Skye had a habit of looking down at most of the girls at Crystal, they just weren't up to her standards. Of course there was Imo and her roommate Serah but otherwise Skye wasn't exactly the best at making friends. She was better at making enemies, in fact, she was really good at making enemies.
She had decided today she would give Choci a good brushing. Her horse, Chocolate Star was her prized possession and quite possibly the only animal in existence that she liked. She wasn't an animal person, in fact she would happily hunt most animals. She never understood vegetarians and she believed them all to be self righteous and well rather stupid. Animals were there to be eaten, all but Choci of course.
Skye knew she wasn't the only girl at the school with her own horse, not that she had met any of the other girls who owned horses here. She had seen quite a few gorgeous looking ones but mostly it was just her and Choci and she ignored the rest of the world.
"Come on boy, that's it good boy." She spoke softly to him as she led him out the stable and tied him up so that she could brush him down. She knew that someone from the school could brush him down for her but as if she was going to let anyone's grotty hands touch her gorgeous boy.

A taxicab pulled up, and Jada stepped out of it. This was time for some R&R. She hadn't seen her Lady in almost 2 weeks because of stuff, and when she'd snapped this morning, she knew it was time to get out of the house and go take a ride.
When she stepped out of the taxicab, she didn't look like the socialite she normally did. It wasn't in her dress; she was wearing clean denims and a button-up top with 3/4 sleeves. Even her hair was impeccable. No, it was in the sickly yellow-green bruise running along her face that was showing through even though hidden under the best concealer she could purchase.
Did she get in street fights, or was she being abused?
Neither. She ground the heel of her boot into the dirt, heading past the redhead grooming her stallion and into the stable. It took only a few minutes before she came back, leading a black mare into the sunlight and tying her to one of the grooming posts near the stranger and her stallion. Lady Luck snorted, tossing her head; she'd been locked up for too long! She wanted to run!

Skye ignored the girl as she walked in, she generally ignored everyone who came in. Skye did however keep an eye on the girl and watched as she walked over to one of the stables. The horse that was then brought out stunned Skye. She generally didn't look at the other horses in the block but that one was a beauty.
"Nice bruise. Riding accident?" Skye looked at the girl, she hadn't noticed the bruise when she walked in but it was somewhat obvious now. Of course it was clear that she had tried to cover it up but make-up was never good enough for these sorts of things.
"Beautiful horse by the way, she yours?" Skye had no issues talking to random people, especially when there was possibly something in common to talk about. Horses seemed to be a good start, after all they were both grooming them. Skye was planning on taking Choci out soon maybe they could ride together?

"I fell down some stairs." Jada said wryly. "Though I'll keep the riding accident in mind for anyone else who asks. Not around my Lady though." she stroked a hand over the ebony-haired mane, patting the thick neck. "She'd be horribly insulted if I let anyone think she'd dropped me or tossed me, even on accident."
The grooming brush ran over the dark coat in even strokes. "And yes, this is Lady Luck." she tapped her on the shoulder. "Say hello, Lady." The Hanoverian tossed her head, snorted, and pawed at the ground, one rich chocolate eye whirling to examine the red-haired human.
Jadas' purple eyes moved over the other girl's male, appraising him. "Your fellow isn't so bad himself." her voice was appreciative. "How old is he?" He didn't look that old, and he looked very well cared for. "Gelding?" she wasn't of the mind to duck down to check, and at this angle it wasn't like she was getting a view.

Skye just nodded. She wasn't one to nose about accidents mostly because she got the odd bruises every now and then and hated making excuses up for them. Skye did smile though when she mentioned the horse being insulted, she could see Choci being insulted if she ever said such things about him. However he did have a mean temper.
"She is a beauty. How long have you had her?" She was curious. The bond between them either meant the horse was just a really easy going girl or they had known each other a while.
"Thank you, I do adore him. He is about four now, getting on a bit." She smiled and patted his neck. He was being oddly calm at the moment which she was relieved about.
"No he isn't a gelding, father refused. Apparently a guy should keep his manhood. He seems okay most of the time though, sometimes he can be a bit frisky though and he has a mean temper. He is being pretty good at the moment though. Father also said it would help his performance if he stayed as he is." You could hear the skepticism in Skye's voice. She would have happily had him done but she was use to him being how he was and she loved her boy regardless of his friskyness.

