The moving had mostly been finished; The Ospices were now living on the second floor of the shop, and the main floor, the shop itself, had gone from INSANE CHAOS to it's normal, regular Chaos. Aside from the tenants upstairs, life was returning to normal. Well, almost normal.
It was a lot louder in the shop, for some reason.
The noise mostly came from the other end of the shop, where her Shaman Boy, Kay, was playing with the Ospice's youngest daughter, Roxanne. Well, not quite playing. He was more...throwing her around. In the air. Of course he caught her every time she fell back down, and despite her shrieks and squeals of laughter, there was a stoic part of the group; Gera, who had his arms out like he was going to catch Roxy if Kay somehow managed to drop her.
Switch was doing her best to ignore it, just sitting at her desk reading a book she'd found in the shop. It was called "The Book With No Name" and was written by Anonymous...but it seems that there were chapters of another book tucked into it's pages. It was interesting, going from a mash of genres for a rather funny documentary-type about cadavers.

Donald James Isaac was the only person who could get a cowlick not only on his head but on the bushy beard that protruded from his face. He couldn't bear to part with it, though. He loved it. He wasn't wild and shaggy and he never sported ragged clothing and alcohol in a paper bag, so his beard was a get away from that. He could stroke it when he was trying to look thoughtful. This is what he was doing the day that he ran face-first into the open door.
The guttural noise that clawed up his throat was more of a 'yoink' then anything manly as he stepped back and grabbed his throbbing nose. He shook his head and looked into the building, which was quiet aside from a few couples and a older lady enjoying coffee. He left the building a while later with a cup of hot tea. He fumbled around in his bag putting away his extra change and sat on the bench outside of a building.
There was noise escaping the door, the sound of children and laughter. He had passed it many times, it was some sort of an old antique store or somehing. He preferred the second hand store downtown, where he had gotten an old wooden Grandfather clock and a pair of worn leather shoes a few weeks back, but there was no harm in trying! That was practically Donalds motto, along with 'If you don't like it you don't have to eat it' (which was pretty much a family motto, all his aunts and uncles had a story involving it).
He scuffed his shoes on the sidewalk and strolled into the store, taking his hat off at the door and clutching it in his unoccupied hand.

"Kay, put her down before you drop her. You're making Gera worry." Switch called from her end of the store; she could barely see Kay from where she was, but she could picture that big stupid grin on his lips. But not only that, she could hear him shrug off her worries, and resume tossing the little girl.
The creak of the door made her stop her nagging of her wayward son, looking at the interesting man who wandered in. "Oh, Hello there. Welcome to Balcombe!"

Donald's attention was drawn towards the back of the room where a strange looking boy was playing with a stranger looking girl. It was like being in a sci-fi movie, sort of. This was the coolest day of his life. Except, at the moment he was just confused. He looked over at the voice ringing towards him and threw a crooked (but sincere) smile onto his face.
"Hello" he chimed back and he turned to look around. There were all sorts of items, much neater than the store on the other side of town. He fumbled through lamps and glanced into teacups and avoided the pile of (that he hoped were not NOT second hand) sex toys. He found himself looking at hats and questioning syringes and piling through old DVD's when he found the perfect thing.
It was a picture of dogs playing poker. He had seen something similar at his grandmothers house when he was young, and he thought that it would look good in his kitchen, if he ever found the motivation or time to clean and reorganize it. He walked towards the back of the room, when he noticed something on jewelry rack. It was the rack that caught his attention (he wondered the age of the wood used to carve it) and when he went over to look, he noticed a necklace hanging off of it.
It looked to be some sort of charm necklace, with objects attached to it. It reminded him of an old decal he had of an eye, and how fitting it would be. It wasn't expensive, and it would save him a trip to the toy store when his brother's daughter turned eight. It would be much more useful than an old paining, which he was sure he could find elsewhere. 'Do kids still play dress up?' he thought to himself and looked around for somewhere to pay.

Switch watched the man head further into the shop; actually, so did the taller brown skinned boy, who fumbled a bit with catching the happily shrieking blonde girl. Gera, the metallic man near the pair startled, but sighed heavilly when Kay miraculously caught Roxy once more, and held her against him for a moment. Kay seemed to understand that this wasn't just a chance visit, that this man was called here by an item...and the shaman boy was curious as to which.
"Pretty sure they do; I have three boys though, two are a little too old for dress up and the other much too young to even hold his own head up." Switch responded with a smile, feeling that little pang in the back of her mind of a connection being made. "How old is the little one you have in mind?" She questioned, hoping to find a way to get this man to take the item for free.

He looked over at her, playing with the necklace in his hands. "She's seven now, and I know she turns eight some day" he said with a grin. "Not for a while of course, but I know when she does I won't have anything ready for her!"
He fumbled with the necklace that he held, looking at the charms. "Do you know anything about this? It's pretty neat looking, and I'm curious if I'd be able to attach other charms to it."

"Oh, well then...What little girl doesn't like playing dress up? I'm sure she'll love it." Well, at least she might enjoy having another playmate. She remembered playing dress up when she was a little girl...they couldn't have changed that much, right? Right. Her head tilted a bit when the charms were brought up, tapping her lips...well...he could, but after a while...
"I think it looks lovely the way it is, no need to add anything new!" Besides, once it turns lifeless there really wasn't any point in adding new charms. "Well, if you're looking to give that to her for a gift, I think I can let you take it for free." Switch offered, trying her best to sound like she was pondering it.

He looked at the necklace and grinned. "No way, I can definitely give you something for it." He opened his bag and fumbled through it, before pulling out his wallet. "I don't see a price tag," he said, "does $5 work for you?" He pulled the cash out of his wallet and placed it on the counter, smiling up at Switch. She could just imagine how excited her niece would be. She did like playing dress up, and this necklace was definitely right up her alley. It had a tribal look to it, with lots of do-dads and things that she could play with. He was going to be the best uncle in the world!

Switch looked baffled. Why didn't people ever want to take these things for free? It seemed nine out of ten wanted to pay...and this was the one case where she wished that these people could be cheap! Green eyes lingered on the money on the counter, and she politely pushed it back towards him.
"Please, I insist." She stated nicely, smiling. This man was going to take it for free even if she had to chase him down. The shop be damned.

He looked at her and tilted his head. "If you're sure." He picked up the necklace and examined it. It was beautiful, and Emma would just love it, he knew it. He put the five back into his wallet and slipped the necklace into the bag. "You're sure." he repeated, almost suspiciously. You never really see straight up generocity anymore, but he really couldn't complain. He shot her a toothy grin and tapped his fingers on the counter.
"If you say so! I definitely have to thank you. She is going to love it to the ends of the world, man!" He turned, looking at the other strange objects as he walked out. As he reached the door, he turned back to face Switch.
"I'll see you around sometime!" He didn't know how absolutely correct he was.

"I'm sure." Switch assured him with a smile, chuckling over the suspicion in his voice. Oooh how she was used to that tone. It wouldn't be the last time she would hear it, either. As the man left, the blue haired woman smiled again, waving her fingers.
"Sometime, indeed. Have a good day!" Once the door closed behind him, she turned back to her work, sighing.
