Nikki was sitting at the edge of the big water fountain, listening to the loud sound of water crashing down from the spouts. Sure, it was loud to her because of her hypersensitive hearing, but it wasn't all that bad. At least it was better than cars zooming by or other loud sounds of the city. She pulled off her slip-ons and dipped her feet into the water, sighing at the relief of how good it felt. "Hehe, mmm. My aching feet needed something like this." She kicked her legs a little, making splashes and listening to the water make a commotion.
Brendon had been wandering around, he'd meet a few cats but he was looking for some real conversation. In the distance sitting on the fountian he saw a blonde girl, she had dipped her feet in the water and he smiled, That seemed like a good idea. The chocolate haired male walked up and sat next to her, " Mind if I join you?" He asked tilting his head to the side a bit. He was being bold just talking to anyone but he figured if she didn't want him around she'd tell him to leave.
Nikki jumped slightly at the sudden, loud voice of a male. She turned her head and quickly looked up at him, curious as to where he had poofed from. "Oh, um... sure, heheh. But, if you don't mind, please keep your voice down." She pointed to her folded ears and made a tiny pout. "My hearing is um... exceptional." She thought that was a better way to put her condition. "I'm Nikki by the way. But you could call me Nik if you'd like." She smiled sweetly at him and held her hand out friendly.
Brendon connected the girls hand with his own and shook it. " Name's Brendon." He muttered barely above a whisper. " Sorry if I was loud earlier... I'm notmallpy pretty loud." He laughed softly untying his red converse and dipping his feet into the water also. " You can call me B. Or Bden.... Hollz always calls me that. Its nice to meet you Nikki." He said a gracefull smile painted on his full lips. " How are you this fine day?" His voice kept the same soft tone not wanting to bother the girl at all. He stared at the two sets of feet under the water.
With a smirk she shook his hand and watched as he undid his shoes. Well at least he was kind enough to keep his voice down. He seemed like a pretty good guy. A fun guy. A sweet heart. After he had told her his name and what sort of nicknames he'd prefer she lit up happily, a bright smile on her sweet face. "B? Like... Bumble Bee? Can I call you Bumble Bee?" She asked excitedly. She found it absolutely adorable. Of now she would just stick to B but secretly think Bumble before everytime she said it. When he asked how she was he leaned back on her palms and watched the water dance around. "I'm good. Really good actually. How about yourself?"
The male smiled, " You can call me Bumblebee fo sho." He laughed lightly at the nickname it was silly but fun. " I'm pretty good. Trying to make friends, I Just got here not to long ago and desided to settle down here, I've been travling a while." He shrugged at the other, " I have one good friend here but I want more, I like friends." He let a perfect smile paint itsself acrossed his face. " How long have you been around here, and Is there anyone I need to look out for. I'm pretty friendly and I don't wanna get into any trouble talking to the wrong person." He drew his feet up and rested them on the dry cement out of the water and laid his face on his knees watching her.
Nikki giggled at his whole 'gangsta slang'. He was pretty silly, and she liked that. In fact, she adored silly. "Friends are great," she chimed in in the middle of his sentence and nodded, understanding how he might want a few tips on who he should and shouldn't mess with. "Well, everybody I've met here has been really awesome. I don't think there's a nasty soul around." She looked down at the water, bitting her lip and seeming troubled all the sudden. "But you might wanna stay away from the woods.... there's traps there and well... mean humans do things to cats like us." She reached up and massaged one of her ears, remembering what they had done to her.
" Stay away from the woods." Brendon repeated nodding at the girl. He'd remember that one for sure. " I don't want anything bad happening to me." He watched the girl reach up and massage her ear and he tilted his head folding his own ears against his head. " Someone did somethign to you?" He asked tilting his head his dark eyes twinkling with wonderment. The saying curosity killed the cat could really be put into play with brendon, At most times he was far to inquizitive for his own good, One time many years ago he'd schocked himself when he chewed on a cord.
When Brendon took note of this and repeated her words she felt like he would listen. At least she would hope so, because he seemed like to good of a person for something like what happened to her to happen to him. When he asked her that question though she felt ashamed, embarrassed, weak. "Um... y-yes... ya... a human wasn't very nice to me..." She admitted to him as if explaining it to a child, even if the man was older than her. She got all reserved now, feeling overwhelmed.
He nodded at her words, " Well thats awful, No one should treat someone as sweet as you mean." He told her a smile still painted on his lips. " If anyone is ever mean to you, Let me know... I'll Smack 'em with my microphone." He told her nodding. There were few people brendon felt protective over but for some reason this girl was one of them. He'd take her under his wing and he ber protective big brother.
Nikki bit her lip and felt her heart starting to warm up again. He was a really nice person. She didn't ask for him to try and make her feel alright again, but he was trying anyway, and this said a lot about the man. She wanted to get to know him more. A possible best friend? "Hehe, thank you. I'll be sure to come crying to you," she let out a soft sweet giggle and scooted closer to him. "You have a microphone? Oh, oh, oh! Can I see it? Pretty please?" She begged with her hands clasped tightly together, sitting up quickly and nearly tipping herself over into the fountain. "Woah! That was a close one..." She stablized herself on the edge of the stone wall that held the water and sighed with relief.
Brendon widened his eyes at her as she alsmot fell into the water, The male stood carefully on the wall and pulled the microphone out of his pocket twriling it around a bit as he pulled the chord out of his pocket and he handed it to the girl. " Brecarefull... Its my baby." He told her nibbling as his lip before he sat down again with a small 'oof' He them watched her for a few seconds hoping that he hadn't been too lond. he didn't want to hurt her ears any knowing now that she had sensitive hearing.
