megahina1 (i havent watched brotherhood yet so bare with me) is al and mei even the same age? ahe looks kinda 7ish in the pic hard to say o.o i don't think Mei's age has ever been mentioned. for all we know, she could be the same age as Al but just incredibly small. as for favourite canon/almost canon pairing...i can't choose gonk so i'll cheat and go with EdWin. M u s t a n g I refuse to wear a dog collar Lol. Mine in order: Roiai, closely followed by LinLanfan, AlMei, and finally EdWin, just 'cos I don't like Winry. The deepest, maturest and most detailed relationship I think is definitely Roiai. That's why I like it. I like LinLanfan because of the gulf in social ranking between them, the fact that nothing will come of it.

I remember once I calculated Hawkeye's approximate age with evidence in the manga, especially flashbacks with Hawkeye and Mustang in them, but I've kinda forgotten. Hmmmm let's see...
I seem to recall that Hawkeye was 17 when the Ishbaelan war was on. I would tell you my source but I honestly cannot remember. But somehow I seem to remember getting to the conclusion that Hawkeye is in her mid-twenties. Say, 25 to 27.

I'm pretty sure we're talking mangaverse here, most of us anyway.
Though it's nice to know exact things like ages, I don't really think it's essential, at the end of the day. But I totally agree, a databook of the FMA characters would be nice, to know ages and timelines and stuff.
There are set dates and things shown in the manga and in Brotherhood, like on various characters' gravestones (spoilers: Hughes and Hawkeye's dad) but it's hard to piece things together, isn't it.
And having an animated episode where everyone's ages are stated is pretty unelegant and ungainly and in your face, if you know what I mean. A databook/profile book or whatever you want to call it would be more fitting.

Cassaela A databook/profile book or whatever you want to call it would be more fitting. heck, even a small omake discussing it would be fine (for the bare minimum anyway). but i do agree that at the end of the day, ages, birthdays and whatnot aren't really essential, hence why Arakawa hasn't mentioned them in great detail. they aren't really relavent to the story, so it doesn't get mentioned. as long as we have a vague idea, that's fine. ...but unfortunately, the vague idea regarding Mei is a little too vague, and that's why we're having this issue >.< it's hard to determine if she's just small/young-looking for her age, or actually as young as she looks. EDIT: apparently there's 3 guidebooks out, but only the first has managed to be exported. not sure if the lack of information on Mei is because of this or if it doesn't appear in them. ...and we're kind of off-topic.

Yeah, we wonder about Mei's age because of the potential massive gap between her and Al. I usually assume she's about 12. A very short 12 year old at that xDD My friend has profile book 1, it's great (has a ROCK SOLID quiz in it which just gets ridiculous past the intermediate stage), but there's no Xingese people or Briggs people or anything =( But yeah, back on topic!!! ... *has nothing to say*
