BOSTON (FOX25, myfoxboston) - State lawmakers will debate a bill today that would make it illegal for parents to circumcise boys, unless there's a medical reason.
It would ban the procedure on any male under the age of 18.
Under the legislation, people who disregard the ban would face a fine and possible 14-year prison sentence.
The proposal classifies male circumcision as genital mutilation.
====
Apparently the legislation has forgotten what 5% of the state practices for a religion. The Moyels are gonna feel this one!

I foresee a lot of people making the decision to either give their sons milah in secret, just as we had to do in Egypt and just as we had to do under the Greeks during the rule of Antiochus; or to move away from that state.

divineseraph About time they end this barbaric tomfoolery. yeah but that barbaric tomfoolery is what pledges the children to the servitude of HASHEM and is payment for tribal membership and a life time reminder to show that we are chosen.

I foresee this bill being defeated, either in its initial vote, or the moment someone takes it to court as an infringement of religious rights.

Behatzlacha-S Sri Iskander "or the moment someone takes it to court as an infringement of religious rights." Feeling political enough, Neuf? I have a strange feeling this bill will die on the senate floor.

If we were going by tradition, let's live in caves and go back to worshiping Ba'al. ******** tradition.

divineseraph If we were going by tradition, let's live in caves and go back to worshiping Ba'al. ******** tradition. Nope we covered that part too; Ba'al practice is idolatry which is also a traditional no no And it came to pass, as soon as Gideon was dead, that the children of Israel again went astray after the Baalim, and made Baal-berith their god. And the children of Israel remembered not HASHEM their G0d, who had delivered them out of the hand of all their enemies on every side;either showed they kindness to the house of Jerubbaal, namely Gideon, according to all the goodness which he had shown unto Israel (Judges 8.33-8.35) So... seraph, what's wrong with traditions? what's wrong for a people to say as a whole. "This is our way, this is how we roll and this is what we do, Represent y'all!" Do you not like it because it's technically a blood offering?

Should we go back to sacrificing animals, as the jews did? Should we stone homosexuals and women who practice sorcery and keep slaves? Tradition, tradition, tradition. I have nothing against tradition when it doesn't harm anyone else. It's a personal choice. However, tradition goes entirely against progression of understanding of God. If you want an archaic understanding, by all means, go for it. But do not cut off a child's foreskin because you think you should. If it's really important to them, they can have it done themselves.
