hand through his hair Zhongxian listened to the faint chirping of birds and the growling of awakened beasts.
It was a song.
With an eyebrow arched he maneuvered along the path in the direction of the song. Soon enough he found himself near waters edge listening intently to a song which flowed toward him from the opposite side of the tree.
It was melodic and relaxing, for some reason, he felt only the will enough to sleep. With his head running at the confusion that now crossed his mind of why he had suddenly gotten calm he peaked around the tree.
"What is she doing..." he whispered, his voice fading away in song.

"Focus! Your finger work is sloppy." Liu's voice was barely heard over the sound of Shin's playing, and she merely ignored him. Continuing to consentrate on her fingers and ki with eyes closed.
She was practicing her spell work, as well as her playing. Two birds, one stone. Not that Shin minded hard work, but she couldn't deny that getting practice for both out of the way early in the day wasn't a plus. It would leave lots of time later for her to work on that new puzzle she had set up in the library back home. All the pieces were sorted, reds with reds, blues with blues.. And they were just waiting there for her to get back to them.
The tree she was sitting beside offered only marginal shade, and a scattering of sun reflected off the gold and precious stones set in the looping knot of her hair. She'd picked the place for it's privacy as well as tranquil beauty, though the latter was being ruined by Liu's critical nagging. He really could be an annoying spirit at times. Useful, but annoying.
The tips of her fingers danced over the craved holes of the flute, lip lightly pressed against wide opening in one end, blowing more then just her breath over the bamboo instrument. Her ki was being woven into a spell as she played, each note carrying weight and substance as it flowed around her. The effect on anyone within ear shot would be instant and optionally temporary. Once the song ended, one could chose to languish in the calming effect, or shake it off.
Her concentration was on what she was doing, and she completely missed the sound of someone approaching and the voice that sounded around the tree and faded off. Dangerous in these times of strife, even more so considering the boy was Legion, and she was a Noble..

Running a lazy hand through his hair Zhong let the basket slowly meet with the ground of the over-grown forest and looked on with curiosity. A single unfamiliar person was standing in the shade alone. She played, concentrating on her instrument. 'I wonder why everything is so still around her,' Zhong thought as his hand reached for a finished bagel. Instead he touched the pot and nearly yelped when he nearly brought his hand up to his mouth, just noticing the blood.
Eyes watering, he ran away from his basket and tried to make it to the river without making much noise. Slowly drowning his hand in the cold water. It was flowing by nice enough that the small cut from the basket quickly healed and the dripping blood vanished in the river. With a sigh he looked back from where he had come, he couldn't see either the girl or his basket that he had left behind.
"Opps." he stated with a look at his throbbing hand before he returned to his feet and stumbled over a few roots and made his way back to the basket. Reaching down the Lunarian grabbed it and pulled it up. He had hoped that his racket hadn't disturbed the other, too much.

The song was nearly over, and the last melancholy notes wavered on the still air before fading completely. The natural sounds of the woods slowly coming back to life around her. It had been as if even nature itself had paused to listen, content in the calm that radiated from the bamboo flute and music that floated from it. Eerily silent for the space of a heartbeat before the first tentative cricket took the lead and led the chorus of insects and birds.
Of course amongst the usual sounds one would hear along the path, there was one that didn't belong. To Shin is sounded as if something large was bumbling through the underbrush, and she found herself sitting up a little straighter, leaning forward to peer around the trunk of the tree while clutching her dizi to her chest. Lily green eyes widened in surprise at the sight that met her. Another lunarian, plucking up a basket just beyond the rolling roots of the old tree.
Liu was staring at the boy coldly, not that he could see it. The old musician was pretty protective of Shin, and being an incorporeal being wasn't likely to stop him from trying to chase people away from the dark girl should she become too anxious, or appear to be in danger. As it was she was merely startled.
"Hello?" Her voice was soft and a little uncertain.

