Kimberly wrinkled her nose as she drew the small applicator along her nail, the smell of her new black nail polish was unpleasant, though it was a distraction from the way the apartment normally smelled which wasn't that much better. The young woman made note not to pick up this particular brand again as she continued on with her home manicure and nail decorating. She had a meeting with a potential buyer later this evening and a reverse french manicure was in order, Kimberly might not have her sister's talent in painting but she could manage her own nails well enough that a salon trip was unnecessary. It was also a way to pass time since she had nothing else to do today except perhaps attempt to beat her current kareoke revolution score and the neighbors weren't going to be drunk enough yet to let her singing the same song over and over again go unnoticed.
"In breaking news a 6.0 magnitude earthquake has hit the country of turkey on the planet Earth killing at least 57, this follows closely on the heels of recent disastrous quakes in Haiti and Chile. The planet is thus far still deemed stable despite the unexpected outbreak of tectonic plate shifts, Gaians concerned about family members living on Earth are encour-" Kimberly pressed a freshly painted finger down on the mute button of the tv remote, the blonde had no important family on the distant planet and no real interest in it either.
Then again.. Drix might be able to create something that could be sold 'for charity' in light of the way this sort of thing made the bleeding hearts of the universe throw away their money in the belief they were helping. Kimberly grinned and made note to ask her sister if there was time for that as soon as she was done with her nails.

"Hey, Kim?" Kendrix asked as she walked into the apartment. She had a massive pile of mail in her hands. "I think we forgot to check the mail again last week..." She didn't sound too bothered by this fact as she flipped through the envelopes. "And look, we might already be winners! I just love that guy, Ed... his name is Ed, isn't it?"
She tossed the envelope onto an already cluttered coffee table and picked out another, looking at it blankly. "Think someone wants to sue us again," she said, offering her sister the plain, business like envelope. Then she smiled. "Ooooh, a flyer for Hobby Lobby!"

Kimberly sighed and took the envelope "Great lets hope it's another thing that can be filed under that whole buyer beware thing." She really wasn't fond of going to court and she was pretty sure they're lawyer was planning to up his fee if they had to go again any time soon.
The young woman slid a now dry nail under the seal of the envelope and quick opened it. Dishwater grey eyes examined it's content and Kimberly found herself frowning in confusion. " Drix did you sign up to be a foster parent or something?" She couldn't think of any other reason someone was offering either Sheridan sister a kid. Of course she wasn't sure what her sister would want with kids either unless it was some sort of hormonal thing that had struck in the middle of the night.

"Foster parent?" Drix asked. "Ummm..." she thought back, thinking of anything strange that she might have signed lately. "There was this strange man wearing shorts in the middle of winter, and he had a brown outfit on, but I could have sworn he was a delivery guy--I mean, there was a box, and everything--"
Which made no sense to anyone not following her strange line of thought, not that she realized it.

Kimberly rubbed at her temples and shook her head " That was probably just a delivery guy then." she conceded. Of course of her sister hadn't signed them up to be parents then why did they have a letter practically insisting they go somewhere to pick up some kids from some agency she'd never heard of before. The more rational sibling was more than a little concerned and also curious about what her sister had been having delivered lately.
"Should we check this place out or just ignore the mail, it's a week old anyways?" There was a phone number at the bottom you could call but Kimberly didn't generally trust phone conversations to tell her anything reliable given that she'd started out with phone scams herself.

"You don't think the baby's in the box, do you??" Drix asked suddenly, a horrified expression on her face as she started digging through all of their unopened mail. "Baby! Baby, are you in here? Oh, there you are!" she said, picking up the rather small box and looking at it.
Then shaking it.
"I don't THINK he's in here," she told her sister, looking for something to cut the box open with just to make sure. She got it open, then pulled out a tube of paint. "Nope! Just my burnt umber! I was wondering where this was..."

