Name: Beth Age: 12 Gender: Female Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual Craft: Harper craft(drawing) Rank: Apprentice/ Candidate History: Beth lives with her father, Ben, and mother, Eliza, in a tiny hold, named Twin Valley Hold, located in the mountains near High Telgar Hold. Ben is a carpenter and uses the local woods for most if not all his pieces. Mainly he does smaller items with highly detailed designs, but occasionally he may be talked into doing larger items like bed frames and wagons. Eliza is the hold’s resident riding beast breeder. They sell their wares at High Telgar Hold and take Beth along for exposure to the wider world.
Many of the small hold succumbed to the plague when it raged through. Only a few small families, who were out with the herds in pasture, survived the deadly plague. The surviving families are now trying to rebuild what they once had. As a result, Beth does not have many children near her age to play with. Becoming self-sufficient and entertaining was her answer.
Often Beth would be found in the kitchens tucked into a small corner out of the way. When the kitchen fires cooled she could scavenge the charcoal to use for her drawings. Once when she was 7, she found a piece of hide on the counter and with a piece of charcoal from the fire began drawing on it. Much to her dismay later she found out that that particular piece of hide was being used by the cookwoman in developing a new recipe. The harper that came after the plague had gone saw her potential and gently coaxed her learning.
Appearance: Many would say, when they see her, that she is too skinny for her age and height. At 4’7” her slim arms and legs don’t give her much presence. Given this, she tends to fade into the background when around adults. She prefers to wear simple, dark colored clothes. A loose shirt and breeches is a habit acquired from her mother during riding.
Her dark blonde hair hangs mid-way down her back. She often has it tied back in a ponytail. This keeps it out of her way when she’s drawing. If it is not tied back when she’s thinking really hard on something she has a tendency to play with it. Almost always she is carrying scraps of hide and low-grade charcoal in a special container she designed with her father’s help in crafting it. The wood has been smoothed perfectly on the insides of the two compartment container and the wood stained a dark brown. On the outside, carved so the lighter wood shows through are dragon motifs. One compartment holds her hide scraps and the other her pieces of charcoal. Personality:
Overall Beth is a quiet and pleasant child. She tends to be shy when meeting new people and talking to them makes her nervous. When she warms up to somebody she helps when she can and otherwise tires to stay out of the way. Deep down she prefer animal companionship to that of people. This makes it doubly difficult for her to make new friends. Nor does she take friendship lightly, only when she feels they have earned the right will she call them friend.
The one thing she tries her hardest is to never lie. Honesty is a very powerful trait to her and she prizes it accordingly. If she catches you lying to her you become lower than wherry dung to her. It is also very hard to redeem yourself. Beth once crossed has a very bad tendency to hold a grudge even for turns. Anyone with a problem will always find a willing listener and attentive audience in her. She tries to offer advice per her twelve turns which isn’t always the best. For her friends her protective nature will assert itself. When she feels her friend is in the right she will stand beside them with stubborn almost blind loyalty.
Beth’s two passions are animals and drawing. She tries to draw almost anything she sees, from a bench at a gather to sunsets in her mountain home. But mention drawing and dragons in the same sentence and you’ll discover her true passion. She dreams of nothing better than putting the magnificent beasts down on paper or hide. It’s like watching a rose open; she simply blossoms and is perfectly content to talk for hours to whoever started it.
Other: I know I have her as an apprentice, however would like her to still be living with her parents. Second if her father could acquire a fire lizard egg I’d like to know how. I do want her to be Searched while at High Telgar Hold with her father. (Chibi has kindly agreed to do an RP Search for me, Thanks!) I would like Beth to grow into a leadership role so most RP will be based towards that.
Any problems with timeline please let me know. Also if I titled it wrong I'm sorry; wasn't sure what to base the title off of.

Looking good! Here are the answers to your questions:
- Living with her parents is fine, as long as she's not an official Harper apprentice. Official Harper apprentices have to go the Hall, unfortunately. So she can certainly be a girl with a talent for drawing who could learn what she could from the Hold's Harper, but she wouldn't be considered an official apprentice.
- Her father could definitely acquire a flit egg. They're sold (for a decent price, not super expensive) in the Holds, so he could get one at a Gather or use his craft to trade for one.
- Searching is still good! <3 It'll probably be M'dor and green Ichoth, who's up in the Telgar Weyr info sticky under NPCs if you want to have a look at him.
- Last but not least, I can't accept profiles with any kind of OOC dragon preferences in them. It would cause us a lot of headaches if we had to remember who wanted this colour more than another, etc, so we just don't allow it. The only reason we let people say no to metallic colours is because of the OOC and IC responsibilities of those colours which not everyone wants to have. She, ICly, can dream of riding a gold, but in the event of a Hatching we'll pick a dragon for her based on if she matches the personality, not any kind of player colour preferences (barring the 'no metallic' thing). Make sense?

Ok, edited out the part with the gold. I didn't want her an official harper apprentice so that works out perfectly. How would I go about getting the fire lizard egg? *Was thinking of father trading work for an egg* M'dor would be fine. biggrin Thanks.

I have in-thread games giving them away, usually. <3 Sometimes raffles, sometimes trivia, sometimes drawing contests. XD If you hang around in thread, chances are you'll get one. If she doesn't get one before she's Searched, she could pick one up at the Weyr as well.