Feet tangled frantically beneath him the Lunarian dove towards the ground and fell with a soft crash in a tangle of leaves and roots. As a groan escaped his lips his ears caught a soft voice floating towards him. Curiously he sat up on his knees and looked around. He was blatantly visible to the other Lunarian who had stopped her song at all the soft noises Zhong had been making.
Bowing his head in apology Zhong gathered his things and looked back at her. "I apologize, I was merely caught off guard by the music. It sounded so beautiful." he gathered a few scattered boxes that had fallen out of the basket and placed them back inside. He might have been peaceful in nature but Zhong acted badly in situations like this.
Situations where he was put on the spot. It was rare that he even spoke at all. However, examining the other Lunarian he sensed no danger like that he had seen in Bataar and returned to his feet.
"My name is Zhongxian, I was just passing through on my way back to town. I just left the temple. Again, I apologize for my interruption," he bowed for a longer period of time before slowly rising before the other.

Shin was watching the boy with growing curiosity, features on the pleasant side of neutral. She wasn't sure what to make of him, but he didn't seem to be all that threatening, and his nervous behavior was sort of endearing. Perhaps because she wouldn't have fared much better if their positions were reversed.
"No need to apologize, the song was over." She offered him a very soft smile. Her playing could have a calming effect on herself, and she was generally less anxious at the conclusion of her playing.
"Zhongxain, it's nice to meet you. I am Shin-Mu." Liu was hoovering behind her, if the cool air and parental aura was any indication, and he didn't seem pleased by these turn of events. Shin was supposed to be practicing, and the presence of the new lunarian was distracting her from that. How was he to teach his pupil if her attention was elsewhere?
"Young Miss, you really should get back to practicing." Liu's voice was impatient and nagging, and Shin turned to frown in the general direction of it's source. "A break will not rob me of my skill, Liu."

Zhongxian bowed and returned to his knees for a moment in order to organize the basket into a way where it would be easier to carry. It's weight had been pressing on his muscles for far to long. The objects and ingredients inside messed and mixed all to easily which made the trip back home even more of a delicate and tiresome occasion. However with his features returning to normal he returned to his feet and balanced the swaying weight.
The forest made him all too calm. His muscles and features were much too relaxed in the environment. Especially since it felt more homely than the cluttered and tight tea shop. Musing to himself with his shoulders hunched he looked around the surrounding area. It was nice to see the sleeping trees flaking of the shells of winter with signs of life.
"Did you say something?" Zhong asked as his hands shifted the baskets weight nervously from one hand to another. The Lunarian had heard the other speak- which interrupted his train of thought. Nonetheless, if he was talking to an insane individual he did not want to stand around much longer.
However, he had seen much crazier. Perhaps moving closer would be a better alternative. After all, he couldn't see much of the Shin-Mu from this far away anyway, not with the glare in his eyes.
"Would you care to share and enjoy a cup of tea with me?" pulling out the steaming kettle he smiled, "I have black, white, and green teas of all flavors with me.

Liu vanished in an annoyed huff, sure to return later, and Shin had little doubt that he'd make her pay for her back talking with extra lessons. She didn't mind though, she liked playing, and she really did enjoy his teaching. It had just seemed rude to her to blow off the other lunarian. Not that she was exactly skilled on the do's and don'ts of social protocol, but assumed it would bad to ignore him and continue playing. She wouldn't have been too thrilled if someone had done that to her, in any case.
Smoothing her palms along her thighs, she shifted to sit on folded knees, facing him. She'd picked a wide, flat rock on the edge of a creek for her place to sit, but there was plenty of room for two. She would have already wiped clean the hard surface, not daring to sit on it before hand, so it was quite clean.
Pale eyes blinked at his first question. She had in fact said something, but was unsure of exactly which thing he was reffer to. Probably her last comment to Liu. "I did. I was telling Liu to stop nagging." Considering not everyone could speak to ghosts, she figured she aught to expand a bit. "He's a spirits that's bound to my dizi, he's also my music tutor." The dizi had been tucked into the wide band around her waist.
"And a cup of green tea sounds lovely, thank you."