Kimberly had struggled not to laugh at the idea of a delivery man sending out babies in boxes like the old stork of fairytales. It had taken her biting her lip till it near bled to not show Drix she thought she was crazy in her brief moments of panic which turned out to be for nothing.
"Um Drix you don't actually want a kid do you?" She waved the letter in her hand a little as she spoke trying to get her sister back on the topic at hand. "They're expensive and needy and do you even remember what you were like when you were little?" Not that a whole lot seemed to have changed truth be told.

Drix went silent and you could almost see the flash of strange and brightly colored memories floating through her mind. Then she clapped her hands. "That would be SO much FUN!" she said joyfully. "I can teach them to paint and go back to elementary school and take mid day naps!"
Then she stopped, frowning. "Oh, wait, mom's aren't allowed, are they?"

There was a pleasant knock at the door around that time, with four very short people on the other side. Or rather, three very young people, and one short one. The woman was Apoxi Blighto, a scientist at the Mystic Mixers Laboratories, and with her were three children.
All three children had rainbow hair with cloud puffs, though two of them had brassy skin and dog noses, while was just had plain tan and pebbly skin, that one riding on Apoxi's shoulders.
"Do you think they're nice?" the girl asked her "sister", who was walking beside Apoxi on spindly little legs.

The other female closed her green eyes briefly as if contemplating the question very deeply then shrugged, "Maybe." Only meeting them would tell her and this little one did not judge without getting all the facts.
Kimberly was about to point out that Kendrix did not have time to take naps when the knock came. " I'll get it," it was generally wiser that she did and her leg had been starting to fall asleep anyways. The con woman only hoped it wasn't the landlord again bringing about some new complaint or trying some new excuse to root about the apartment looking for who knew what.
What greeted her at the door was not nearly what Kimberly had suspected "Hello," the word was spoken boredly but was better than her normal terse 'go away l don't want any'. Little Kids at her door normally meant someone selling over priced candy.

The little boy, dragging behind all the females with rainbow tendencies, peeked up at the woman questioningly as she answered the door. This was going to be his new mother? Or one of them?
"Do you think the delivery man brought the baby this time?" Drix asked, appearing behind her sister. "He--she did!" she proclaimed happily. "Do we get to pick which one we want?" she asked the short female leading them. Then she leaned closer to her sister, whispering a bit too loudly, "she's not wearing brown shorts though... and I forgot my pen, do you think she has one?"

"Yes you do." Apoxi said pleasantly, "Except for that one." she pointed up at the tot on her shoulders then, "That one's mine."
Jillian giggled a bit, flicking her tail. "Gonna miiiss you two. Come visit, k?" she told her sister and brother, reaching down. Her fingertips barely could brush against their ears and pat them.

Someone had actually come to deliver them kids just becuase they hadn't responded to the mail? Kimberly wasn't sure she was keen on any group that was using such a hard sell, on the other hand the kids were admittedly cute. That and while she could say no to the face of kids trying to sell her stuff it wasn't really in her to shut the door on kids looking for a home never mind that her sister would never let that happen. As she pinched the bridge of her nose Kimberly moved so Drix could get a better look at the pair they were supposed to be taking in " You can pick first," she murmured. Either way she was going to end up half responsible for the kid and she'd never been one of those women who was fussy about whether she'd rather have a girl or a boy if she ever had kids. Kimberly Sheridan firmly believed in nurture versus nature
The rainbow banged girl smiled softly and looked up at her sister " I will try." She couldn't make these women take her anywhere but she would try and come back.

Drix looked at the two thoughtfully, admiring them both. And to be honest, since she and Kim lived together, it wasn't as if they were really picking. They would be sharing! But why not?
"Ok!" she said. "Tell me... what color am I thinking about?" she asked the two. "Whoever gets it right, wins!"
"Pink?" the boy asked.
"Wow, he's a mind reader!" Drix said, awed. She clapped her hands. "How did you know??"
"Cuz you're lookin' at my hair."

Apoxi snorted. "Happens to me all the time." she told him, patting his hair and smiling up at the two. "These two don't have names yet so you can give them some. They are to be brought to the Mystic Mixers Laboraties at least once per stage, though it doesn't need to be immediately or together." and to add to her sales pitch, she threw in one bit of information, "You will each be mailed a check once a month for their care."