When he stood up she curiously watched him fish out the mic and the cord that was attached to it. He handed it to her and she carefully took it in her hands, "Oh wow... it's so pretty." She ran her fingers over it and curiously tapped the top. "You're a singer then? Oh, I'd love to hear you sing. I sometimes sing to myself but I'm not all to great." She admitted and handed his microphone back to him. She shifted slightly on the edge and accidently lost her balance, being the clumsy little girl she was. She screamed as she fell into the water of the fountain, it being deep for how small they were. She splashed around in the water, trembling from all the loud crashes and how her scream was still ringing in her ears. She basically hurt herself.
Brendon panicked as she fell into the watre, He couldn't figure out how to save her till his mic slipped out of his hands and he caught it with the chord. " Grab The chord!" He yelled at her wincing at his loudness as he tossed the chord into the water. " I'll pull you out grab it!" He almost begged her his heart thudding in his cheast the male panting as he panicked, He couldn't swim. If she didn't grab onto to the microphone then she was as good as dead.
Her head was killing her from all the splashing she was doing and all of the shouting Brendon did. She swore to god that her head was moments away from exploding. Soon, the words managed to register in her mind and she wrapped the cord around her hands, holding on tight. She dared not speak, fearing she would only let out her own booming voice. She tugged on it to let him know that she had it and prayed he'd pull her up quickly.
Brendon held onto his microphone and jumped off the wall that held teh water behind it pulling the gril over the wall carefully and dropping his mic as his knees went weak and crumbled underneith him, Now she was saftly on dry land and she wasn't drwoning anymore. He was panting and holding his cheast as he tried to even out his breathing. " You had me terrified." He whispered, the only time in his life that he'd ever been that scared was before Holli found him. " Don't ever do that again." His voice was still weak.
Nikki was hoisted out of the water by Brendon who apparently struggled to lift her. Once she was pulled over the wall and she dropped to the other side she laid there, unable to care for herself because she was simply terrified. She was laying, soaked on the ground, arms wrapped around herself as she tried not to focus on the pain in her ears and head now. God, all that commotion had given her the worst headach in the world. When Brendon whispered, out of instinct she slapped her hands over her folded ears to block out any sound. "I-I'm sorry..." She apologized anyways, though.
Brendon nodded his breathing evening out he peeled open his dark coffee colored eyes. " are you okay?" His voice was still just a meek whisper but he was worried about her, She just laid on the ground not doing anything and that worried him. " like really okay?: The male could barely make his voice correctly he was sure that words failed to come out some of the time.
She bit her lip and finally moved, looking up at him, still shivering of course. "Y-ya...." she whispered in the softest voice she could have. She slowly sat up, hands never leaving her ears. She didn't want any sound right now. She just wanted everything to go silent so her headach would go away. She was obviously cold from the water, since she was shaking like a leaf, and her head hurt, but she wasn't so sure he would guess that. He'd probably assume she just didn't want any loud noises.
Brendon nibbled on his lip as he watched the female, he felt horrible for the girl and he didn't know what to do the girls hands over her ears told him that he shouldn't speak to her even in the softest voice. " I'm sorry." He appologized to her as he sat there his legs crossed and his hands folded in his lap. he hadn't ever meet someone like her and he was worried about ******** up and irratating her more than he had already, He sighed nibbling on his lip and flattening his ears to his head.
Nikki looked over at him, seeming to focus on something other than her headach for the moment. "D-don't be sorry...." she whispered with a hint of guilt rolling around in her tone. "It wasn't your fault..." she scooted closer to him and slowly brought her hands down, hoping he wouldn't change the volume of his voice. It was pretty soft right now, so that was good. "I'm all wet...." She frowned and looked down at her cloths, starting to feel as though the fear was washing away from her.
Brendon looked up at her carefully his ears still flat against his head, "We should get you home so that you don't get sick." Brendon had gotten so sick in the days he'd been left out to fend for himself, If holli hadn't found him then he'd probably be dead. " I don't want you to get sick... That wouldn't be good."
Nikki tilted her head at the man, curiously wondering what he meant by home, cause she certainly didn't have a home. Did that mean he was inviting her to his home? Just to have him clarify she asked in a soft whisper, "What do you mean home?"
Brendon looked at the girl in all seriousness, " The place you sleep at night, The place where all your things are, the place that's yours and yours alone." He mumbled, He was schocked that anyone wouldn't know what hoem was. " Like, I stay at the casino with Spencer and Holli and thr crazy pregnant woman. Don't you have a place to call home?"
Nikki bit her lip as she looked down when he asked her whether or not the Scottie had a home. She slowly shook her head. "No... I lost my home..." She looked back up at him with a sad expression, feeling petty and useless at saying that.
Brendon rolled his lip out in a pout as he kept his ears tucked close against his head, " Well then I'll take you to my home and we'll get you warm and Dry... come on." He muttered to her pushing himself off the ground and standing, He'd lone her some of Holli's clothes untill hers were dry enough for her to wear again. He didn't think anyone would have a problem with her stayign with him for a few hours untill she was safe from sickness.
Nikki widened her eyes in amazement. His kindness was enough to wash away her sorrows and she stood up quickly and wrapped her arms around him, "Oh, thank you thank you!" she whispered rather loudly, her ear twitching from the pain it gave her head for a moment, but it was worth it to show her appreciation. She even forgot, in her state of joy, that she was wet and was probably getting Brendon a bit damp.
