It's not really a mafia guide, but it's what I know best. lol
Here are some basic do's and don'ts for milking the Marketplace. It's my favorite way to make money because you can do it afk, for the most part.
I suggest you have at least 100k to start up with if you are looking to get into vending.

 The 7 Golden Opportunities
1. Misprices This is when someone ******** up and sells something for significantly under the next price, usually by missing a zero. Sometimes they miss two, or enter another number completely. Your chance of getting these is pretty low because they are the most risk-free way to profit, but they are always worth going for. The best place to look for these is the Just Added page.
2. Inventory Sales/Bulk Sales When you catch one super-cheap item, check the user's store for other cheap items. They could be liquidating, and that usually means quick cash for you. If you stumble upon one of these, be quick. You're probably not the only one who's going to spot it.
3. Bundles They're often a bargain even when you buy them with gold. Add up the prices of the contents, you could be surprised how much you could walk away with just by opening it up and reselling the items individually.
4. Monthly Collectibles They sell fast and they're usually pretty stable, most people know that. What most people don't know is that the letter is sometimes considerably cheaper than its contents. wink
5. Evolving Items Buy them on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday after they don't evolve; that's when they are usually cheapest. They always go back up with people's hopes next Friday, so it's a pretty safe profit.
6. Stupid AIers I suggest you keep a hoard of obscure older items on hand and watch their prices. Sometimes you can get away with selling items worth 1k for 5 or even 10k to someone who's trying to sell them for 400k. rofl
7. Hoards Inflation is going faster than ever and your gold is constantly losing value for that reason. Don't save it, invest it. Check graphs for histories and sale amounts to find out if it's a good buy, then go for it. By no means should you leave a ridiculous amount of Gold in your account - it's like you're losing money.

 The 7 Deadly Mistakes
1. Misprices This is when YOU ******** up and sell something for significantly under the next price, usually by missing a zero. Sometimes you miss two, or enter another number completely. Your chance of getting these back is slim to none, so learn from it and move on. **Author's note: I have been working the vend since 2007 and not once mispriced an item, this is completely avoidable if you are paying attention.
2. Spending Sprees Yes, it's tempting to go blow that entire million you just made, but remember that with this method you need money to make money. Try to keep at least 300k on you at all times and make sure your shop is full before you go spend.
3. New Items DO NOT BUY THEM. You have a chance to profit if you catch a cheap one, but if they are easily and publicly accessible (Daily Chance, new RIG prize, etc), get rid of them as soon as possible. They will almost always deflate.
4. Buying Sealeds Remember the Rock Puppy and Rock Hard? neutral Yeah. Just. Don't do it.
5. Not Doing Your Research Always be well-informed about the items you are buying. Know where they come from, how stable their average price is, how many of them sell daily, etc. Ignorance is the #1 cause of money loss in the vend. If you're not sure, check the graphs.
6. Buying something AIed You see something worth 50k, but the lowest price is 200k and the next one is 1mil. You know it's not especially rare or wanted, but the potential for profit is there. Don't be tempted. Sometimes you can get rid of it fast enough and make a quick buck, but if you can't, you could lose a lot of money.
7. RIGs USE YOUR HEAD. You can win a lot or you can lose a lot. Some of it is luck, but some of it is tactics. I personally very seldom lose on level-up type RIGs because I back out and resell for profit at stage 3 or 4. It's not often wise to go for the big prize.

 Additional Notes
Try the Gaia Exchange forum if your internet is too slow to vend; you can usually get good deals here just by making an offer.
