Maria was a young girl living on an island in Finland. She was soon turning 17 and was still in school. She was still living whit her mouther in a house on the country side, but she didn’t mind. She loved her home, the forest surrounding the home, the few people who lived there and the nature.
But there was one thing she didn’t like about her home village, and that was the people in her own age. They went out partying every weekend, drank, smoked and did all the things “Every young person should do.”
Maria hated that. She wasn’t the one who would do it for money even. And that was one of the main reasons she wasn’t popular, not in school or the rest of the islands young people.
Most of the girls in her age bleached they’re hair blond, while she still had her brown red-ish hair.
Girls where putting on make up, while she didn’t bother showing her freckles.
Girls where putting on high heals while Maria was comfortable whit her 160 centimetres long hight.
In school she usually was in the corners, just observing the people around her, and she dreamt about a world with no war, hurting or pain. And she knew that one day, the world was going to be better.
When not in school Maria worked as a waitress at her mothers little café. She didn’t earn much, but it was enough for her to by new clothes and stuff she wanted. And she liked the little café. People from all over the village came there, and Maria knew them all. She especially liked the older people, for if there was one thing she loved it was history. And what is better then hearing how all the old people lived when they where young?
It was a raining Saturday when Maria was sweeping the floors in the café. Thanks to the rain there wasn’t many people there, but Maria didn’t mind much. She was just happy that she could be inside and work instead of being home and have nothing to do.
-“ Maria dear!” Her mouther called for her.
-“ Yeah?” Maria called back.
-“ Can you come back here and help me?”
-“ Sure.”
Maria walked into the back, seeing her mouther stand and look up at a shelf.
-“ Oh I hate that these things weigh like ton!” Her mouther sighted. Maria laughed and helped her pick up the goods that came earlier the same day.
Suddenly they heard the doorbell ring.
-“ Oh? A customer? In this weather?” Her mouther looked at Maria. “Wanna be a sweet heart?”
Maria nodded and went back out. At first Maria was smiling and was just about to ask what the person wanted, when she stopped in her tracks and just stared.
There was a woman standing in the room. She had long purple hair and a top hat. She was wearing a dark red shirt and a Black tie loosely around her neck, and a pair of black trousers whit chains on them. She did not come from her village. The woman smiled at Maria and walked up to her.
-“ Hey, I’m sorry if you guy’s are closed or something...”
Maria looked at the woman, before coming to her senses again.
-“ No! Nono we are open.”
-“ Great. Can I have some tea and something sweet?”
-“ Uhm, sure.” Maria walked to the little kitchen and came back a few moments later whit the woman's tea and sweet. The woman had taken a seat at a table closest to the window that was showing the forest.
-“ Ah, thank you.” She said, looking at Maria. Maria was still kinda choked, and now even the woman looked at Maria whit eyes of interest. “Have we meet before?”
Maria jumped, apologised and ran back again. Her heart was beating as fast as a racer, and she was in panic.
-“ Maria!” Her mouther called, grabbing her. “Are you okay? What happened?”
Maria covered her face in her hands, and started to breath like normal.
-“ N-nothing. I... I just thought that that woman was...” She trailed off, making her mouther worry more.
-“ What, sweety? What?”
-“ I think I have seen her in my dreams. In all my nightmares...”
Outside, at the table, the woman looked to the back door, drinking her tea and sighing.
-“ Oh boy, one more. I don’t really have time to babysit right now.”
A low laughter was heard, but only she heard it, for it was inside her head.
“Oh, do you now? I thought you came here for you where BORED!”
The woman sighted again.
-“ You’re right. But I’m not THAT bored.”
“It could be fun.”
-“ Shuddup.”
“What if she had a really interesting monster?”
-“ Not interested.”
“What if she needs help?”
The woman paused when her cup was halfway up to her lips, and she glanced to the door. A laughter was heard again, and she sighted angry.
-“ All right all right. I’ll do it.”
“Good girl.”