The Lunarian had heard and seen a few of his classmates communing with invisible deities, however had had not once really paid attention too. The ghosts supposedly accompanied the guardian Lunarian at will. That was what Zhong had guessed. "I did not know spirits could be bound to items." his hands slowly set the basket of tea ingredients between them. Quickly the two hands went to work as he concentrated on the conversation.
"From what I had been taught they were merely ghosts that communed and followed individuals."he paused for a moment his eyes dropping from Liu, "Hearing of one as a teacher is strange to me."
Zhong could not admit to having been raised in the most intelligent household, or to have received the most accurate teachers. Most of them had been swordsmen and had no knowledge, or care, of the spiritual world. Zhong, although very spiritual, had never felt any such guardian around him.
"If these beings are around you, do they ever cause any harm?"he asked. He regretted it the moment he did, the Lunarian felt as if his question was to intrusive of the other. But the student couldn't take it back now, it was too late.

Her dizi beside her folded leg, Shin folded her hands over lap. the picture of proper posture and noble upbringing. She might not have been the most socially skilled, but she knew her manners, and followed them strictly.
"I know of no ways to bind spirits, but from time to time some unexplained forces can bind them to something that was important in life." Liu had been attached to his old dizi from the day of his death, and Shin had simply had the good fortune to stumble upon the spirit, whom had guided her to the flute after forming a bond with her.
"He was an amazing musician in life. I met him when I was very young, and he's taught me everything I know of music." In truth, he was very much like a surrogate parent. He watched over her, taught her lessons of life and academics, and delighted in nagging at her.
He'd been more of a parent to her then her biological ones. Liu and a one other, the ghost of a elderly woman. They had given her love and attention when her mother and father had not had time to.
She looked at Zhong curiously, not having expected his last question. "None have harmed me personally, but I don't think it's impossible."

"Not to say that it is not impossible, such a scary thing to admit. Must it?" he questioned his own knowledge with the information she provided, but by her posture and tone it felt as if she too knew only what she explained."I know naught about spirits, mainly about the fleeting strength of a sword." he admitted. Zhong knew his own ability to recognize the spiritual world had long been inhibited by his rigorous and often disastrous sword training.
Pulling a steaming cup of tea to his lips he hesitated before taking a careful drink. "You respect others well, a talent I have seen so sourly abused as of late," the Legion noted, recalling the brash fight with Bataar only times before.
"I must comment so," he lowered the tea he had been sipping in silence on from his lips, "Your music enchanted me, it was something truly unique to the soul." However exaggerated it sounded, the Lunarian knew he spoke the truth. If it had been normal music he wouldn't have lost his way off the path and ended up stumbling upon the player.

"Even in my studies, there are things I have not found. Though in this case, I am glad for it. I don't find peace in the thought that my spiritual companions may some day be impressed against their will." She gave her tea a length sip, blowing at the surface first. "We are even then, for I know very little about the strength of a sword." The extent of her knowledge fell solely in sword dancing, a hobby of her's.
Her cup was cradled in her hands, and she watched the other with mild curiosity. "I should hope so, I was raised to be respectful." She chuckled softly. "Thank you for the tea." She gestured with her cup before taking another sip. It was seldom that she came across respectful, kind individuals.
The spell of her own magic was still upon her, and instead of anxiety over a random meeting, she was calm and mildly interested. If she'd known that someone would stumble upon her, she'd have not let relaxing persuasion of the dizi's song influence her so much.
"I should apologize for that. I was practicing my magic as well as my playing, and you very well may have had my ki influence your mood. That wasn't my intention." She paused, lips pursing. "Thank you though, for those kind words."

