Yeah so this update that was supposed to protect my computer against rootkits just made my laptop go to a blue screen of death. Now whenever I start up my computer it just says disk-read error. I can't even get into the damned BIOS to force it to load off of the CD-rom so I can reinstall the OS. Thanks a lot microsoft, keep up the good work!

The update could have been corrupted during your download. Or, your computer may have been interrupted during the install, ******** up the boot sector of your hard drive. Unless this issue is widespread, you shouldn't blame Microsoft right off the hop. Since you blue-screened, I'm going to guess that that's what interrupted the install. If you can't get into the BIOS, that's your own hardware's fault, as all motherboards should allow you to get into the BIOS before attempting to load the OS. If you honestly can't, that's the most fail motherboard I've ever heard. I'm 99% confident you bought your laptop from either Dell or HP, although I wouldn't even expect them to fail that hard.
