Huffing a dusty breath, Coryth peered up at the sun glaring overhead. She was hungry and thirsty from her work, but that could wait. Life's little inconveniences could always wait in the face of a discovery. She circled once more the strange rock that jutted from the earth, head tilting back and forth as she studied the details. It had all the promise of being an interesting find, if she could just dig it out. But the more she dug, the more of it there was, and what this morning had been an unusual stone had become quite the boulder through her efforts, with no end to it in sight.
It never even occurred to her what she might do with the boulder once it was uncovered. It rarely did. Time and again she had labored days to excavate a material, only to abandon it once her curiosity was sated. What mattered to her was the study of strange things. And it occasionally amused her to think that others might stumble across her finds and be likewise fascinated.
Licking her parched lips, she closed in again and scraped a patch of dirt away, carefully holding one paw against the rock to block her claws from scoring it. Another few hours of this and she might actually be getting somewhere. Maybe this would even turn out to be one of the really amazing rocks that looked like bones! She had only seen that once, and longed to prove it wasn't a fluke.

little did she know that where she was digging out this boulder was in the Bhanu'Ecchumati Pride's lands boarders and she was about to have a run in with one of its members. Tokeldo was scouting the area as he had been told to keep unwanted intruders away, and it seemed today he had the unfortunate luck to find a unwanted intruder. grinning, he was pleased that the intruder seemed too occupied and so he purposely sneaked up and jumped right onto the boulder that she was uncovering. " you should pay attention to who's land your digging in." sneering at her, he was more than amused some female would take all this time uncovering something so worthless but then again to him females where worthless.

Coryth jerked in surprise at the sudden voice. The rock was speaking to her! She stared at it wide eyed, and swallowed nervously. She'd seen some unusual things in her travels, but this was definitely a first. Should she speak back? What did one say to a rock? I'm sorry for digging you up?
As she raised her gaze up the boulder, she saw the other feline standing on top of it, and realized her mistake. But her embarrassment was immediately washed away by the urge to protect her work. "Be careful up there!" she gasped. "Some history-stones can be very fragile, especially the animal-stones! You could cause irreversible damage!"

all tokeldo could do when she yelled at him was laugh at her. " you honestly think that some rock is of any value? you really must be stupid." still laughing, he almost couldn't control it cause he thought she was beyond stupid to care about some boulder that she was digging up. "and i will say this one last time. you should pay attention to who's land your digging in." sneering, he couldn't believe she hadn't even bothered to pay attention to what the had said moments ago. "at the moment your digging on my pride's boarders and it doesn't make me very happy at all." purposely he scratched his claws across the boulder, making a loud screeching noise cause of it so that his point was made. " do i now have your full attention?"

Huffing a breath in annoyance, Coryth nevertheless backed away from the boulder carefully. If being near it might antagonize him into damaging it further, it was best to give way. She tried not to show that she was genuinely hurt by his words, though. She had been told before that her hobby was pointless, but never so bluntly. "I don't know why people always chase me off their territory," she scowled. "I don't want your game or to stay. I never take anything, not even the rocks I dig up. If I found giant bone-stones, like the ones I found in a canyon far from here, they'd belong to your pride. You should be grateful I'm digging them up!"

Tokeldo was a blunt, in your face type who was cocky also. but the words she responded to him with, only made him laugh. "you should be smart enough to know that intruding into someones territory with out permission and digging in it would piss them off. it obviously isn't your territory to be digging around in." he honestly wondered how the hell she managed not to be killed by intruding into other prides' territories. "all we care about is keeping the unwanted intruders away from the territory and right now your a unwanted intruder."

Coryth continued backing up, but eyed the boulder longingly. It had a pattern along it that looked like it might be a plant shape; it was the best find she'd had in a while, and she was loathe to abandon it. She weighed her options, and glanced at the other feline skeptically. She just might outweigh him, which might balance out her inferior fighting skill. She hated to take a risk like this, but maybe she could chase him off, and buy herself time to finish the excavation before a larger predator could show up. There were few things she was willing to fight for, and they were all rocks. Puffing herself up, she made a firm stance and growled low in her throat.

Tokeldo went from amused to very very very displeased. the minute she took a firm stance and growled at him, he no longer was messing around. "do you really want to take the risk of getting yourself killed?" he snarled at her and bared his teeth at her. " even if you manage to beat me, which is highly unlikely. the rest of my pride members will hunt you down and kill you for daring to attack one of its members. not only that but the son of the pride's king." oh he was lying that he was the son of the pride's king, but well he actually had no clue that he really was the b*****d son of the king. "you better back down now or else your going to get that throat ripped out."

Coryth winced inwardly at his words. Oh just wonderful, she had really gotten herself into it now. She doubted a pride would actually be able to chase her down, especially with the way she zigzagged on her travels, and the way most prides stuck to their boundaries like they were solid cliff walls, but this fellow sounded pretty serious. And she hated combat anyway. But the rock called to her. Why had she ever gotten into this risky hobby of hers? "Look, it's just a bleeding rock. It means everything to me, and absolutely nothing to you. Why not help me dig it up and roll it out of your territory?"

" like hell if i would help dig something up and let you wake off with something from this territory." Tokeldo was not in a forgiving mood, specially when someone got cocky enough to try to stand up to someone like himself. oh he was very cocky and beyond arrogant but well he liked how he was since he never had problems taking others on. " i suggest you leave this area before i start to debat on wether or not i should let you leave here alive or not." baring his fangs and claws extended, he was no longer messing around when it came to wanting her to leave the area.

Licking her jowls nervously, Coryth racked her brain for a way to get out of this nasty situation she'd put herself into. She was running out of options, and fast. The younger male wasn't backing down, and as much as she might put up a front, she honestly didn't want to fight, not even over a rock. If it was a proven stone-bone, it might be a different story, but she wasn't even sure what it was yet. Backing up, she still didn't turn her back to the other. "Alright, I'm starting to get the picture. I'm going."

Tokeldo was pleased when she finally backed down and said she was going. " good, now get going before i change my mind about letting you go." grinning, he stayed on the rock to make sure she did leave the area. it would look bad if he just left and took her on her word that she was leaving. plus he never trusted anyone but Thona since he had trained him brutally but was also upfront with him and forced him to get strong.

Sighing, Coryth contined to fall back, but she didn't turn to leave. She hadn't been faced quite so aggressively in a while, and she didn't trust the other not to attack anyway. She couldn't help but give some final advice. "If I were you, I'd take a good long look at that rock your pride defends so zealously. It just might be more important than you think." She shook her head. "I'll never understand pride lions. You never look at the things around you." Only then did she begin running away.
