All in all, he was feeling fairly smug. He was usually a reasonable card player, but last night he'd really been on fire! This meant that his purse was now a lot heavier, and he was currently lounging in the weyrbowl with Raith, waiting for the last of his winnings to arrive. M'bar was a decent sort on the whole, and so he had chosen not to make a fuss when the man realised he'd bet more than he had to spare. The fact that the man's brother was a vinter of some skill might have been a small factor as well, just a small one.
The blue rider had rushed off to beg a few good bottles first thing, but L'thor himself had been in drills when he returned, and then he'd had work of his own to do. As such, Feneth had informed Raith that His was planning to corner some candidate or other and tell them to make the delivery after lunch.
Lunch! The dark blue flitt on his shoulder made a questioning noise; he'd already had lunch, but could there be more? L'thor snorted, and gently chided the fat blue; if he ate much more, he would be too big to fly!

Be a good girl, and take this to L'thor. You know who that is, right?
Of course Millet knew who L'thor was! He was the Greenrider who had come to High Reaches from another Weyr entirely just before the last clutch and his dragon was named Raith. Such information like that was child's play to Milly's memory and almost an insult, but instead of taking it as an honest question she let her mind translate it as a form of praise. If she changed the tone here and there on how they said it. . . .well anyway! She had to go deliver something! Maybe it would be in her best interests to start calling herself a Runner now that she was being used more and more lately for errands and deliveries, but that was being a little arrogant on her part. Milly knew she was being asked to do all those things before the people simply didn't want to be bothered to do them and they all knew she couldn't say no. It was a mild problem that she needed to fix, but how could a person so easily fix their personality?
"Come on Gully, we've got to find L'thor. The man who gave us the errand said he'd be lurking around outside and that with my eye for faces I'd be able to find him in one try. I know he's right and we can't miss him!"
There was a giddiness in her voice as Milly spoke to the blue flitt that flew around her head in dizzying circles, her happy words echoed with little chirps and whistles. The pair were having their own private conversation in their own little world, and somehow actually managed to walk right past L'thor. Shameful!

Hey! Another flitt! River, who had been dozing on Raith's back, raised his head as the girl with the blue walked by and gave a friendly cheep; he didn't think he knew the other blue, new people were always good! Dusk turned his head slightly to watch the pair pass by and sent a lazy feeling of agreement to his brother; new people were nice, but they had to come and say hello to him, he was busy waiting for Rust to shift so he could have L'thor's lap. The brown lifted his head to take part in the exchange, his eyes fading to dull yellow; new people? Uh-oh, and River was taking off to meet them, they'd come over here. Time to go!
The whole exchange happened rather softly, and soon L'thor found that River had gone off after some girl, Rust had vanished, and Dusk had dropped down into his place. "Oof, watch where you're jumping you heavy beast," he muttered, though there was no real edge to his tone; it was hard to be cross with flitts... He hoped River didn't get in the girl's way though.
He wouldn't! River chirrped as he circled above the stranger's head, and sent a greeting to her companion. What was in the package she had by the way? Was it food? If it was food it should be kept away from Dusk, because Dusk was greedy and would try to eat it!

The moment another flitt came into view Gully gave a cry of surprise and darted Between leaving behind Milly to deal with this new comer. She wasn't the least bit surprised by how her beloved companion acted, her mind already getting used to how he ticked and socialized around others. Gully liked Milly and only Milly apparently but that was more than enough for the Weyrbrat. She liked being able to monopolize on someone's feelings for once. But anyway, back to the point at hand! A flitter usually meant a person since Milly had never seen any of them around that were wild, and she sent her gaze about the area until she spotted a man nearby with a large Green dragon. It only took a few seconds for Milly to place the beast's image with a name and the name of her rider, therefore leading her to believe the person before her was the one she was seeking.
"Ah, L'thor right? I'm Milly, I was sent here to give this to you."
Milly jogged over to the man quickly and carefully so as to not disturb the items she was carrying, stopping only to introduce herself before she held the contents out. There was a wide grin on her face as she looked from man to dragon and back again, also taking in the view of the flitts. It made her a little sad to know that she didn't have all the flitt names down to memory like she did the dragons and their riders, since there always seemed to be so many of them. Perhaps it would be fun for her later to make a list with as many as she could recall at a time, to help her learn.
"He said that if you have any problems with it then you're free to return it or just take it out on me if it's damaged in any way."

"Ah-ha, yes, that's me!" L'thor grinned and got to his feet, gathering Dusk into his arms as he did so; the lazy thing would probably just have slid to the ground otherwise. "Trust M'bar to suggest to shoot the Runner if something's the matter," he snorted, accepting the bottles of wine (four as agreed) and putting them into his bag. "If there's anything the matter I'll send all of my flitts to bother him day in day out until he corrects his error." The bottles looked fine though, well sealed and prettily made. No, he couldn't see there being any issue with the drink at all.
"Anyway, good to meet you Milly, as you can see River's pleased to meet you too," he waved his hand at the little blue who was still fluttering around this new interesting person. "I hope she didn't scare your one too much," he added, "means no harm but he can be a bit much to handle for shyer creatures."
What? Too much? River cheeped and came buzz around L'thor instead; he was only friendly! He just liked meeting people. Shame the other flitt had gone away, but at least he could be friends with this girl!

Shoot the Runner? Why would anyone want to shoot her? Millet hadn't heard that type of phrase before, so she did her best to store it in her mind to ask one of the kitchen workers later. She could always ask the rider too what he meant, but she didn't want to see too ignorant to top off having a skittish flitter. The man seemed concerned after all, so it would be nice to be polite back.
"It's good to meet you too L'thor, and your Green Raith. I've heard a lot about you, I used to talk with Panata before he left. He talked about you often, since he said Raith was one of the few dragons he wasn't scared of. He really likes her."
Millet's memories of the young boy before he had left for that Ghenza place were happy ones, filled with conversation and flitter chatter. She hadn't had Gully at the time they were together, and she hoped her friend would come home soon so she could show him. Plus he probably missed his two flitts, having been told he couldn't take them with him.
"Oh but don't apologize for your pretty blue. Gully is actually just really nervous around everyone that isn't me, but I'm working on making him better. He at least doesn't vanish now when other people talk, just just cowers on me a little. He'll be back-"
Almost as if on cue, the little blue appeared from between and settled quickly near Milly, chirping softly.
"Right now. Silly Gully, always right on time."

As the blue reappeared, L'thor grinned and called River back over to him; no sense spooking the poor little beast again. "You know Panata then?" he asked rhetorically, reaching up a hand for River to land on and then nudging the blue to find a perch somewhere on his person. "I suppose you would," he went on before she could answer, "as candidates you probably see a fair bit of one another... I'm glad he thinks well of me," the rider grinned again, "Meisir certainly thinks well of Raith. Her backside is about all we hear about from him, but she loves the attention of course, vain thing that she is."
At this point Raith raised her head and grumbled at her rider but her eyes remained a happy blue, indicating that she was jesting with him. As the deep rumble stopped, the dark green made a show of preening like a proud bird before lowering her head back onto her forefeet and closing her first two sets of eyelids in order to doze.
"See," L'thor snorted and gestured at his lifemate, "enough vanity for a gold all packed into the lovely sleek body of a green. It's a wonder she doesn't explode from the pressure of her own ego, it really is."
