His walls were building up.

A fortress of emotions locked away by the endless pour of loneliness that he, a mere newcomer to adulthood, had very little experience with. He succumbed to the effects it had, not knowing what else to do or how else to go about living; perhaps if he fell into the darkness, he would begin to see the light. Wasn't that how things worked anyways?

Angelo breathed the crisp, cool air of early morning and could taste the hint of salt as he neared the sea. This land was not claimed by any wolf, although he was certain he was encroaching on some territory; the oceans waves being like a song to some, especially Angelo. Not many could deny the crashing, lulling, persuasive sounds of the sea.

As he trudged along, there was no sadness in his face. The dark black streaks beneath his eyes pushed up due to his heavy pants. In fact, Angelo usually smiled. A long, deeply rooted grin that meant more than it looked but--sufficed when confronted with situations that called for it. Such as when he met that girl...

Her name escaped his memory, but surely he would not forget the lovely face she had and that strong, always uncertain stance that was taken. That was an interesting day; two wolves met at one time! It seemed too perfect to imagine, even if one of them was a male who meant to steal the heart and eyes of the female.

The technicalities rarely mattered with Angelo. What did, as simply as it seemed, was that they spoke to him. Something outside of his own, analytical mind spoke to him and reassured him that there were others willing to interact; he just had to find them.

By now the smell of any wolf had been drowned out by the water. This was the reason he would come this far from the activity of the center region...but as he neared the tree line where the forest seemed to end and a bank of sand spread from left to right, Angelo turned on his heels and gave a big sigh.

Today felt different. It felt like a new start, even if his tendencies remained the same. He was certain that he should go and see what it is he can find, if only to reinforce his gut feeling, or to embrace the envious, blackening silence that continued to pull him further and further into his personal oblivion.

So he walked back, those so tall and mighty walls of his dark fortress chipping at its seams.

Dark padded paws lifted largely as the wolf moved along, the tan and white hint of the sand almost hiding away the legs of the female as she attempted to glide over the material. The beach was a new setting for her, nothing she'd ever experienced before, so she moved through the sand as though it were thick molasses, sauntering carefully as she neared the shore. The territory was above Agua Azul, a territory she avoided at all costs. Though she wasn't much familiar of the pack, she had heard enough rumors to keep her from its boarders and now that she had reached adulthood, she didn't feel the want to stick to her parent's heals every waking movement like a lost puppy. No, she'd explore, know life and love it.

Watching the lapping waves, she curiously crept forward. Foam spilled onto the sand, leaving behind a darker mud as it pulled back toward the aqua sea. The water appeared odd, but as it moved she grew further intrigued, not sure how it was that the water would pull itself back and forth unlike a river or creek which went in a single direction. What did this water taste like. Prancing up to the water -chasing it rather as it pulled back out- it flowed up about her legs and bent forward.

"AH! Ah, disgusting!" she spat, tongue hanging from her closes mouth as she bit down onto it. This wasn't water! It was poison! Well, maybe not, she didn't seem to be getting sick after having lapped it up, but the taste was now haunting her taste buds, assaulting her even as she spat hoping the taste would go away.

Whipping her head about the female was surprised to be distracted by an interesting smell. Looking up she peered north, standing downwind of the source and after a moment of staring intently, she saw the shape of a wolf. Now was she to approach this stranger? Certainly being near Aqua Azul it didn't seem a wise decision, what if this was one of the pack's members? But was it so? Whatever the case, she lifted her tail dominantly but pressed toward him with a curious expression on her face.

((I think I may be confused. What female was Angelo refering to in your post?))

((Oh yes, sorry for the confusion. One of Milo's gals, he met her some time ago but it was a brief encounter. He and another male were at odds with male hormones. mad ))

He had not seen her, hazel eyes scanning the treetops while behind them a simpletons mind wandered. The turn about was meaningful for him, but for the female some distance away...what did she make of it?

Gradually his gait had slowed, ears pushed back like arrows, the long silver tipped tail he waved about now limp between his thighs. Angelo wanted to find this brand new life that awaited him, but the ocean and those waves were calling with a much stronger divine purpose. The way he walked seemed to lessen his fate, not improve its likelihood.

His gut told him to run toward the sea, back the way he had first been traveling. That was his where his destiny rested, of that he was now certain; so with a HMPH, he ran.

Until the female was in plain sight, Angelo did not drop his speed. Paws pounded against the dirt, sand, or whatever laid in his way as the male tore a path in the forest floor. Her body was rigid with suspicion, but he was all smiles.

This was it.

Heavy pants were again lifting his cheeks, but a wide grin had found its place on the lips of a very happy wolf. Angelo took one last, long breath before uttering, "Good morning." in the sweetest tone manageable.