"He's only getting into his prime!" Jada protested. "I've been with Lady since she was a foal; she's 6 years old now, and runs very strong in competition." The student was moving her hands quickly, obviously only giving the mare a basic brushing for the moment.
"And good for you, young man." Jada turned her attention to the lovely stallion. She admired him a bit more. "What breed is he? And I'm Jada. Jada Chamberlyn." she set the brush down, moving over to the stranger and extending her hand. "I attend Crystal Academy."
It cost her nothing to be sociable! "I was actually just giving Lady a brief rundown before I took to the trails. Would you and your lovely lad be interested in joining us?"

She knew that her boy was getting in to his prime but at the same time he was getting old. His characteristics were changing as he seemed to get older and Skye didn't like it too much.
"You compete with her? I compete with Choci here, have done since I got him." Though it took a little while before she could control him enough. He had been a wild thing.
"He is a pure thoroughbred, apparently his parents were famous show horses but father won't tell me who. I know he paid a fortune for my boy though. I was very grateful." She smiled and patted her boys neck before carrying on with his grooming.
"I am Skye Fortescue, and I also attend Crystal. I haven't seen you around the school before though." She smiled as she extended her hand to take Jada's. Skye liked this girl.
"We would be interested. Choci would love the chance to show off for a girl I am sure."

"I do compete with her." Jada patted Lady Luck and pressed a kiss to her nose. "She's a Hanoverian. My father owned her sire." she could remember riding the stallion as a little girl. "When I told him I wanted a pony, he bred me one."
She grinned aver at Skye, giving her hand a confident shake. "I may attend Crystal, but outside of classes, I'm rarely there. The gym, the stables, the mall..." she shrugged. "Mostly the library. I volunteer there."
Lady Luck snorted, reaching her nose out for Skye, sniffing at her. Did this one have something sweet? "And Lady Luck would love the chance to show off for a handsome fellow, herself. Wouldn't you, my lovely?" she patted Lady's nose, making the mare snort and toss her lovely head. "Well, take your time. I'll brush Lady until you are ready to go."

Skye listened and smiled. She was liking this girl, really liking this girl. She had a beautiful horse and she did competitions. "What competitions do you do with her?" Most riders had a favourite even if they did a lot of them but Skye would ask Jada that later if she remembered.
"She is a truely beautiful horse. Does your father breed horses a lot?" Skye was curious, she liked to know as much as she could about someone. She got a little obsessed on the odd occasions but she was trying to keep it on a friendly level for now.
"Fair enough, I spend most of my time here or shopping or doing archery though my equipment is at home and the school's really isn't up to scratch." Skye was curious about the library though, why would anyone want to volunteer at the library? Then again she use to volunteer at the soup kitchen before she got her job every night.
Skye smiled as Jada spoke and then patted her horses' nose. She turned back to Choci and finished brushing him down. He really was a beautiful animal.
"Right all clean. Shall saddle him up and then am all set to go!"

Skye had a nice smile. Jada noted it with the same idle eye that appreciated everything beautiful. "Lady and I specialize in show jumping; we do a little dressage on the side, but this girl makes me want to brag." she patted over the long legs, stroking down the side.
"He doesn't do much breeding himself, no. Conflagration was a stud for about a year before daddy bought him. As far as I know, he has three children. Burnout belongs to the original owner, and then there was Lady Luck and Miss Fortune." Miss Fortune was her mother's mare, a pretty little thing. Not as well-trained as Lady, but she had a smooth gait and was a good riding horse for her mother.
"Archery sounds like such an interesting hobby!" Jada gave the other young woman a smile. "I've always been a little curious about it, but I've never actually tried it out. I'm surprised I haven't seen you at the mall before, though." her pretty mouth turned down, thoughtful. "I go all the time. I guess we just pay more attention to the beautiful things than the other shoppers!"
As Skye finished brushing out Choci, Jada slipped back towards the stable. "Well, saddle up!" She called to Skye. When she exited, she was bearing only a bridle. No saddle; she wasn't planning on any formal jumping today.

