Lafayette had slipped away form his father and mother and circled around the lake for a while. It was a bit too cold today to be away front he warmth of his family, but he really didn't mind. It was his day to go exploring, he promised himself. He would go farther than his lake today. It was his destiny. And yet that conviction faltered as he looked over the vast whiteness beyond the comfort of his home. He glanced back over his shoulder, the bright red spot of his father pin pointing where he really ought to be. He swallowed hard and coaxed himself to put one hoof in front of the other and venture forth. A knight could not be frightened.
After all, the world was full of wiles and terrors, and it was no use staying hidden while they took advantage of others. It was the duty of a knight to venture forth and save damsels fine and ladies fair. To battle those who harm. To fight with valor as in tales of old. And so he puffed himself up to make himself look bigger than he was and fluffed out his wings. He had work to do.