Magic. The Legion had never truly come face to face with such existence. No, he knew his mind had never denied such existence, however, it was a bit much to contemplate for an individual who wielded sword over spirit. He didn't let his confusion or perplexity show on his face, instead, he took another drawn out sip of his tea. "If you will, I have never denied such an existence but how does one learn of such an ability?" he questioned, "Magic I mean."
Shifting the weight on his knees around he adjusted his clothes before reaching and offering the other another glass of tea. His own had become empty so in turn he filled his own and sipped at it slowly. The tea was bitter at first touch but slowly sweetened as he drank it. Closing his eyes the Lunarian smiled and relaxed more than he had been earlier.
"This magic you spoke of," he laid his tea down upon an even rock, "If it has such an ability to neutralize any sort of negative feeling it is a great power indeed. However, you seem to enjoy it for talent-like purposes; which I deem respectful." The warrior knew by experience that a power abused is a power wasted.
Withdrawing from his pocket a rag the boy offered a biscuit from the basket to the other. "I made them fresh this morning," he extended his hand, "it would do me the pleasure of you sharing one with me."
Taking a bite of the warm treat the Lunarian rose to his feet and stretched his legs by moving past the other. "Where did you find such solitude?" he asked. Zhong had found most parts of the forest were too-alive for his tastes- either with other Lunarians or animals.

Pale eyes blinked in soft surprise at his question of magic, and she was left biting back a rather tactless retort. Tact wasn't generally her strong suit, but she'd been makif an effort as of later to think before she spoke, rather then simply let slip fhe first words that touched her tongue. "Its not really a learned skill, though it does take study and training to control it. I was born with these gifts, as are many babies. Soul conduits and priests are not so rare, you know."
When he offered her more tea she gratefully accepted it, holding her nearly empty cup out to him. Filled again, she blew along the steaming surface to cool it's contents before siping. It was very good tea, skillfully brewed with subtle hints of flavors and a mild base.
"It is a very unique skill, but not exactly handy in a one on one battle. If I came up against someone skilled in weaponry, I would be sorely out of luck. If I could not find oppertunity to play, I think I would lose rather quickly." She chuckled softly, drawing the tea up to her lips to draw from the warm liquid within.
"These look delicious, thank you." She took one happily, taking a dainty bite of the baked treat. "Mmm, they are. You're very good at your craft." At his question of solitude she looked around them. At the sun kissed canopy, the sparkling water of the forest pool beside them. "I'm not sure. I suspect my playing may have something to do with the lack of animal noises."

The respect Zhong harbored for Shin Mu had morphed and changed itself before resting in his mind for any period of time. The Lunarian was respectful and appreciative and also very intelligent. She spoke with no brutality or brunt that many of their fellow Academy Students spoke with. Drawing a long sip from his warm cup of tea he smiled and nodded as she explained the depth and value of her magical ability.
He knew he wanted to practice no such ability, for it seemed to be different for every person. Anyways he knew his skill lied in more tactical areas, such as sword fighting. Poor performance seemed to follow him more-so than anything else when it came to fighting. Zhong disagreed with Shin Mu's claim that she would be fighting against odds when foed by a swordsman.
"Magic may not be offensive, remember illusions and tricks are a feared portion of the mind."he noted, sipping from his tea, "Your magic, if I may, enchants the mind by melodic rhythm. So maybe channeling your abilities with it more towards an illusionist would be beneficial for you." He had never faced the power of a soul conduit and the only thing he knew was that their power was drawn from themselves and their surrounding.
Unlike a swordsman who only faced the source of his own energy. Relinquishing his cup to the rock he listened in silence for the animals Shin Mu had mentioned earlier and nodded. There were no sounds around them besides that of a rolling stream who kept the noise down. It felt like the forest was holding it's breath in anticipation for some event.
Tugging on his hair a little Zhong eyed the trees as his mouth quietly chewed his own share of the treat. "My skill has taken many a year to work on, and it is no where near perfection." he replied, nodding his head in appreciation.
