Hello! -crickets- I'm proxy, and I suck at all things related to anatomy so I need some serious help in that department. :'D Specifically for this piece:

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

(1) I need help drawing her left hand and left feet. I am totally clueless at the moment about how the perspective goes for that.

(2) It'd also be mighty helpful if anyone knows how to tone down her a** because... yeah. It looks like I stuck balloons on to her behind >_<"

(3) This was supposed to be from a bottom-up perspective... it feels like I've achieved that effect, but could anyone help me to confirm this?

Any kind of advice/critique would be greatly helpful, especially red lines! Thank you all in advance (o uo)b

do you start off with shapes? i find drawing shapes for the entire body helps out a lot with the proportions before you get into outlining details because it gives you an easier time.

also when you have trouble with hands, you can always work on the side drawing and practicing and studying hands, and then drawing it onto the final image

your head was a little small, so i redlined that too. i'm sure you'll get something different from badeye with things, but this is pretty much how i saw it. the best way to work on the torso is to know that one part stretches and the other part pinches inward. every part of the body does that.

also you can establish your spine which helps a lot in weird poses and twists by imagining where it is in the middle of the torso, which is what i did for you. i didn't really worry about the breast, which is unimportant for how you want to figure out the torso position but i drew one anyway for some reason hahahah

Pwahhh, thank you so much! * u*

I don't start out with shapes per se because I don't understand what kind of shape it would be in that perspective crying ;; But I blocked out various parts of the body in, uhh... shapes, I guess? I deleted that layer though... :'D

I made the head small to emphasize the bottom-up perspective. It was originally bigger... but then it started to look more front view than bottom view @_@; I also found that it was pretty important that the shoulder covered a bit of the chin to give the bottom-up perspective... but IDK. What'd you think? D:

The lines that you put in are really helpful o uo Previously I was having trouble identifying where the spine was as well because of how it twists... the entire back area was giving me a headache actually. It's a lot clearer now though! I should have an easier time putting the clothes on and stuff > u<

Thank you DrunkenStyle! <3

no problemo

if you have trouble posing, you can also act it out yourself to see what works and what doesn't

the pose is actually pretty uncomfortable if you try it out lol. if you wanted the bottom-up perspective, you didn't have to make the head smaller, just make the angle of the head match the angle you want. in your case, the entire composition should have curves that go upward

i hope that makes sense lol

Ok, I did two drawovers here. In both of them I changed the degree of rotation of the head since I think turning the head slightly would really relax the whole pose.
The first one is looking at her from a fairly straight on angle, going with what you've got:

One point to be careful of is the leg supporting her weight. Whenever a limb is supporting the weight, it should be in a straight line from the head to the ground, or the person'll look unstable. That leg should also be locked since she's in heels, which means she's standing on her toes (which locks the knee).

Another thing to be careful of is the arm in the background. Just because we don't see the shoulder it's attached to doesn't mean it's there. Think about where it's growing out of when you're deciding how long/where it should be.

Second drawover is going with what you told drunken about a low angle. This wasn't very easy for me and I'm sure Goshu could whip the pants off me in a ladies from low angles competition, but hopefully you can get my idea:

Halfassed the shoe, sorry, don't know anything about high heels sweatdrop
Again her supporting leg is right under her, but as things get nearer to us they get bigger and overlap the things behind them.
A few of the most telling areas are the breasts, buttocks, the forearm overlapping the upper arm, and the bottom of the shoes. We're looking up at these things so we're seeing a surface we don't usually from front-on or the side.
I'm not gonna lie though, drawing the second one was kind of a sonofabitch and if you take it on it's going to be difficult, especially if you're not so confident about thinking of shapes in 3d space.

I really reccommend when you're choosing poses and such that you draw a teensy, no-detail thumbnail sketch of the pose you want, just to figure out how the body shape is going to look. You do it small and with no detail so it doesn't take forever and you can quickly draw more if the first one doesn't look right. That way you don't spend 10 hours on something and then realize it looked really odd from the beginning. Doing little thumbnails like that can save a lot of frustration lol

Really hope that helps, be sure to ask if you want me to explain something better. And don't mind my mistakes, lol.

DrunkenStyle: Yeeeah, I get what you mean about the pose being uncomfortable, lol -neck strain- @_@;
Not too sure what it means by "curves that go upwards", but I think you might've meant what Badeye illustrated in his second redgreen-line drawing, where the body sort of fits into a triangle, so everything sort of goes upwards?

Badeye: Thank youuuu, that's some very useful advice you've posted, and yessss it helps a lot :D

I think one of the biggest problems I have with drawing is that I have no idea what the heck I'm doing, lol. I've read tons of tutorials on how to block out different parts of the body using cylinders/beans/cuboids/shapes to create an anatomically sound structure, and I can understand how it works, but I can't seem to be able to visualize things that aren't there @_@;

So when I try to draw a body using blocks and stuff... well let's just say it doesn't work like it's supposed to. I'm not sure if it's simply due to a lack of practice, or whether methods like that just don't work for someone who's so horrid at visualizing things in general, but I don't want to be finding excuses or anything :

And yeahhh I sorta knew what I was getting myself into when I picked a pose like that, but I learn pretty well through examples, so I thought I might as well give it a go, or I'll never get around to drawing anything other than frontal views, lol :'D

Idk, doing basic stuff from the front isn't so bad either. I guess being able to visualize will come with more practice. If you want to give yourself a good workout, try drawing guidelines over a photo or existing drawing that looks anatomically sound and then remove the picture and look at your guidelines alone. Maybe that'll help you get a feel for it.

Oops, I didn't notice there was a reply, sorry @_@;

I used to draw guidelines over real photos/other pictures as practice, but even then I don't seem to get it right, lol. I think you're right, though, I should really just start from the basics (frontal view) and practice practice practice... then see where it goes from there.

Maybe I really should do the 3D shapes practice... ~_~
