-- laelin, now L'in ♥ name: L'in, formerly Laelin age: 16 gender: Male sexual orientation: Bisexual, with heavy leanings toward males -- but touch-phobic. craft: Smithcraft -- Specialization in Ceramics subcraft // rider to green Laseth rank: Apprentice
appearance: Tall, lanky and narrow, the only parts of Laelin with much muscle are his arms and legs, from working at his profession -- legs from working the kick-wheel, and arms from steady work with clay and pottery and the fine skill needed to control the shape of the pots on the wheel. Otherwise, Laelin is simply wholesome and honest-looking and somewhat forgettable. His skin, slightly fair, is speckled with freckles, which are especially heavy on his shoulders and back from the whole sunburn fiasco. His hair is loose, a light chestnut-brown, and straight -- it's soft and pleasant to the touch, matching his mother's -- and falls a little bit over his slightly upturned, catlike light-brown eyes. It's a little bit like he's hiding behind his hair sometimes -- but it's not hard for Laelin to hide. Most of him is various shades mousy brown, and with his clothes usually somewhat covered in slip-clay and oversized, he's pretty darn good at fading into the background. If a little extra attention is paid to him, he'll smile -- and he does have a surprisingly delightful smile, soft-mouthed and gentle, that crinkles the corner of his eyes and makes him quite nice to look at in his own unassuming way. He does, in fact, also have a dimple.
personality: L'in is, in a word, somewhat ambiguous. He's hiding one hell of a personality behind his slightly dull exterior. He wants to be noticed, but at the same time, dealing with people isn't his strongest point -- so he ends up frustrated with himself whether he gets his wish or not. Still, even though he's a failure at being noticed, that doesn't mean he doesn't notice you. L'in is watching and he wants to catch as much as he can. If he can't be the center of attention for his own sake, he wants to know all the best gossip -- and well, at a place like Ghenza, it's pretty easy. Not many people around means everybody knows everybody, and the smaller size means L'in can usually find something interesting to listen in on. And make no mistake -- he's going to talk about it, too! What's the point of knowing information nobody else does if you don't disperse it?
Though he'd never give himself the title, L'in is a gossip, shameless and when he feels it's warranted, somewhat vicious about it. He'll wield his knowledge like a blade if he feels wronged, and sometimes, just to get an edge over people. He's probably made a few enemies for himself in his day, but never anyone high-ranking who could make trouble for him. He'd be too worried to offend authority, though even they aren't immune to his ears.
On the flipside, he's also got a highly-developed personal bubble -- to the point of being somewhat phobic about being touched. He just can't handle it -- that sunburn incident had him in such misery for so long, it became second nature to fend off physical attacks, and then just developed from that to a combo-platter of touch-phobia and a healthy dose of claustrophobia too. He can't wear close-fitting clothes without feeling a little panicky, and intimate touching makes him, well, for lack of a better word, freak right out. It's not that he doesn't like people, it's just second-nature by now -- and unless he injures you, he's not likely to apologize for himself. L'in will warn you just like everyone else, so take the hint or suffer the consequences.
One way or another, he's inherited his parents' love of hard work, to the point of sometimes forgetting himself in favor of finishing this pot or that dish until his belly's gnawing at his spine. L'in works himself hard and keeps his nose (metaphorically) clean, and he expects everyone else to unless they're unable. He'd love a good long chat over the pottery wheel, too -- as long as you're working and giving him his personal space, he'll be personable in his own quiet, somewhat awkward way. Until he gets that new bit of gossip, and then he'll practically pop with the need to share.and if you call, I will answer and if you fall, I'll pick you up and if you court this disaster I'll point you home...

-- green Laseth ♥ Lasethfighting and free, got your world in my hand I'm here for your love and I'll make my stand Dragons might say that Laseth is curious, or simply likes knowing things, but the truth of the matter is this green needs to know. She will poke and prod and pester until she gets the answer, and woe betide the dragon (or human) that doesn't give her what she wants. Unlike Laelin, who uses his knowledge against people, Laseth uses her lack of knowledge to make up vindictive stories. You didn't tell her what you were up to with that bluerider? Fine. She'll tell all her clutchmates and everyone who will listen that you were doing unspeakable things in the farmer fields and everyone should be on the lookout for sexual predators like you. In all honestly it's better to tell her the truth, even if she gossips about it, simply because whatever story she'll come up with is usually ten times worse than the original. She loves nothing more than sharing her findings with her rider, and will be absolutely delighted if Hers can produce the same kinds of gossip. Gossip exists to be shared, after all, and this green will share and share alike.
Knowledge obsession aside, Laseth certainly isn't anything special. She does what she's told without bothering to cause trouble, and as such is more tolerant of some of the bossier personalities in her clutch. Dragons can huff and puff at her all they like, she certainly doesn't mind. Authority is something she can deal with accordingly, even in the face of scandalous behaviour. As long as she's in the action, Laseth is happy to follow any leader. In fact, she seems to only become more interested the moment they do something gossip-worthy. Life would be boring if only the goody two-shoes got into positions of power, and Laseth has no qualms about "stirring the pot" as it were to help keep things interesting.
After her hatching experience with her sister, this green seems to have a distinct aversion to closeness. Other dragons are fine to talk about and bother, but she doesn't want them anywhere near her body. It is not like Laseth to hurt others (at least, never physically) but she maintains a distinct air of aloofness that may make it hard for her clutchmates to get close to her. Flights will cause her an unusual amount of stress, and as such she will try to end them as quickly as possible. The sooner she can get away, the better. Didn't you hear, Mine? It was an unfortunate choice, but Laelin made it, and Laseth will never forget it. Both dragon and rider seem to have an affinity for gossip, and neither will ever be without an outlet ever again. Laseth would be extremely pleased to hear whatever Laelin hears and will always add her two cents whenever she feels she's got something to make the story better. Together, the pair can certainly work hard and achieve a reputation worthy of a green and her rider. They may never be great, but at least they have each other and their gossip.
Laelin's near touch-phobia is also echoed by Laseth, who will ensure that Hers doesn't have to put up with being too close to others any longer than she has to. While she may not help him through the problem on purpose, Flights may, in time, either help them to get over their fears or make them worse. It is up to the pair of them to decide how they will progress.