Skye listened and watched as Jada patted her mare's legs. "Oh cool I am more for the cross country kind of girl. Choci isn't too good with Dressage he is a little too wild for it. Holding him together is hard work." Not that she didn't put him through dressage it just wasn't her top choice when it came to eventing.
Skye just nodded as she spoke about her father's stud. At least he hadn't been overused as a stud Skye had heard of some horses that were used too much for their breeding.
"Archery is fun, father taught me at home." Skye smiled rather proudly, she loved her family and was so proud of her heritage. "I am also surprised we haven't bumped in to each other before. Maybe we will at some other point." Skye then put the brush away and headed to get the saddle and bridle. She never rode bareback.
She put the saddle on Choci and then the bridle before climbing up onto his back.
"You don't always saddle her?" Skye was curious as to why anyone rode bareback. It was so uncomfortable!

Jada smiled. "Cross Country would be something interesting to do, certainly. Lady is a very versatile beauty. I wonder how you'd do, don't you darling?" the mare huffed in Jada's face, nosing at her middle. "I'm sure he is a bit of a handful. Stallions typically are, from what I have heard."
She pulled herself up on Lady, smiling over at Skye. "I may come seek you out for a few lessons in how to use a bow." she said lightly. "If you'd be willing to teach me, of course. And no, I don't always saddle her." she patted Lady, shifted her weight. The mare responded like liquid, leaping forward until Jada directed her to pull around in a tight circle, directed her to back up with a few gentle motions. "I don't need to. Certainly, a saddle would help stay on, but when I know that I don't plan to jump, I go bareback. It is more comfortable, less weight on Lady." Not that Jada was a considerable weight even with tack; still, she went as light as she could on her 'fun riding' days.

Skye listened and nodded. Jada didn't do three day eventing then? Well not everyone did. Skye only did because she loved the jumping, holding Choci together through dressage was hard work but it was worth it to see him fly over the jumps in the jumping and cross country.
"Oh I would be more then happy to give you a few lessons! It would give me more reason to practice as well. It doesn't seem all that popular a sport here as I was hoping it would be." She smiled as she spoke, holding Choci rather tightly. He was getting a little cocky with a beautiful mare showing off. Skye would have just laughed at him but she wanted to show herself off as well as him.
"You find it more comfortable? To be honest I have only ridden bareback once and I fell off, as I was rather young. I haven't tried it since." Skye admired the way that Lady moved, she seemed to more so freely. "Maybe I will try it again sometime..."

"Much more comfortable." Jada agreed. "You can feel the way that your partner is going to respond as they do it." it was bad luck that the other girl had fallen off, but she didn't say anything other than give (what she hoped) looked like an understanding frown. "If you notice, I don't use bits on Lady either."
Jada guided the mare out towards the trail when it looked like the redhead was ready. "She's very responsive without them, so I find them an impersonal touch. But I would never go without a bridle." That would be suicide. It was a nice enough day, a few dark clouds in places, but nothing major. Jada looked up at the sky as Lady hit the thicker part of the trail and paused out of habit; normally at this point Jada held her to wait for Fallon and Talon.

Skye listened and nodded. She had noticed that the mare didn't have a bit and wondered whether it would make a difference on Choci. He could be so crazy sometimes.
Skye followed behind Jada thinking about what she had just said. It wasn't something that she had considered before. "I don't know about the bit, I am not sure how Choci would react without one. Maybe I can try him without one but still with a saddle. Do you ever use a bit?" Skye pulled Choci up beside Lady as the trail widened a little, it was always harder having a conversation when one was in front or behind.