((So sorry for the late reply. Now that school is out I should be able to answer this more frequently))

Amidst the sloshing of the waves weaving between her legs and sprawling onto the shore, she could hear the steady gallop of another creature roughly her size. She pulled from her scowling at the water to look in the direction of the sound, the presence of the male now certainly heading in her direction, something she now put importance in paying attention too. She couldn't tell gender just yet, what scent he was traveling with currently too far away to pick up on when the heavy, almost sour odor of the ocean surrounded her, but by his urgent paws she guessed he hadn't yet spotted her. A thin smirk pressed on her maw. Maybe there was one feature of her mother she inherited that she could be proud of; her ocean green stripes and misty upper coat, the darker regions of her fur melting around the water appearing from a distance to be a shadow.

She watched him silently, tail still flagged, thin suspicious eyes growing somewhat wider as she saw the smile upon his face when he finally took notice of her. A brow lifted. Aningan didn't suspect this sort of welcome from a wolf of Aqua Azul...maybe this stranger didn't have any affiliation with the territory in the same way she had no connection. If this was so, then she was in luck. Loosening her shoulders, she dipped her head in a small greeting, minding not to lose the rest of her stance as she looked him over, wading through the water a few steps to get a closer look.

"Same to you," she answered, voice gruff, but not threatening, "I have to make sure but, you're not a member of Aqua Azul, are you?"

This was just a formality. If he was, she'd make a run for it. If he wasn't, she could stick around and start a conversation. Aningan was aware that wasn't exactly a friendly way to get things started, but it was necessary as far a she was concerned.

((No worries at all hon, take your time. heart ))

Angelo was part of no pack, minding to his own business where ever it decided to be. Either she was part of this Azul pack or she was not and found it wise to ask--which, she made a point of saying indefinitely. It struck him then that he hadn't wondered what kind of group might reside on these lands, free or not. It was a risky, irresponsible decision to go gallivanting about as if he ruled the world...but even then, as he canted and cocked each ear and shifted his weight back, watching a female who watched him he didn't seem to worry.

But her curiosity was expected. He stared wearily, keeping on the lovely white-marked face of hers before urging his throat to un-swell. Every rasping breath was just another one closer to speaking; if she belonged to a pack then it was her job to be unsure and his to be slick and as friendly as possible.

Finally, with his composure embraced, he replied, "No, I am not. Does that mean you are? I hadn't realized I was not on free territory."

Her shoulders relaxed at his answer, having been stiff since she spotted the male, but that didn't change the rest of her posture. Her tail still remained above the water, but was not wagging in silent warning, and could have been mistaken for her not enjoying it getting wet as it lingered above the foam. The female's expression was relatively easy. Calm muscles animated little in her maw aside for when she answered him. Her eyes were perhaps most expressive, still glittering with curiosity, but they were dark, blending in with the marking that jutted over her forehead.

"Well then you're in luck. I don't belong to this pack either. Probably not the smartest idea for either one of us to be here for very long. I've heard this...Aqua Azul is a breeding ground for tyrants and crazies," she answered back, almost grinning, "From what I hear, you don't really match the description anyway."

Her gaze followed along his muzzle, lingering on that odd bit of fur protruding between his ears. Sure she had heard of wolves having bangs, even in this pack, but it was the rest of his coat that convinced her he probably spoke truth when he said he had no affiliation here. He was a handsome fellow, not that she'd admit it, but his fine markings better suited other packs, other more harmonious boundaries. "You're not bright enough."

Meeting his eyes again, she gave a genuine smile, lifting her head a little in the process. "I'm Aningan, daughter of Heaven and member of the Order of the Rose. And what's your name, stranger?"

He too seemed to settle a bit, the exciting run no longer a reason for impaired speech.

In fact his new grasp on the situation gave way to even more interest, finding it refreshing to meet another wolf, especially one so willing to give a name and an origin.

When she spoke he listened, intent on finding out what he could about this pack she seemed so uncertain of. It sparked some fascination within him, these individuals who cultivated the unwanted wolves of the land, but it equally disturbed him as well. One for sanity, despite the roots he had, Angelo felt discomfort rise with the passing seconds they remained in place, and only chuckled in response to it.

Once she had finished he replied. "Well, it eases the worry of being questioned further at least. I'm glad to be as dark as I am, which I thought I'd never have to say." Releasing a second laugh, he continued after. "My name is Angelo and I belong to no pack...but I prefer it that way, at least for now. It is nice to meet another welcoming face, Aningan, I've been in need of it for quite some time."

"And, judging by your response, perhaps we should head back to the mainland. Two sets of jaws are better then one, if we happen to come across one of the 'crazies'."
