Laying on back among the grasses Wingu's eyes were glued to the sky. Nothing new there. The little cub had the hardest time not looking skyward. Some days he wished he could be a bird so he could go and visit the sky. This was one of those days. Wingu was oddly jealous of the birds who got to fly and soar in the large blue expanse. Tail flicked about as he watch a bird zip over head. "You're so lucky Mr. bird." He said with a laugh.
Stretching his paws skyward he thought about just what it would be like to live among the clouds. Sure they made rain and the occasional thunder storm, but most days they were just so white and fluff. Nothing down here was like that.

She was perfectly fine with having four legs and being able to walk on the earth. She had never really had an interest with flying, though she was amazed that there were creatures that could do that. Her day had started off simple enough.. She had slept well in the shade of a large tree, and awoke to a bright morning to greet her. She loved nights like that, that lead to beautiful days. It just meant that it was destined to be a good day though and through.
She moved at a steady pace, not really on a journey anywhere special. She had thought about visiting the watering hole.. She had been a touch thirsty this morning as she woke.
She had been sniffing for the waters, when she realized that there was a small cub staring up at the sky. She was happy she had started paying attention, after all. She would have been so upset if she had accidently stepped on him or something.
"What are you doing?" She asked, her voice soft.

Wingu had been too busy staring at the clouds to notice the lioness approach, but when she spoke he couldn't help but smile. Her voice was soft and gentle just like mama's was. "Hi." He said in a playful way and then pointed to the sky with his left paw. "I was looking at the clouds and the birds. They are very pretty." Wingu told the lioness
Tail flicked a bit as he glanced at the splotchy lioness. She was pretty just like the clouds. In fact her spots kinda looked like clouds in the night sky. That made him smile more. Then his eyes moved back to the sky and he pointed at a big fluffy cloud. "That one looks like mama." After a few moments he pointed to another one. "And that one looks like you."

When the cub spoke, she gave a large smile, as she followed his paw and looked to the sky above. So he was watching clouds? She had not done that in a long time. Probably since she herself was a cub, and her mother had been there to protect her from harm. Mother never let her out of her sight when she was a cub.. She would have never had freedom like this little male.
She lowered herself to her belly, not wanting to seem threatening, and watched the clouds he pointed to. She supposed she could see certain shapes in the clouds that resembled things she knew of. It made her smile, and the white clouds and little cub had seemed to brighten her day.
"Oh I see! It does kind of look like me doesnt it." She giggled, and rolled onto her back to look at the sky some more.
"So whats your name, Kid?"

Wingu smiled as the lioness laid down beside him. It wasn't too often that adults seemed to watch to cloud watch with him...well besides mama anyways. Turning his head he looked at the splotchy lioness. "I'm Wingu Ndoto. Everyone calls me Wingu. What's you name?" Wingu was certain that this lioness would have a pretty name. How could she not with such a pretty pattern on her fur. It so much reminded him of the sky and clouds, that he didn't mind looking at her instead of up at the sky where his eyes normally stayed.

She smiled, and looked back at the paint splattered male, before answering.
"My name is Kiira'Lani." She replied, and looked back at the sky. She was starting to like this.. It was like drawing pictures in sand, only she didn't have to draw the pictures.
"It's a pleasure to meet you Wingu.. Wheres your momma?" She asked, the question that had been nagging her in the back of her head. Hopefully he hadnt gotten lost. She couldnt take a cub with her, but she couldnt leave him here if that was the case.
"Does she know youre out here alone?" She asked gently.

His smile grew just a bit bigger. "That's a pretty name." His eyes moved back to the sky, his favorite thing to look at. He stayed silent for a few moments while he looked at the clouds and birds above. "That one looks like a hippo." Pointing with his paw to a large puffy one.
Then he glanced at the lioness again. "Oh mama is out hunting. But she's knows I'm here. I never go far from the den and always stay where I tell mama I'll be." Wingu told her with a nod to accentuate his point. Besides he never got far even if he wandered because all too soon he was looking at the clouds...again.

"Well thank you. I like to think my mother named me well." She answered warmly, her face lighting up, though it took a softer look. She was happy that someone else liked her name, after all, she was kind of partial to it.
"It does! And that looks like a crane!" She replied, pointing with a paw that had an extended claw. She looked at him with a smile, hoping she would be allowed to play his game.
"Oh good. I was hoping you'd say she was around. No cub needs to be without their mother. Ever." She was very adamant about that..

Wingu tipped his head to get a better look at the cloud Kiira pointed out. Why yes, it did look like a crane. "Yeah! It's a crane." His eyes roamed the sky for another cloud to point out to. Finally he found it. Lifting his paw he pointed towards a medium sized cloud with several tendrils coming off of it. "That's a gazelle. I like gazelles."
Tearing his eyes away from the clouds he looked at Kiira. "Do you live around here?" He asked her curiously. Wingu had never seen this lioness before so he wasn't sure if she did or was merely traveling through.

She was enjoying passing the time with a sweet cub, and she nodded when he confirmed her crane cloud. She gave a smile, happy that he had been able to see the shape. [And that he was letting her play his game!]
"Oh I don't really live.. anywhere really." She responded. She was traveling, in search of the right pride for her. She was looking for safety, and being a rogue simply didnt cut it.
"What about you? Does your momma live in a pride?"

It was a disappointing though that this nice lioness was just passing through. Wingu didn't want to lose the first friend he had made outside of his siblings. "Oh no," He said with a shake of his head. "Mama doesn't live in a pride. I don't know about papa though." Wingu hadn't seen his father in - well he wasn't sure, but all he knew was that the lion wasn't in his life.
"But I would like to live in a pride one day." He told her with a nod. "I bet there are all kinda of different lions in a pride. And I would have lots of friends to play with." His brow furrowed in thought for a few moments. "But I wouldn't want to leave mama for a pride. I would take her with me. Mama is special."

As the sun started to touch the green mountainous plains in front of them, she realized it was getting later than she had thought, and it was time for her to continue her journey. But she scrunched her nose and gave a little giggle.
"Oh yes, dont leave your mother. Your mother would miss you, and everyone is special." She nodded, and gave him a nudge with her head, while standing.
"It was a pleasure to meet you, little dreamwalker. I do hope to see you again. Stay safe, my friend." She replied, turning to leave.

A small frown crossed Wingu's maw. She was leaving already? But she just got here. He rolled onto his side and watched her turn to walk away. "Wait!" He called out after her and rose to his feet. "Will you come and see me again sometime? I would like it if you did." He gave her a pleading look just begging her to say no to him. He didn't want to lose one of the first friends he had made outside of his litter mates. Hopefully she would at least say she would try to see him again.

"Of course I will. How could I say no to someone cute as you?" She asked with a little smile, and a wink.
"You behave now, and respect your mother." She mused, before flicking her tail and giggling, resuming her course. She had to get to a den by nightfall, and she was a little ways off from where she wanted to be.
She hated to leave the cub so soon.. But soon enough, she would meet him again.
