Okay, just wanted to clarify a few things I've heard about DHL shipping service and customs. Hope this helps somebuddy. ALSO, if you have more info about USPS, UPS, FEDEX, and any other main international couriers for lolita stores or eBay or shopping services, etc, tips on shipping and customs, PLEASE ADD IT. Also, I have only had a few experiences with DHL and talked to a few phone reps, so if you think I'm mistaken, tell me. I'm used to USPS and UPS.
Mind you, this is just what is SUPPOSED to be done, there might be a few rebel couriers out there who do it different.
DHL
If it's International, they require a signature. No exceptions.
If you order guns, contacts, vitamins, or pretty much anything that could wind up on CNN as a danger if it's not up to snuff, not only might customs get involved, but an in-person signature might be required, no leaving the package at the door.
If it's something adult (like weapons or something) it requires a signature of someone 21 or older.
If you miss them, they leave a note stating the day they will re-deliver, and there's an option to sign then so they can leave it for you.
If you live in an apartment complex where your front door is a high traffic area, they will not leave the package unless you sign allowing them to leave it at the front office, then they will leave it in the office on the second delivery. They will not leave it at the door. If the office is closed, or off site, they will not leave it.
If you live in a condo complex, house, etc where you have a porch, they will leave it on their second delivery if you sign their note.
You can have someone else at your address sign for you.
You can call DHL to have the package re-routed to another address, BUT you have to FAX permission. This requires personal info so they know it's really you.
You can call DHL to hold delivery so you can pick it up at their office, BUT this requires photo ID so they know it's you.
They attempt deliver at least twice, and will inform you if it is their last delivery attempt.
The End.
