There are the several Cert Backgrounds you may choose from when it comes time to certing your pet. Each background corresponds to a different place on the Shakaiyo map.
However, you do not have to choose the background that matches the place your Shakaiyo lives or hangs out the most. It is perfectly fine for a forest-dwelling Shakaiyo to have a mountain cert background.
Also notice that the "orb" color (where the owners name and found date are located) can be tinted different colors upon request.
